Seems there are no Barnsley fans on this site ......anyway

I usually have a look at the oppositions message board after a match to get the other sides opinion.
This season our 3 away league matches have seen a 1-1 draw at Bradford, Oldham and yesterdays 2-1 win at Barnsley.

One common theme from most of those teams supporters ....Shrewsbury are a poor team who will go down!

For me it's more a case of perception and shows how far Shrewsbury have fallen the last 15 years huffing and puffing in league two apart from 2 years of struggle in League One 2012 to 2014!

Driving back from Barnsley and listening to Radio Sheffield, had to smile at the Tykes moaning that Barnsley should not be getting beat by likes of Shrewsbury of all teams.... the cheeky G*ts!

We shouldn't be, certainly not at home.

The "we shouldn't be losing at home to ..." comment is one I've heard plenty of times from Town fans after losing at home to a smaller club.

With regard to yesterday, it was important to register our first win of the season in terms of morale after the last couple of weeks. It was also nice to see a bit of a change of fortune yesterday, i.e. last minute winner from a fortuitous deflection, scrappy and dubious looking opening goal etc. Not to mention Barnsley not getting a penalty for the foul on Crowley as we've had some very soft penalties awarded against us so far this season.

James Wesolowski injured again though so we're potentially now very short in terms of midfield options having seen Ryan Woods and Martin Woods leave the club during the last week.

Should mention I'm chuffed Jordan Clark has found a good home btw. Was gutted for him when he was released.

I thought Shrewsbury were poor in the first half and we would have been well out of sight but for some horrendous finishing. The second half though, Jesus Christ. Seemingly settling for a point at home in League One vs a team who were yet to register their first win, then letting a home grown youngster we released run unopposed into the box in the last minute of injury time . . .

It's not so much that "we shouldn't be losing to teams like Shrewsbury/Fleetwood/Crawley/Rochdale et al.", but it grates when you have a strong, talented team who can't or won't go for the jugular, do the simple things right or even have more than a couple of shots on target at home. Deeply, deeply frustrating that we look to be in for another season of having a good team that's poorly managed and can't string together several consistently good, or even average performances. I wish Johnson would grow a pair and bench a couple of the 450 midfielders we have instead of trying to cram them all in and then have Winnall isolated up top. We've brought in a quality forward in Michael Smith, have a pacy, tricky winger in Harris and a good young full back in George Smith, yet Johnson insists on this stupid 4-5-1 bollocks and doing precisely what he said he wouldn't do, cramming square pegs in round holes. Play to our strengths and go 2 up top, 4 in midfield and 4 in defense and bollocks to your "philosphy". Or we'll just suffer more turgid performances and defeats and people will stop turning up.

I try and be as level headed as possible, once I've had time to reflect on games. You look like a team that will struggle in this division. You spawned a goal from a set piece and then made absolutely no effort to come out of your own half until late in the game when we took our creative players off and opted to hoof it. You were in all honesty as poor a team as I've seen in our most recent spell in league one, but credit to you for staying in the game and snatching it at the end. Savour the win and good luck for the season.

Wesolowski sustained another cruciate ligament injury at Barnsley, to the same knee as in January, and will now be out for 9 to 12 months.

Me and most Oldham fans I know didn't think you were too bad. Mid table I reckon.

Christ. Seems he was rushed back a bit if his initial injury was only 8-9 months ago? Hopefully he'll make a quicker recovery than suggested, absolutely rotten luck that.

28 games last season until he did his knee ligaments on January 17th. He missed one game prior to that, against Chelsea in the League Cup where he got injured in the warm up, but he was back for the next game.
