It now is coming soon to deciding who to keep and to get rid...

Our out of contract players: Duke, Carter, Collins, Bodin, Morris, Tozer, Hornby, Perry, Taylor, Byrom, Newey, Jalal

Definitely release: Carter - legs are going, Newey - did a stop gap job but not what we need
Definitely keep: Collins (offer 2 year deal minimum), Taylor, Byrom
Juries out: Duke, Jalal, Bodin (been injured hard to call - if cheap may be good development player), Morris (been injured useful squad player if fit), Hornby (injury ravaged two years - may be worth giving short deal to), Perry (not played so no idea if any good), Tozer (only if willing to accept a wage in line with his back up position).

In terms of contracted players would look to move Hackett on, Diamond has had a stop start season and would seriously consider what to do with him.

I think the only out of contract players for us are Mangan, Clarke, Grandison, Wildig.

Keep Mangan, his goals per minute is probably one of the best in the division, if not the best. Keep Grandison, great centre half at this level, very good right back too. Keep Clarke, still raw, can use both feet and has had some excellent games (Luton home), was good y'day too. Get rid of Wildig, he's clearly not in favour and League 2 looks to be his level. Wouldn't mind us moving Vernon on too, Barnett, Collins, Mangan and Agba Akpro is fine for L1.

Would love to see us sign Bobby Grant on a permantent contract, it seems likely he'll leave Blackpool, and he's admitted he loves it here. Wouldn't mind us keeping Southern if it was on the cheap as 4th choice midfielder.

Biggest issues we'll have are keeping a hold of Luetwiller, Woods, Goldson, NKP (injury has probably helped us), and Lawrence.

Our out of contract players (well the ones I care about anyway):

Widdowson, Doe, Bingham, Ogogo, Cureton, Hemmings, Howell, Boucaud, Yussuf

We could be in some trouble next season if a fair few of them go. Doe, Ogogo, Bingham and Cureton especially.

The snippets we've been hearing recently is that the club are really going to try and build a squad strong enough for League 1, whatever happens in the next few weeks. Had a look through our current squad list and to be honest, I've lost count of players! Think this may well be the case this summer:

Retained and under contract (7+4):
Mark Tyler, Scott Griffiths, Steve McNulty, Jake Howells, Pelly Ruddock, Nathan Doyle, Paul Benson, Ricky Miller, Charlie Walker, Mark Onyemah, Zane Banton

New Contracts (4+4):
Elliot Justham, Alex Lawless, Jonathan Smith, Luke Guttridge, Jim Stevenson, Ian Rees, Charlie Smith, Lee Angol

Players currently on loan, to try and sign (3):
Michael Harriman, Elliot Lee, Cameron McGeehan

Transfer Listed (7):
Andy Drury, Mark Cullen, Matt Robinson, Curtley Williams, Ryan Hall, Ross Lafayette, Kynan Isaac

Release (8):
Fraser Franks, Danny Fitzsimons, Alex Lacey, Alex Wall, Andy Parry, Shaun Whalley, Brett Longden, Paul Connolly

So if this wish list occurred in the summer, it would leave us with 22 professionals. The + denotes development squad players. I think we need 6 players - 2 centre halves (1 first teamer, 1 squad player), right back cover, 2 wingers (1 first team, 1 squad) and 1 striker (first teamer).

Loans:
Young - Right Back on loan from Sheff Wed, don't want him back.
Corry - Also on loan from Sheff Wed, not bad in midfield but don't think I'd want him again.
Kennedy - Central Midfielder from Bradford, been essential for us recently. Think he's out of contract at the end of the season, definitely should try to get him back.
Monakana - Had high hopes with him, tricky winger from Brighton but he was injured in his 1st game and he's out for the season. Probably not needed next season.

Out of them, I would only like Kennedy back next season.

Out of Contract:
O'Hanlon - Keep him, preferably as a back up centre back.
Gillespie - Definitely keep him, solid goalkeeper albeit injury prone. Club are negotiating a contract with him.
Asamoah - I'd keep him for another season, very tricky and pacy up front.
Potts - I'd probably keep him, even though he looks uninterested most games he's still one of our top scorers. Unless we get decent compensation for him, that is.
Amoo - Undecided
Kearns - Undecided
Elliott - Not worth the risk with his injury record, I wouldn't keep him on.
Robson - Not good enough, let him leave.
Sweeney - He isn't the worst player, but he doesn't offer too much. Probably let him leave too.

Contracted beyond this season:
Paynter - Don't think he offers us very much, doubt anyone will want him though. He'll be on a high wage too.
Dempsey - Soms clubs will probably be looking at him, hope he stays though. Player of the season for us.

Not sure I'd keep Lawless. Maybe if it was a really cheap contract, he just can't be relied upon to be fit enough, even last season he missed a fair number of matches due to injury.

I'm really interested in how we go about this summer. We need to make a descision on how we want to play and build towards that in my opinion. Still likes 4231 but we don't really have the players, in particular forward players for that system and that is where our attacking struggles have started from.

I like Lee but getting rid of Cullen for him, whilst an upgrade presents the same issue that Cullen does in that he will be far more effective in a 2 than in the 4231 as a wide player or even lone front man.

Basically I want to see us have a philosophy and stick with it rather than just bring in league 1 quality players but no framework in place. I think at times we have tried to put square pegs in round holes this year (Cullen up front on his own, Cullen as a winger spring to mind) and when it's not worked lurched from system to system to find something that does in the process unsettling and unbalancing the side. I want us to go back to last season where we had a way of playing, whatever that may be 4231 or otherwise, and bring in the players to play it.

And you've missed absolutely loads that are contracted beyond the season.
Yeah, most of that was just off the top of my head.

I know more are contracted beyond this season but just focussed on a select few.

The only out of contract players I'd consider keeping are Gillespie, Potts, Amoo and Asamoah.

Amoo only because I expect us to be challenging at the top end of the conference next season and I think he's the type of player who would prosper in a winning team.

O'Hanlon I'd get rid of. He's been part of our shambolic defence for the past 2 seasons, we need better.

Even if we prove me wrong and stay up, I expect a positive change next season and a top half of the table season. So regardless what league we're in I'd keep Amoo.

Keep - Jack Thomas, Liam Marsden, Liam Hearn (on a pay per play deal), plus the other 1st year pros'.

The rest can fuck off 'cause we're shit. Major rebuild required.

Would you not keep Matt Rhead for some manual labour tasks like building a new clubhouse or something?

Not sure on ours. Depending on what division we are in will make a difference but I can see the following going.

Jim McNulty
Pablo Mills
Chris Sedgwick
Rob Lainton
Joe Thompson
James Poole

Alex Lawless will come good next season. He followed dodgy seasons with excellent seasons at Conference level.
Reason I put Mark Cullen on the transfer list, is because he's been sulking since January. Just let him go and take the money.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has already stated he wants to keep everybody. He has used the loan market well this season and it will be interesting to see what happens with some of those. Tom Naylor from Derby County has already said he wants to sign for us as he is out of contract at Derby County, Florent Cuvelier has also stated his desire to play for us despite having a year to run on his contract at Sheffield United but that will depend on Albion old boy Nigel Clough at Sheffield United.
Not sure about Stefan Maletic as he hasn't played due to injury.

Sounded to me from Sedgwick's interview as though he's almost certain to leave.
