Interesting developments. From what we can tell it doesn't sound like he necessarily has oodles of cash to throw at it, nor whether he intends to, but potentially brings with him contacts, fresh impetus and a real passion to see not only the club improve, but the entire area. Looking at his background in building development, if this comes off, I can't help but feel a little optimistic about the chances of us actually getting a new stadium.

I'm also really heartened by the fact the vast majority of our supporters don't seemingly appear to want someone to come in and spunk money on the playing side, most just want someone with fresh ideas who can make the stadium happen. Skme are just happy at the prospect of John Sheldon Fenty going.

Hoping and praying this comes off, it’s the news we’ve craved for years.

Important thing is getting rid of Fenty, or at least getting him to take a back seat.

The Trust should be pushing for a decent chunk of the Boardroom because it's a good opportunity to be able to.

Seems like just the bloke we need to properly bridge the gap between club and community. We've been generations behind everybody else for too long, a fresh start with some modern, forward thinking will do this club wonders. If this comes off I suspect we'll see a more than decent increase in season ticket sales.

You have to forgive many Grimsby supporters for refusing to believe it and maintaining a shard of pessimism, we've been let down for too many years now, but this could be a very exciting time not just for the football club, but the town overall.

I’ll not celebrate until this is fully confirmed. There has been so many false dawns over the years but this is the furthest speculation I have seen in years. The fact that is cane straight from the Telegraph is promising.

As others have said, whilst Shutes doesn’t have a lot of money, it’s the potential business links, investment and better running of the club that Fenty has not managed in his stint at the club. It’s been rumoured by a few that another investor is David Ross of Carphone Warehouse fame. He’s from Grimsby and has been linked many times before so if that were to happen, I think the club would implode with euphoria.

Yeah not cash rich by the looks of it but that's not a bad thing. Last thing we want is someone coming in and throwing money around only for us to not go far enough get bored of losing money and walk away, leaving us in trouble.

What we need is to follow what Lincoln have done invest in the club, make us sustainable and reinvest money like they have done with the cup run and move us forward as a club. Not remain stagnant and fall behind like Fenty has led us over the last 17 years.

Shute seems to be someone who is looking into the redevelopment of Grimsby so it's not just about the football club. Also I understand David Ross (carphone warehouse founder) is also involved in these redevelopments so if he is also part of the takeover even if it's just in the background there is no worries about the money.

To be fair when I think of famous people, David Ross of Carphone Warehouse is always the first name on my lips.
