Or as Ronnie would have it - “We’ll need to be physical, we’ll have to change our approach. Yes, when we get the ball, we want to get it down and play. But we know we have to be prepared to defend long throws, long balls but that’s what this league is about.”

Just picked up my ticket - I've succumbed to the chance to see us put right last season's surrender and to visit the shrine to Rakish. I'm confident that we'll see a better U's performance (difficult to see worse). There'll possibly be 3, maximum 4, from that team on the pitch. It looks like Paynter will be back to partner Rakish - but once again I haven't a clue which team we'll put out. Is this the match and stage for "White Pele" Luke Berry to hit his straps by moving into the no 10 role? Will we revert to a back 4 to get Demetriou and Dunk in on the left? Is Taylor in ahead of Omozusi because he's big and has a longish throw? How do we squeeze Taft in?

This won't be the team but my choice to start would be:

There'll probably be a few less travelling than last season but we might top 200. I'd like a clean sheet but can't see it.

1 - 1

We aren't looking good at the back. Worley went off injured for the ressies on Tuesday, first choice keeper still out, Magnay still on suspension, wings as soft as butter.

I think we'll go 3-5-2 and put Bates on Corr, hopefully the Bingmeister and Fenwick up front.

I agree 1-1.

Nice early start on the train for us, great away trip last season, apart from the result, as usual. Need to find a better boozer near the ground this time though, one we ended up in just before the game was pants.

I expect us to go 4-4-2 and lose 2-0.

Try The Millhouse pub. It's on the far side of the ground from the train station. It's run by my mates Dave and Nobby and they welcome away fans. Two minutes walk to the away entrance through the car park behind the away end. Live TV, decent snacks and a great range of beers. Bring a CUFC momento and they'll hang it up for you.

Perfect, will check it out, cheers.

Come in The Mill House,I'll get you a pint.
According to,our local radio your players were a bit upset the way Pools players & supporters celebrated the win last season.

Both teams in need of a win, I predict we line up 4-4-2. Realistic line up will be: Dunn (unfortunately); Omozusi, Legge, Roberts, Demetriou; Newton, berry, Hughes (unless Keane is fit), dunk; Simpson and corr (if fit), if not I'd go for slew.

Haven't been positive recently about our results and been predicting losses and draws, but think we're in need of a win and a good performance. I'm going for 3-1 away win.

I'd say Millhouse also , however if your into real ale the Rat Race on the station itself is worth 20 mins or so .... If you've got plenty of time do a right and a quick left and there's a pub right next to the brewery and if you have loads of time get a taxi to the Causeway Pub , it's only a 15 mins walk from the station, if that , but I'd confuse you with instructions ...btw our Taxis are cheap ..

Corr is out (according to RM). If so, I'd push Berry up behind Simpson and bring in Morrisey but I'm guessing a straight swap with Blyth coming in. Hope the A1 behaves and leaves time for one at the Rat Race before sampling the hospitality at the Millhouse.

I feel another defeat, we are depleted at the back. Although I think Worley is terrible so his absence could be a positive.

I read Corr is a doubt, but if he plays I think we will struggle to cope.

3-1 away win

Bonus for us if Corr is out.I thnk we'll be ok,sounded like we played very well last week & a win is just around the corner.
The defence will be better without Worley,Halliday had a cracking game.
The only threat Cambridge posed last season was from corners/long throws,if we can defend them,we'll get the win.

Corr is out, so is Omozusi at right back which more than likely means Greg Taylor will play, which enhances your chances even more.

Dunn, Taylor, Roberts, Legge, Demetriou, Newton, L. Hughes, Berry, Dunk, Chiedozie, Simpson, probably.

If Corr is indeed out, then RM will set his side out for a point. I only hope we don't bore the locals to sleep. I'm thinking either a 1-1 draw or a 2-1 Pools win, but I'll try to be optimistic and go with the former. But only if Rakish doesn't atone for his penalty miss at Exeter and score a hat trick.

Corrs out so I hops we play simpson and cheidozie, with slew on as a sub when Hartlepool tire. I (once again) begin to feel negative with Taylor possibly starting, and without Corr. We're going to have to hope for a weak Hartlepool defence for us to score. Or play for crosses, set pieces and corners. But I think we're in need of a win so I change my mind to a 1-0 win hanging on for a long time.

I feel sure that Blyth will (and should) get the nod ahead of Slew or Chiedozie. If Omozusi doesn't play, I'd lay odds on Pools giving us problems down their left flank, whether we revert to a back 3 or put Taylor at right back again.

It's a different team bar 3, or maybe 4, but we're probably 3 times the threat from corners, free kicks and throws that we were last season - even without BBB Corr.

Really tough one to call this. Both teams out of sorts with injury problems. It could go either way and the first goal will be vital.

We're going to have to hope for a weak Hartlepool defence for us to score.

If Worley and Harrison are our two central defenders, you can be assured chances. They don't work well together. Worley turns like a bus, so any pace upfront will work for you. Harrison is often out of position, often covering for Worleys mistakes.

If Jones and Boyce start I would be much more confident, but I suspect Harrison won't be dropped.

I would guess at this being our line up:

Bartlett
Halliday Harrison Boyce Carrol
Featherstone Bates Woods
Oates Paynter Bingham

Another open game expected. 3-1 Pools I will go for

I think we should abandon this 3 up front lark .... concentrate on getting the ball to 2 of them , mind you that means starting Ebby or Kudos ......not really an apealing thought

We could go with

Bartlett
Halliday Boyce Harrison Jones
Oates Bates Woods Carroll
Bingham Paynter

or

Bartlett
Boyce Harrison Jones
Halliday Featherstone Bates Woods Carroll
Bingham Paynter

I wouldn't mind either of those two teams. I do think Paynter works well with a player either side and Woods just behind him mind.

RefWatch; Ref for Pools v Cambridge game is Geoff Eltringham, 38, from County Durham (whippets & beer). FL ref since '09. Sales rep for a Sunderland timber firm. Teeny tiny chap, massive Sunderland fan. Gave up his season ticket to ref full time. Proposed to his girlfriend whilst eating cheese. Reffed Pools 4 times; draws with Trannie, Oxford & Colchester & a 2-1 home loss to Scunnie. Never reffed Cambridge. Neither homer nor awayer. In 34 games last season he gave 85 Y & 5 R - average. No R in 22 games so one is due.
