My first 'live' game in ages. Since lockdown we've moved out of London to Northamptonshire and have just realised this is the country the train planners forgot. To get to Stevenage I have to either go through Peterborough or London. Can't be arsed with either of those so it's a quick in and out job (the wife is well used to that, ho ho) with the car.

We're still very much a work in progress and to be honest are quite lucky to be on 10 points. Jonny Williams who created our winning goal is on international duty and his energy will be missed. Would take a draw.

Tough game in Bradford away.

I can see Andy Cook getting a couple against us.

2-1 Bradford win, Cook x2

This will be the first time have been able go to a game at VP since pre-lockdown so looking forward to it. Win this and although it’s been nothing earth shattering we will have had a decent enough start I feel given a new team.

Interesting game against Rochdale. Seems to me from the limited action so far this season they might be a more effective away team than at home as it progresses.

Would expect Conlon to start maybe in place of Brad Walker and get Pett in the holding role, Garrity has earned the right to keep his spot. Also feel the Wilson and Proctor partnership is the way to go for us as a first choice and then Rodders as an impact sub if required.

Rochdale have never won a league game at Vale Park in 20 odd visits… so we know great win yesterday, positivity flowing… que soft home defeat!

Need to really push on now and with Swindon away after this where we never win ever we could really do with another three points.

2-0 Vale Proctor and Wilson to finally bag one.

I'm trying not to think of Pools visit and being bested by Dave Challinor's patchwork squad who've come good quickly. Maybe a bit more hopeful IF we get someone better up front before the window shuts, but after August's transfer inertia, I'm not holding my breath.

DC has pulled together what looks like a good team so far with what limited time we've had to cobble one together, we're still missing (like most) that experienced centre forward which we might get in before Tuesday? playing with two young loanee's upfront, one of which is a winger by trade but not looking out of place up top with three goals from three.

We've won all three of our home games and lost our only away to Barra, which was a sloppy defensive performance from us, despite your slow start I'd be happy with a point here.

Hoping we have a few more bodies in and back from injury for this one. Cooper mentioned he's trying to bring a couple in over the weekend.

It’s hard to see anything other than a Salford win the way we’ve been playing. It’s not just a blip that we’re going to get out of, we’ve been atrocious for the whole of 2021.

Walsall at home. We've got Levi Sutton and Oscar Threlkeld back for this after injury which is a huge boost as both have been missed. Also will hopefully have a striker signed before the deadline to replace Angol who has also been missed.

Play like we have done for the majority this season and we'll win. Play like we did yesterday and we'll get nothing.

Carlisle's record in 2021

W - 8
D - 12
L - 10

Hardly atrocious, i would snap your hand off for that

I believe as it’s an international weekend it will be available this weekend even to U.K. viewers.

We’ve been atrocious. You may think that record is good, I think it’s shit. Two of those W’s were the first two games of 2021 as well by the way, before our performances/form hit freefall. We’ve been really poor on the whole, barring 4 possibly 5 games at most.

Interesting that we aren't favourites considering we are at home and FGR were beaten on Saturday. I guess they just look at the table.
Or they have studied hard and realised that we might have a problem in midfield, with Collins, Atangana and Dieng injured, and Kite suspended.
There may be a signing today or tomorrow to boost the midfield, or he could do a reshuffle.
Either way, I'm hopeful of a win and a good game.

I’m looking forward to the game with FGR. We have certainly improved and I’m mildly disappointed we didn’t win at Harrogate even though Harrogate had won all their previous games. FGR have had a strong start but I take comfort from Vale beating them at the weekend. I’m expecting a few goals in this one with both teams going for the win from the off.

Daventry effectively. Small village a stone's throw away.

I have the joys of a Long Buckby to London commute when I have to go back into the office probably next month.

Was only joking I’ve not been out that way enough to give an opinion.

Bit far from my own village just north of Northampton

That's fair enough, I've only been here 7 months and it seems a fairly harmless enough market town. The locals are a bit odd mind all questioning why the fuck we have moved here as 'Dav' is a shithole. When I then ask how long they've lived here the answer is always 'my whole life' or a significant period of time so it can't be THAT bad! I think Northamptonshire in general has some pretty good countryside which was the reason we upped sticks from London.

See a fair few NTFC shirts in town but way more Northampton Saints shirts. Few villa knocking about as well.

Yeah some lovely countryside round here, the towns are very run of the mill but the villages surrounding them are lovely

Saints outstrip our crowds but the loyalty isn’t as strong I don’t think, when they were crap a few years ago crowds dropped by a few thousand pretty quickly. Late 90’s crowds were 2,500 or so I think.

Also get 5-6,000 at the twenty20 cricket in the summer which is always a good night

MASSIVE sporting town

Newport at the Dave. We keep winning there for no apparent reason - including a 4-zip evisceration in our relegation season - so probably due a bad one down there. Newport seem to be very bad going forward and we’re generally immense at the back, so my money’s on a 0-0. I’d take that right now; we’re getting some horrific/difficult trips out of the way early, and if we keep drawing every away game until the fixtures soften in mid-October I’ll be content.

FGR won first five games of season to go top of table but then lost the next/last three.
Exeter have an excellent record against their West Country cousins, so sadly I will not be overly surprised if they continue their winning ways against FGR.

Isn't Corby the largest town in the UK not to have a train station?

Also all this talk of Northamptonshire residents commuting to London reminds me of a comment Stuart Maconie made, regarding the fact that most southerners consider Northampton to be 'up north' and Watford Gap to be the entry point into the land of pies and whippets. He saw an advertisement for Northampton in something along the lines of 60 miles by road or rail, implying it was a good place to commute to London from and commented that Northampton couldn't be in the North, as no self-respecting northern town would try and make a virtue of its proximity to London.

Corby is in Scotland (or at least many of its residents think it is).

Corby got a train station over 20 years ago.
I think that dubious honour is now with Newcastle under Lyme
