Forget Halloween - this is our response to the Battle of Derryachium.

I've already shared my thoughts with Don Tonberry so thread content is feeling stale, I just had to get a title that would inspire shoddycollins to raise his game.

Attendance 5,111 (1,134 Pompey?) Have we opened the South Habbin Terrace for you?

Always the optimist, based on Pompey's away form, 3-1 but more in hope than expectation. We won't keep a clean sheet. If pressed, I'd take a score draw and move on to the FA Cup.

Same XI as that for me, we're always absolute pony against Pompey but they're not in great form so if we can get at them from the off like we did to Exeter last week we might have a chance. Not generally our way though so I don't expect it to happen, 3-1 Portsmouth.

First game for Simon dobbin since the Southend game so I hope the boys perform.

I expect better behaviour from you Portsmouth lot this time especially that really nice management team!!

I'll go with Alan's team as well and hope the boys are up for it, I'll pray for Derry tactically!!

I get that Pompey are Pompey... but why are Cambridge Caesar?
Admittedly stretching it - Just think of Jezzus "Caesar" Georgius and his sidekick, Mark "Anthony" Roberts avenging the history of diappointments culminating in (as I said) the Battle of Derryachium. Wiki is your friend.

Admittedly Richard "Are You Not Entertained" Money was in charge for the most acrimonious battle

Well if Pompey can finally Caesar chance to score then we may win this one. Or maybe I'm being Crass(us)?

Congrats - one of the best views in the ground (on the North Habbin we have a more of the scaffolding for the TV gantry to cope with). In which case, let me add a few to my attendance forecast - 5,411 (1,434 Pompey)

Off in a minute, couple of pints in the supporters club needed before today's game. I fancy it today, our record against Portsmouth is dreadful but that can't go on forever.

Alan's team is what I'd go for with Newton, Maris or Elito (if fit?) off the bench later on.

If the table starts taking shape around the 15th game like Derry himself said, then we're in for a relegation scrap, and that is simply unacceptable considering we have a top 10 budget. Only one attempt on target all game, and that was before Pompey had a man sent off after 60 mins or so. The fact that we then didn't have a single attempt after the sending off says it all really.

Then there are those sides that we like to believe we're superior to - step forward Newport, Yeovil, Exeter and quite a few others - and yet they've all scored more than us. L2's lowest scoring side is pathetic if I'm being honest, and while I'm aware not having Corr is a big setback, I also believe it's not really an excuse. Others will point to Willo's poor form but he's got to have goal scoring opportunities before he can score, it's not like he's fluffing every chance that comes his way.

Derry out now. He's dragging us back to the conference and all the good work that Jez and Doggett are doing will be for nought. We've only beat the poor sides, and even then we were lucky, just like we were in a couple of draws we got. As for who replaces him, that's not up to me, but quite frankly it's not that hard to find a better manager than Derry.

An away win for me for the first time in about 5 seasons. The tide is turning...

Not an enjoyable game to watch, but a great weekend.

Didn't think there was much in it between both sides. Connor Chaplin is fast becoming the difference for us this season. Nicking goals like a proper striker can. Cambridge huffed and puffed with the extra man, but I never felt that they'd score. Maybe if Corr was fit it could have been a different story.

Big thanks to the Cambridge fans who applauded in the 53rd minute. Cheers lads.

Terrible game, inevitable result once Pompey scored, Williamson should've buried that chance in the second half and a draw probably would've been fair as we were both as turgid as each other.

We're just fucked without Corr and if we lose one of the few decent players we have starting (like Berry this weekend) then we really struggle due to the complete lack of depth we have, once again it's going to take us a while to get over some terrible recruitment. We've still picked up 13 points from 7 games, we may be 3rd bottom but we have improved (not difficult mind) but I can acknowledge that we've beaten 3 shite teams and should've drawn the other one. Barring a major injury crisis we wouldn't get relegated under Derry, but not finish any higher than lower mid-table, which without Corr is probably going to be our limit regardless of who we have as manager this year now. We've got to show up against Dover next week though, our home performances have been absolutely terrible for far too long.

Have to agree with most of the above.

I think we have to consider a ban on the four letter word "Corr," at least until 2017. It's wearing a bit thin.

Portsmouth looked solid (very), experienced and potential promotion quality but surely they need something more than they showed going forward than little Connor "Charlie" Chaplin - but then they didn't need to show more and just shut up shop even before they went down to 10 men. Don't get me wrong (who are we to criticise) but to paraphrase Alan Hansen: "You won't win L2 with midgets." I'd love it if you did.

A win in the FA Cup would paper over some more cracks and keep the team moving forward but anything else and the rest of November looks really uncomfortable.

Quite frankly, the fact that we looked solid at the back is probably most important to us at the moment as we've been great at conceding plenty of goals from relatively few chances.

Most fans would agree that we need more up front, but the fact is that Cook will only ever play one striker and Chaplin is far and away our best one. He's supposed to be supported by the 3 players behind him but it doesn't seem like he got much service on Saturday.

Time will tell if Chaplin's class and finishing can get us up into the promotion places, but can't help thinking he'd do even better alongside a more physical striking partner. Not happening anytime soon though.
