Read that players signed before this is implemented will be counted as earning £1.8 00 a week..£68k a year....
In effect players such as Doyle will have very little impact to our coming £1.5m budget.
Bolton and Salford who have recruited early will be at a great advantage compared with clubs who cannot recruit because they do not know when they are going to start getting money coming in.
Would be better to bring it in from next season....Thoughts??

depends on the club - some won't average that wage anyway. I heard somewhere that Morecambe had the lowest average wage last season at £1100/week - so anyone near that won't be effected anyway.
In Salford's case they spent loads of money on the wrong type of player last season and wasted a lot of it.
In Bolton's case it depends on who else they recruit;- it's fine having 3-4 big names, but if the rest are not up to it then you don't win the league. IF Evatt sticks to the same basic plan as he had at Barrow it will take 3-4 months for things to click properly whoever is brought in.
The one thing people are forgetting is that even though it will only count as the average wage the club still has to pay the full wage...

It is not a case of Bolton/Salford to a lesser extent Bradford buying 3/4 or four players and saying the rest are not up to it.

Those three teams will have a big advantage because they will cherry pick the rest of there squad because they will
have wiggle room to offer more than the rest of the league.
I am saying it is not going to be a level playing field which is what the cap is supposed to be.

But those clubs who have recruited players now on big salaries are 100% dependent on them working out. If Doyle is the Bradford version for you, you won’t be able to either offload him or replace him as you’ll have maxed out on the cap and any other club who may want him can only offer the cap maximum. He’ll, obviously, sit on his arse for 3 years picking up his mullah.

Which is why giving a good budget to a rookie manager with no league experience is a recipe for disaster. Ask Mansfield fans what rookie manager Dumpster did with the best budget in L2 last season.

Hard to say who will have what financial clout because for example Bradford may only be allowed less than half their usual attendances or even lower so could be a factor depending how long stadium capacity is limited. Similar for Bolton.

Vale are lucky as let’s say it’s worst case 25% capacity we can still get roughly 5000 which isn’t far off normal for us. Clubs with smaller grounds will be heavily impacted if they usually have high occupancy... if a club has a 6000 stadium but can only allow 1500 in when they usually get 3500-4000 it would be a huge loss financially this season.

Not to mention the likely case than the first few games will be fanless (although our manager isn’t convinced clubs will go ahead with the 12/9 date as it was agreed by clubs before the gov announcement of October.)

*One of the best budgets

I did try warning some of you lot on here, but you kept saying Mansfield will come good eventually.

Also, not that it would make a difference but he was only able to make 5/6 signings because we already had plenty under contract.

There's a bit of a difference between an academy manager stepping up, and appointing somebody who has taken a club from the bottom of the league below to promotion on a modest budget. Evatt's signings have been one of his biggest successes at Barrow.

Not at all...That is what i am saying Doyle will be classed at 68k Salary....So i would expect us to sign another to step in on the cup games or if doyle is carrying a knock. We also have Faal who scored 20 in 23 last season for Enfield town but he is a big unknown

You seem to be evading my point.

If Doyle turns out to be the Bradford Doyle you are still committed to paying his full contract for 3 years. You will not be able to replace him in January cos you’ll have maxed out the cap. You won’t be able to offload him as he’ll have to accept the max available - £68k - and he won’t do that, obviously.

In seasons gone by clubs with rich owners could afford to leave Doyle on the bench/training with the youths and go out and get a replacement.

This is shit or bust (yet again) for you.

If the cap had been in place before the start of last season we could never have signed Doyle because he wouldn’t move for hugely less wages than he was getting at Bradford and Bradford couldn’t have offloaded a patently underperforming player that had a huge impact on their budget - thus scuppering their chances of revamping their squad.

four players newly signed plus crawford x68k 340k ...five players under 21 do not count plus Delaney,Faal Edwards, and Brockbank......That is Fourteen players on roughly 500k or around a third of the permitted cap.

In reality we are proberbly well over the £1m mark.

I think they were floating the idea about homegrown and under 23's weren't included, but who knows, I wouldn't trust the EFL to know what the hell they were doing

Can't see that happening to be honest - but if it did 2/3 of our team must be under 23...

imaging a salary cap with that rule in the Premier League when Man Utd had the class of 92 come through....

There's certainly an argument to give up on the idea of a salary cap for this season. If one is imposed, it needs to be with a level playing field, so the date at which player signings should be deemed average wage needs to be put back. However, can't rely on the EFL to do anything right.

In our paper it states anyone who signed before that date would be counted as £1300 per week. Meaning ( if you can ) better to sign players now rather than later.

yeah if you work back from the £68k it comes to £1300 so i'm guessing putting £1.80 was a typo...

It's fucking scandalous and rewards those that recklessly spent early. Absolute joke if true.

Quite a few articles on this matter.....Salford Bolton Bradford Vale and Mansfield will certainly be at a advantage
Can't wait to see which of these teams fucks up their season. You've pretty much written it in order of preference for me there. Maybe switch Vale and Stags round.

Why we haven't spent much as yet? A right back from Oldham on a free and an out of favour striker from Salford on a free?

I dont think many fans are getting it....a free on £2k a week is just over £100k a year
Where is that money coming from if the is no revenue !

Yeah, I'm just checking my sources now and you maybe shouldn't have been on that list that wasn't mine. However, @GaryEFLAgent on Twitter is going to be Tweeting some ITK Vale financial stats soon so your case is currently pending.
