Former Oxford manager, amongst others. Probably their best manager ever.

How old was he? I mean he looked old back in the 80s when he brought Oxford Utd into the top division!

That was a really really good Oxford side Jim Smith put together in the 80’s. Unlike a lot of teams that made their way up through the leagues in the 80’s, Oxford were pleasing on the eye!

RIP Jim Smith

Absolute legend and gave us the best years of our lives in the 1980s. Our fans still sing about him thirty odd years later. Will never be forgotten around these parts.

Thanks for starting the thread Dan, much appreciated. RIP Bald Eagle.

A great manager, who had success pretty much everywhere he went (Oxford, Portsmouth, Derby).

He is to Oxford what Johnny King is to Tranmere.

Very fondly remembered at Fratton Park.

Gave us a couple of years of hope and glamour accumulating in the fa cup semi-final marathon with Liverpool, and promotion push a year later, in a period otherwise of floating around in the second division avoiding relegation every year for nearly two decades.

Returned with Redknapp to guide us to promotion ten years later.

RIP Jim.

Good minute's unofficial applause for him yesterday in the 79th minute with our bench apparently joining in.
