We never do well at Southampton. Ive been to St Mary's 3 times, we havent scored, but managed to score 3 of Southampton's 5 goals for them!

Feeling a bit more positive now Martinez has said both Mirallas and Deulofeu are fit but doubt both of them will start which defeats the object. Id take a draw now given our awful record there, and the way we played for most of Saturday.

Wish I was as confident of a home win as the Everton fans are.

Good goal. Saints destroyed on the break.

Barkley should've scored there, but he's looking good. Played through Koné as well for the goal, and though it was a simple pass it was the right one. A lot of players would try to hollywood that one up to Lukaku.

0-2 at half time, Everton looking quite impressive. But Southampton have been underwhelming, with no idea at all to handle any one of Everton's two most dangerous players. It's as if they didn't realize Lukaku would probably play.

We will be looking over our shoulders this season if this is going to be our team.

We are missing Alderweireld and Schneiderlin too much.

I actually thought that your front four looked quite good, but the mid two of Davies/Wanyama isn't anywhere near working. Reminds me of the Lucas/Mascherano-partnership at their worst, in the sense that neither is individually poor but they sort of take eachother out at times.

I reckon you're going to need a much more creative nr 10 for the Davies/Wanyama-partnership to work. As for the back four, they're not awful.

That current back four is abysmal. Yoshida was bullied for their second goal. Cedric looks awful compared to Clyne defensively and I'm not even going to get started with Targett...

Whilst I see your point, I think Targett affects the other three more than most poor left backs. He doesn't cover the cross at all, which is a bit weird to see for a full back. I think Newcastle scored their second from his flank as well? I think replacing him could do wonders for the other three, even though Yoshida/Fonte doesn't look a great partnership at times.

We got what we deserved. Well done Everton.

A joke of a transfer window from us so far.

Targett is our only option at the moment. Bertrand is expected back end of this month.

Alright. Still unsure about Soares but I reckon a decent left full back could improve your back four quite a bit. The problem though is that once Bertrand is back, Soares will be targeted and then you're just back to square one if he handles it like Targett.

What a shit game. Our summer recruitment has been shocking compared to last and that's without mentioning the fact we've been chasing one centre back from Celtic all summer after failing to recruit Alderweireld.

I rate Everton as one of the bottom five sides in the Premier League this season. So to get thrashed by them at home is shocking.

Everton supposedly want that CB as well so let's hope he wasn't watching today....

Bottom five?! No chance.

Looking at the table, they're better than Villa, Watford, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Norwich and now us. West Brom have the Pulis factor. So they're around about there, especially if they pick up a few injuries, as outside of their first eleven they haven't got a lot else.

i can think of at least 5 internationals that didnt play today, we will be top 4 to 8 easily with no Europa this season mark my words

 Bottom five? Outstanding! We were dogshit last season and still finished 11th. Big boost to get such a big win in our first away game too, as we were poor away from home last season.

Thought Barkley looked poor again until he had a hand in the first goal, then suddenly he looked like a different player. Played the counter attack to absolute perfection, despite Coleman being the only natural wide player on the pitch. Lukaku at his best bullying defenders all over the place, we actually gave him service and see the difference! Like I said, Barkley was excellent, made all the right decisions with his passes, though like the second half last week, it definitely helped him having two players ahead of him. Kone played well again, held it up very well and linked up well with Lukaku again.

Few tweaks to the central midfield, and a few players to come back, maybe its not all bad.

Thought Barkley and Kone were outstanding today. Barkley still has the odd mistake in him but I reckon we're starting to see the proper player in him emerge. Good to see a decent performance from Kone to get the boo boys off his back. Wasn't expecting to win by such a margin as we're a 'bottom 5 side' but nevermind, it made the journey home that much more enjoyable. :fing:
