So, with the mighty Mansfield faltering a bit of late and slipping out of the top 3, and now that we’ve gotten our act together this could be a prelude to the play off semi final in May....

However, a win for us would keep our faint top 3 hopes alive as we have a game in hand although we’d need to win at least another 5 games to give us any chance.

Mansfield are a decent team though and their attacking options are going to be a big test for our defence. Walker, Hamilton and Grant are great players so we have to nullify that threat.

We look much stronger now Troy Brown is back fit and the midfield is dynamic again with Boateng and Law pulling the strings, plus Lee Martin is back from a calf injury.

Our main concern is lack of a quality striker and assume Forte will get the nod as Bowman is suspended.

Should be a really good crowd approaching 5k. Any idea how many Mansfield fans are likely to make the trip? Anything less than 300 would be poor....

Anyway, think we may win this and fancy 2-1 as the final score...Law and Jay for us; Grant for the Stags.

Should be 300 at least I’d hope. There’s plenty making a weekend of it with the majority stopping in Torquay. Looking forward to it despite our recent form, I think we need to come here and win and that won’t be easy at all but if the above mentioned Walker, Hamilton and Grant turn up then we’ve got a chance.

Seen us win 4/5 at SJP so hopefully that’s 5/6 after Saturday and a good drink can be had by all!

Prediction is a draw, If that happens then hopefully FGR win against the Franchise so we can make up a point on them.

Sounds like you should bring a decent following which will be good...

Forgot to say in my opening post that Mansfield’s record at SJP is extremely good of late. Think we’ve won one out of the last four, so you’re definitely a bit of a bogey team.

Last season Mansfield were fantastic and managed to boss the game on a dodgy pitch. If we were still playing that game now we’d still not have scored...

It other managers who have picked the team ,think most stags would be happy with a point ,but somehow ive got a feeling we might hopefully nick a narrow win

Denzel why are you having a meltdown over a team picked by the leagues managers?

Very good every time he’s played, weird he’s not started recently actually. I reckon we have a good player on our hands.

Looked a step above whenever I’ve saw him.

Exeter 0-5 Mansfield.

They are too good for this league, and they never lose against the lower clubs in the division. We've no chance.

I'd like to take this moment to formally congratulate Mansfield on winning the title and beating Lincoln to the title.

- Now, reality for a second. Exeter 2-0 Mansfield. Hiram and Brown are both finally back, and last time they were both fully fit we were top of the league and above Lincoln - Mansfield, despite their good record at SJP have flopped a bit recently and they're shite away. Comfortable home win with finally a full squad again (Bar Bowman)

Seems like rookie Donovan Wilson will lead the forward line today, which could be where we come unstuck. The midfield will need to be on top form to offer attacking support.

Still, it’s a beautiful day down here, should be a great crowd, can’t wait.

Men against boys today.

No complaints whatsoever as Mansfield outclassed us from the kick off. CJ Hamilton is a class player and destroyed our defence, plus Tyler Walker scored a beauty to kill the game. Our midfield were nowhere...the usually classy Law and Boateng barely got a kick so hats off to Mansfield for stopping that threat.

Also why the hell did we play such a high line when Hamilton and Walker have serious pace and two of our back four are mid thirties. Tbh 4-1 flattered us so on that reflection I really don’t think we’re ready for promotion.

But football’s a funny old game and we could turn it around next week, who knows.

Anyway, well played Mansfield. On that evidence you should definitely finish top 3.

Great result.

We'll probably lose at home to Cambridge next Saturday.

How we can be so shite in losing to Crewe at home one week then go dick Exeter away is so typical of this league

That's the problem when you play mid table clubs, theyre very inconsistent.

So many times this season opposition fans have said top three should be no problem, so frustrating to find ourselves chasing it now instead of consolidating.

From the brief highlights it looks like you kept letting CJ get in behind, no defender in the world can catch him if that happens.

It’s because ultimately everyone is shit to obviously varying degrees in L2. It is the 4th tier after all although Lincoln fans seem to forget this often.

Well that's five of the top seven who have beaten us at home.
Wasn't there but sounds like Mansfield got the tactics right and us wrong. We still need to remember that it's Taylor's first year in management and is having to play a different team every week.
Still in the mix for the playoffs but don't think we are good enough to go up.
Well done to Mansfield.

Don’t play a high line against us and don’t let us play out the back, do that and we’re in some bother. We end up playing the long ball, but might have more of an outlet not Danny rose is back in contention which is welcome

Don’t mean that as a negative thing, all teams have weaknesses, Exeter appeared to let us do both.

The odd run continues - since our promotion we’ve won at each other’s grounds 4 times out of 5

Brilliant display from us yesterday in fact exeter got off lightly it could have been 5 or 6 ,think this win will give us the boost to really go for the autos ,bury had a bad day and now with the remaining fixtures i really think we will make top 3 tranny will drop points ,as will mk ,and bury if we keep up the way we played yesterday the mk game will be hopefully irrelevant ,:box:

Danny Rose being back is huge, we have had no different outlet upfront for ages now.
