Our chairman isn't making any friends with the Premier League regarding the money we receive in League 2 from them - was wondering what other fans thought?

Andy Holt has been brilliant for us but does like a good rant on Twitter!

He's not wrong and good on him for speaking out, hopefully others follow suit.

Doubtful as they are too scared about what will happen without the premier leagues money which is a drop in the ocean to the premier league

Agree with him, Whilst other clubs are voting to keep the format of the EFL trophy as it is.

Football without fans is nothing...

He's obviously right. Thing is, the EPL will just take cash away and bankrupt clubs like Accrington. There's so sentiment from the EPL to lower league clubs. They couldn't give a fuck.

I am surprised by those at the PL even noticed and know who Accrington are..

They care about no- one but themselves and making money..

There was quite a threatening quote in yesterday's Metro if anyone read it. Something along the lines of:

"We'd be interested in Accrington's views as to whether they'd like funding to continue."

We are an inconvenience to the PL. We take cash streams away from them by supporting clubs other than Hull Tigers and Man UTD. Untill we all comply with the programme and get behind their bandwagon, they won't be satisfied

Once EFL clubs started taking the money from PL and depending on it that was when he slippery slope started. Unfortunately I can't see a way back now unless they went part time and the wage bill was drastically reduced and we know that will not happen.

Yup, the EFL would be in a considerably better state if they focused on developing and generating their own revenue streams rather than getting down on their knees and closing their eyes every year with the PL. They think the money is helping them but it's actually just making the divide bigger.

Was great to see the P*terborough chairman come out and back Accrington's, and then proceed to vote to keep the EFL Trophy the same as this year, fucking moron.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I sort've defend the PL stance. End of day they are not bothered about any other league and to really get anything is a bonus.

The efl problem has been constant spiraling wages without any attempt to really stop the rise......plus no real tv income to justify the rises.

No clubs down in l2 should be paying crap to average players (which l2 standard is) wages of £1000 to £4000 a week! There is no justification for this.

If focus had been in giving 4th tier players a proper 4th tier wage, but put money into assisting their 'after football' options maybe wage demands would not be so ridiculous.

Begging the pl for more wont solve the financial problems because the clubs just up their expenses instead of reducing losses.........i find it staggering in the current age of wealth in top flight...the huge tv income and numerous billionairre owners that most top flight club still run massive losses.....top flight clubs should all be profit making thesedays

As a former Accringtonian. Spending my formative years there. I can see both sides. Accrington may well see an increase in gates next season as their rivals Blackburn Rovers move closer to them.
Overall. I really don't see and can't see why there isn't an increase, maybe only nominal of funds to lower league clubs. Remember. Those clubs have recently nurtured players such as Vardy and Gray. In the past a whole host of players who went on to be top players. Would, say; increasing that fund to £2 million per club really hurt Premier League clubs?! It's a lifeline for most down there but is absolutely nothing to a Premier League club. Jesus! Most Premier League Club's spend that on players wages who don't even make an appearance!

You should look on most Premier League clubs as having been given a credit card limit they can just about to afford to pay back, maybe, someday. They go out and buy all sorts of goodies and hope it all works out. If not it's either oh well or Uh-Oh! Most Premier League Clubs are this way. Which is what amuses me when an owner decides to pull the plug or when a club fails.

The thing that irks me with the PL is that the standard reply to any Club who disagrees or challenges anything is that they'll cut funding. It was the same when they wanted the EPPP brought in I think?

I'm not sure how you'd monitor it because they'll be different levels, but I think some of the money should be used bits and pieces more long term than player wages. Maintenance on the Stadium, training ground equipment, things like that. Something more tangible than some wank L2 midfielder on £1.5k/week who continues to blag a career as a professional footballer.
