Haven't got the energy to drive up for this one and the rest of the gang (and potential chauffeurs) have got other distractions this weekend - so I'll be listening to Johnno and Doug in the warm again.

Every reason for optimism, despite the shattering and tragic defeat midweek.

Finally the side almost picks itself - just the Dunk/Maris conundrum or do we even consider giving Maris a start ahead of Mingoia? I think not. Newton will be back to strengthen the bench and should get on the pitch, as will Williamson and Maris.

Norris
Halliday, Legge, Roberts, Taylor
Dunne, Clark
Mingoia, Berry, Dunk
Ikpeazu

Should get 3 figures travelling, (maybe 140?) to see a hard fought 2-1 win for the U's.

Our lads will be up for it, cough cough, the boys are hurting cough cough, we need to put things right cough cough (copyright Hartlepool Daily Fail, Craig Hignett)

Although Hignett says he doesn't understand the players which is a bit of an issue so how he comes out with this bollocks is a mystery to me.

0-3, lowest Saturday crowd of the season so far.

One of my favourite away days of the season this, nice long trip, couple of decent boozers and very welcoming people both times I've been up there, my only hope is that it's somewhat better than the absolutely turgid affair it was last season which was one of the worst 90 minutes of football I've ever seen.

2-0 Cambridge (Berry, Ikpeazu)

There is no way you can drop Maris at the minute. He's been excellent and Dunk had been poor for the 3-4 games before he got his injury. Plus I really don't think you could drop anyone from a team that turned over Coventry 4-0.

Hartlepool fans have clearly lost confidence in Hignett but their home form remains good. We've won our last three away games on the bounce but I do expect us to make it four. 3-1.

I'm struggling to muster the energy to go and I only live 2 mile away, I think we've got to win this, our next two games are Portsmouth and Blackpool which we'll get nowt from.

I don't trust in Hignett to pick the right formation or players, FeatherWoods will be playing, Amond will be on his own, Toto will be right back.

0-2

Unlike my fellow U's - now there's a surprise - I'm not so optimistic of a win. Pools is a tough place to go to so I'll be happy with a point.

1-1 Legge or Roberts.

It's not. We have one of the worst (I think 2nd worst) home record over the last 5 years. It's too easy for teams coming here, will be again today.

Team selection is bit more sensible today, however.

Only the two home defeats so far right? To me this suggests that it's not easy for sides to win at VP. Also, in our last two meetings at VP you hold the upper hand with a 2-1 win and a goalless draw.

Away down south with work, thank fuck I'm not there. Useless. Hignett's on borrowed time, sadly another manager who just isn't cutting it with us.

I think we're cursed. Everything we do just turns to shit.

No one in the ground could see that result coming at half time, pretty even first half, they had a penna saved and we had one booted off the line (or close to) what happened in that second half was astounding, first goal goes in and that's it game over, no bottle or fight in any of the players.

Hignett should resign or the chairman needs to bite the bullet and sack him, we are sleepwalking our way to non league football.

We've scored nine goals in six days, a far cry from where we were a few months ago! Incredible second half performance and motoring up the table now. That defeat against Wycombe is becoming more and more irritating every day.....!

Hignetts has simply lost it,Amond on the wing his love child Feathersrone behind Paynter, dear me
But the 2nd half capitulation beggerd belief.
Gutless, spineless shower of shyte, absolutely terrified of the big centre forward.
We've had some bad players over the years, but made up for it with a bit of fight in them, but this lot has no bottle or character.
This could be the season we finally slip, into non league.

Surely Hignett will be gone Monday. Can't see how he can possibly keep his job now.

He should have gone weeks ago but if Hartlepool act now and get a replacement quickly at least the new manager would have a few games to see what he needs ahead of the January market.

Just watched the highlights and it looked like that every Cambridge goal was deflected off a pool defender.

We've had three owners since Wilson was sacked, a Norwegian oil company, some two bob crooks who were involved in some shady shit at Swindon and now some bloke from Essex who seemingly hasn't a pot to piss in.

Never dull being a Pools fan.

The second goal has Sestons favorite player Featherstone ambling into the box just in time to have a good view of the unmarked player scoring ....another , has Bates simply moving out of the way for the attacker ....them 2 need shooting ....both played in the Blyth embarrassment also
