Posh have confirmed Grant McCann as manager on a four year deal.

http://www.theposh.com/news/article/mccann-3114560.aspx

Reasonably happy. Grant as a player is a bit of a Posh legend and one of the best central midfielders of the past 15 years.

Hopefully he makes the right appointment as his assistant. Have a feeling we could go well next year with him in charge, even though he has no experience.

Edit: He's just made his first signing too. Hayden White joins after being released by Bolton.

Think that could be a very good appointment, has a backroom team who know the club too, which helps.

Lot of unknowns at the moment though, hasn't McCann been putting off management for a while? Remember him being linked with the Orient job

Interesting one this. For the last couple of years a lot of Posh have been saying that they want McCann to get the gig, so now he's finally got it could there be some pressure on him?

I agree that Posh could go well next season, but they could easily do a Donny as well.

Sensible appointment in my opinion, he's worked at the club as a coach for a while now as well as being a decent player for them, it's an appointment that seems to have pleased the fans so he'll get a good crack at it. I think he'll do pretty well, Posh have a decent squad for that level which criminally underacheived last season, and with a few additions over the summer should be challenging in the top 6.

Apparently Evans was lined up but McAnthony had a last second change of heart.

Yep! Thank Christ for that!

He completes his badges this summer, and last summer said he wanted to learn a bit more as an assistant before taking a job. Fair play to him. Hasn't rushed himself in to it, said he's ready this summer and has been given the gig!

We know McCann and we know what he'll get the team like. There's a real buzz from the players about the appointment and it already feels more right than any other appointment MacAnthony has made.

There will be pressure, working for Darragh means there is, and we want promotion, but I've no doubt McCann will thrive.

I'm really happy, first appointment I've genuinely been pleased about in about 10 years. Over to you, Grant!

Parallels to ourselves with Harris perhaps. Having the crowd behind you goes a long way

Yep they even mentioned that in the press conference with regards to yourselves and Wigan having ex captains as managers.

Well he hasn't taken long to make his first signing.

Hayden White joins after being released by Bolton.

I know he was on loan at Blackpool last season, but as I didn't see him when Posh played them last game of the season, any reviews from Pool/Bolton fans?

I would rather watch Ryman League than have that obnoxious, odious fat c*** anywhere near my football club.

I thought he was one of the worst "footballers" I'd ever laid my eyes on in both games against Blackpool this season.

Plus Raynor his sidekick. Spent the whole of their last visit telling the ref every tackle we made was a stamp.

The pizza delivery into the away dug out still makes me chuckle.

Santos was the worst player I saw all last season. He was playing for us most of the game.

Never seen a pro make so many miss-kicks in one game.

The Tom Hitchcock hat trick in last 10 minutes still makes me chuckle too.

Steve Evans and Paul Raynor have achieved everywhere they've been (including Leeds given the circumstances).

Mock them all you like but they'll always succede and will do at their new club (the size of which dwarfs Peterborough).

His brother Gee who still works at the club lauaghed at the thought of Steve joining Peterborough the other week at the end of season dinner btw hence why i think the 'deal was done' bollocks is so funny.

Oh we know it. Unfortunately Graham Westley did not.

I know this phrase is coined by many fans about players they dislike, but I honestly can not understand how he is a professional footballer.

How many managers will Peterborough appoint before their fans realise they'll never get Evans?

What I find funniest about your obsession on this is that you think that us posh fans are creaming ourselves at the thought of Evans as manager. None of us want him.

Silly little boy

Good decision by Posh for me. Gary Caldwell and Neil Harris have proved this season that despite inexperience, if you understand everything about the club and have the right backroom staff behind you, then it can be a success. Obviously McCann has a tougher job than say Caldwell for example but I'm sure Darragh has looked at the formula and believes it can work again. He'll need an experienced assistant though no doubt.

Shows the intelligence of your lot, don't want perennial promotion winner Steve Evans but happy with Grant McCann with his couple of coaching badges and mediocre playing career.

Your adoration of Mr Evans tells us all we need to know about your intelligence and your moral compass.
