Taken from the above section...cheers T.A.

Carlisle (a) - WIN
Obviously going into the unknown as far as competitive fixtures are concerned. New squad, new manager, new style, new expectations. We've had quite a positive pre season, most fans are on board with Flitcroft. Hoping we can get off to a positive start. 1-2.

Norwich (a) League Cup - LOSE
Yeah...hopefully they 'rest' a few or could be a hammering. 3-1

Exeter (h) - LOSE
Like the look of Exeter again this year. Lost Watkins but still expect them to trouble the top 7 with the quality they have and Tisdale guiding them. 0-1

Morecambe (a) - WIN
They seem a club in turmoil and under prepared for the season. Would be hopeful of nicking 3 points here. 0-2

Crawley (h) - WIN
Not sure what to expect from Crawley with their Dutch imports and Harry Kewell manager. Seem to be near the bottom of most people's predictions. 2-0

So a fairly optimistic prediction of 3 wins, 1 defeat and out of the League Cup. Refuse to acknowledge the checkatwat or whatever it is.

Seems a bit optimistic to be unbeaten in the league for the 1st month, I suppose it helps we spend most of it at home.

I think we're more than capable of going on an unbeaten run like last season, until we're hit with a few injuries and suspensions.

Sat 5th August - Yeovil Town (H): Fancy us to get off to a comfortably good start against a team struggling for numbers and quality. WIN

Tue 8th August - Ipswich Town (H) League Cup R1: We beat Aston Villa at this stage last season with a team not as strong as this one. The Tractor Boys won't particularly fancy it. Fancy us to a least take it to extra time and who knows? DRAW

Sat 12th August - Barnet (A): Got a pretty decent recent record against Barnet and we won there towards the end of last season. Fancy us to do so again in probably a tight game. WIN

Sat 19th August - Colchester United (H): The first of two very tough games at the end August. Don't think they're quite as strong as last year, but fancy us to take a point minimum at home. DRAW

Sat 26th August - Mansfield Town (A): Have we ever won at Field Mill? Steve Evans revels in beating any Luton sign in previous guises. Will be a tight game though, probably decided with one late goal. Nice to get a game against a promotion rival out of the way early. LOSE

Tue 29th August - Tottenham Hotspur U23 (H): Not quite sure how this game will go at all. We're likely to play our "Trophy Team" again with the rules relaxed somewhat. LOSE

7 points from the first four games. Not a disastrous start by any means.

Yoevil (H) - Agree should be a comfortable win but with opening day fixtures you just never know.
Barnet (A) - Think this will be a hard fought narrow win.
Colchester Utd (H) - I'm sure we can't play worse than we did for the corresponding fixture last season. A very poor performance by all accounts. I expect us to get the win this time.
Mansfield Town (A) - A draw. Not a happy hunting ground but a good time of the year to play Mansfield. A mild day with a good pitch allowing us to play our natural game.

10 points from 12 sounds a bit too optimistic!

Cup games. League cup: Think our second string will beat Ipwichs second string. As for the Spurs game I have no interest just hope that our youngsters get some play time.

Mansfield(H) Loss - We almost always struggle in our opening game, or opening home game, of the season. Haven't won our opening home game since 2007 and have only won 1 opening day game since then. I don't see us ending that streak against a Steve Evans team, we usually struggle against them. Would love to get one over on him though, but think we'll lose, either 0-1 or 1-2.

Bolton(H, League Cup) Loss - Meh. We'll put in a spirited performance I expect and maybe take it to extra-time, but will probably come up short.

Newport(H) Win - Given they are expected to be down near the bottom again, we've got to be targeting a win out of this one. Would like to think we can get 3 points out of this one.

Barnet(H) Win - Another we need to be winning. Barnet hate coming to Gresty Road as we usually smash them. I'd take any sort of win in this one as you always worry the law of averages will see them pinch a result sooner or later.

Port Vale(A) Draw - Be interesting to see where both teams sit after 3 games. If we've got off to a poor start, we might need to get a result in this one. Want to pick up something to claw back some of the lost pride we had when they sent us down from L1.

Newcastle U23s(H) Draw - Totally not arsed about this Checkatrade bollocks. Don't mind if the players take it seriously, but I hope most fans give it a wide berth. If the players pick up a result for confidence purposes, fine. Be interesting to see what sort of team Newcastle send down.

Mansfield and Vale will be tough, but got to be looking at 4-6 points from Newport and Barnet at home, especially with a tricky September(Grimsby, Chesterfield, Cambridge, Carlisle, Wycombe, Coventry) coming up.

Chesterfield (a): LOSE Did you even see Chris O'Grady's thighs, bro?
Derby (h) League Cup: WIN Beat them last time we played them at this stage of the tournament with a shitter team at Pride Park.
Coventry (h): WIN They won't have got themselves in gear properly and I think they'll struggle this season anyway.
Stevenage (a): DRAW Will be a tricky match this one, but I can see us grinding out a point.
Wycombe (h): DRAW Last minute Nathan Tyson equaliser.
Doncaster (h) Checkatrade Trophy: LOSE They spanked us at BP last season, so I'm not holding out much hope.

Grimsby H - Narrow win. More out of hope for a good start rather than being based on much Grimsbys end.

Wednesday A - Narrow loss. Hoping for at least a plucky defeat where we show up for ourselves.

Notts A - I'm going to go for a loss, purely because I think it might take us a while to find a successful system for away games. Think keeping possession with wing backs is great at home, but waiting to see if we can do it away to decent teams.

Port Vale H - Win. Think we'll bounce back from Notts. I believe we'll be very dependent on home form.

Newport A - Dodgy place to go, going to say a frustrating draw to end the month.

7 points from 12. That's me trying to be realistic and not too optimistic. Any less than 7 and I think it's a poor start. But if Caldwell gets the system right, we have the players to be looking at between 9 and 12. Who knows.

Crawley A WIN 2-1 seem to be expected to struggle and have a good record at their place added to our 13 year unbeaten opening day sequence fancy a narrow hard fought win.

Leeds A LOSS 1-3 at home I'd fancy an upset but can't see it away at Elland Road, valiant performance but go down 3-1.

Wycombe H DRAW 1-1 Akinfenwa always scores against us and think this will be a hard fought point.

Chesterfield A LOSS 0-1 dire performance as always away to Chesterfield.

Crewe H WIN 2-1 fancy a win here being at home in a hard fought local game.

Oldham A don't care

5th Aug Lg2 Forest Green(a) D
Things were promising a week ago but now it's not so hot. Several worrying injuries for Brindley, Weston, Nelson plus Akinde hasn't played for two games with the club saying it's a precaution. Recent history suggests we like playing FGR but I'm sure KMB will be trying to make a point.

8th Aug EFL cup Peterborough(a) L
I want to be optimistic but it's a miserable draw.

12th Aug Lg2 Luton(H) L
It's a tough start for Rossi and we know already that the team won't be full strength

19th Aug Lg2 Crewe (a) D
Should have a better looking midfield for this game and we won't be on our holidays like last season's game.

26th Aug Lg2 Stevenage(H) W
Good time to get off the mark.

29th Aug EFL Wimbledon (H) W
Chance for development squad.

With Luton the first game of September, we end up playing the losing PO sides very early. Wycombe weren't a million miles off last season and Morecambe seem to only win in August/September!

Crewe A, FGR H, Accrington A and Luton H are our league games in August. I'd hope for 7/8 points but Crewe away on the opening day isn't a given and Luton at home will be very tough. Forest Green will be on a high after being promoted and I don't think we have won at Accrington before.

We've also got Rochdale in the energy drink cup, Would be nice to get into the 2nd round for a change. Also Lincoln in the most pointless competition in football. Not sure if it's home or away but I hope we lose.

I think we've a genuinely tricky month - Forest Green and Luton at home will be tough - FG as an unknown quantity and on a high, and it'll be interesting to see how Luton fare against us - a very good side - their squad looks not far off ours tbh.

Crewe away probably a draw and as you say, we never win at Accrington

Morcambe - DRAW
After a dreadful off-season can only see us picking up a point in a game on paper we should be winning.

Oxford - LOSS
They're a good side now and should sweep past us comfortably

Crawley - WIN
First home game of the year, expecting to edge out a win

Swansea U23 - DRAW
Remember them doing well last year so draw probably likely

Carlisle - LOSS
The big trip done in the first month. Probably get battered by a quality side plus travel

Exeter - LOSS
Not expected to do anything against a promotion likely side

Overall a very tough month and would be happy with a few points to be brutally honest COYR

Mansfield - D (This game will be shite and drab or we might lose it. No way we're winning this game. We're shite at home on opening day.)
Bolton (LC) - W (They haven't a pot to piss in and I really fancy us to beat these in the Cup.)
Newport - D (Sort of game we're always complacent in. If they get in our faces they'll get something.)
Barnet - W (These are always dogger when they come our place and they like to knock it about on the deck a bit which plays into our hands so I fancy us to beat these comfortably.)
Port Vale - W (It's one of our favourite grounds to play football at in the league. Believe we've won 9 of our last 14 visits to Vale Park and I reckon Michael Brown won't make it to Christmas anyway. George Ray will relish the battle with Popey should he be fit to return and I see us nicking it 1-0.)

I'll take 8 points all day long!
