Big game this.

I'm sure Portsmouth fans get that sort of reaction every week, but I'm talking about more than just the lure of the fixture itself. Rovers come into it on the back of a good point at Plymouth to stop our disappointing run of three straight defeats, while Portsmouth arrive at The Mem unbeaten so far this season. It should mean both sides are confident they can come out of it with 3 points, and that should make for a decent game.

Predictions?

I'm going for a 2-1 gas win. At some point we are going to put away some of our chances, hopefully it will be saturday. The mem will be rocking with Portsmouth bringing a full allocation and I've got the afternoon off work to go so I'm happy :bg:

I'd like to see us create more chances than we managed against Oxford, Bennett needs a goal to get him going again, expect Roberts will be out still and either Tubbs or Stockley to start.

I'm going to go for a 2-1 Pompey win, as much as we probably didn't deserve a point at Oxford on chances created I can't see us playing that bad again.

If we cant beat a tinpot club like Portsmouth we may as well just give up now. Im going for a 3-0 gas win.

It's a tough one, because I think we're better than were we are placed at present and better than our form suggests so I expect us to win sooner rather than later, but at the same time we've just had Plymouth away and now we have one of the other top teams in two games id take a point in. The home form is quite odd also when you compare us last year to this year.

Should be a decent game and i'd expect Portsmouth to sneak it by the odd goal probably 1-2.

Pompey are a good team and the squad is littered with good players, so they are obviously going to win many more games than they lose. Today we just weren't at the races in the first half and it allowed them to get a foothold in the game and grow from there. You could see the opening goal coming and from that point on, knowing how poor we were, I was happy to take being 0-1 down at half time.

Second half was better and we had Pompey beaten on a good few occasions, but we just didn't make it count once we got to 1-1. Easter's shot that hit the post highlights our complete lack of luck at the minute, as it hit the post instead of curling in as it looked for all the world like it would do. Portsmouth then go up the other end and score with near enough their only shot on target in the second period and it's game over, because you just knew we weren't going to be able to score. It has been our Achilles heel so far and will continue to be until January IMO.

We can't complain as we were beaten by the better team, but on our second half showing I think defeat was slightly harsh. We now have trips to Hartlepool and Morecambe in the next 7 days (thanks Football League, you horrible *****), so hopefully we can keep our decent away form going and get some points on the board.

The last four games should have suitably recalibrated Rovers' fans' expectations. Played four of the best seven sides in the division and scraped just one last-minute point, without ever really being out of the games. Think you'll be in a mini league with AFCW and Mansfield for 11th, 12th and 13th.

Pompey are going to take some stopping this season.

That's a bit patronising but probably fair. We've been half decent but without a finisher you're probably right.

Not trying to be patronising - I've got all the time in the world for Rovers' fans and as a club in general.

Just think some of the pre-Orient-match optimism was misplaced, and Chris Lines' post-match comments are being shown up as a little deluded. No disgrace at all in a solid mid-table finish in your first year back in the League - will give you plenty to build on.

4 points from Oxford and Bristol Rovers away is very decent.

Very disappointed in our performance yesterday bar a couple of 10 minute spells. Too deep, meant we couldn't get attacks going at all. Portsmouth have a lot of quality but when you sit back like we did you're asking for trouble!

Some points from Hartlepool and Morecambe would be welcome.

I think we deserved it in the end. Roberts was the difference when he came on and that's the difference between ourselves and a lot of other teams in this division. Our squad is much stronger than the last couple of seasons.

At least the memories of the 2-0 defeat there two seasons ago can be banished now.
