Sooooo,

The first eagerly awaited game of our season with localish rivals Grimsby coming to town.

They always travel well in good numbers and voice, and clearly Notts police think world war 3 will break out with the ridiculous kick off time, which will have come as a disappointment to all.

A welcome addition back to the league they've started solidly if not spectacularly, and will be a good test for us at home. The last time we met was a 2-0 home win for Mansfield on our 12 match unbeaten run in winning the conference, but we're very fortunate to do so as Grimsby ran the show in the first half - whoever that lad from hull was a level above.

I'd be expecting a draw or a Grimsby win, Murray simply doesn't understand or have the balls to set out a winning team at home, and has only won 1 in 4 so far, all against winnable sides.

Should be a good one.

That Hull lad was Jamie Devitt!

Should be a very good game, with at least 1600 of us coming. Can't say I'm too fussed about the KO time, but then again, I live fairly local.

Lost our last two visits to Mansfield so I'm expecting another loss, though quite a tight game. At least Matt Rhead can't score against us again!

That's the lad. have you sold out then?

If you score early expect the home crowd to turn, we've been supportive but the effort at home had been piss poor recently

There's no chance of us winning this, especially with home disadvantage. Just to score would be a minor miracle.

Mansfield haven't scored in forever so a good time to play us were you are guaranteed at least 1

Murray fines our players if we shoot at goal. Don't worry

Can't wait for this one, 7 of us going in my petrol guzzler gonna have a cracking day out whatever the result.
I actually prefer the early kick off time so were not hanging around in the morning waiting and it's not exactly a long drive.

You may have to help us out and put one through your own net for us
At some point in the game someone will do a suicidal pass accross the back 4 that will get you someone through 1 on 1 as we are becoming masters of this art.

That they may, but all 11 players will be in our half when/if you do that, so won't be there to intercept it

My two favourite things in the universe are:
1) Reading comments of forever morose fellow Stags fans.
2) Driving rusty 9" nails through my ballbag in to a wet cobbled street.

1-0 Stags.

Unfortunately, it's how we are currently.

We're moving slowly, slowly, slowly in the right direction, but good lord it's tedious.

Points come before entertainment, but if there are fans at home totally happy with our showings at Field Mill then good for them.

The pub across the road from the ground near the river used to allow away supporters in.

That closed down donkies years ago, then some. Was known as the early doors. Away fans won't be able to go into our home bars as apparently world war 3, ISIS, Hitler, Stalin, Saddan Hussain, Vladamir Putin and general Pinochet will all converge on Mansfield at the same time - despite several being dead

Depends where Grimsby fans park - if on Nottingham Road, they'd be best to head up to the Talbot or Il Rosso (opposite one another).

Otherwise, the Railway (across the bridge from the away end and across the retail park) is a cracking pub, just small

The police are doing they're very best to make this as farcical as possible as per. No designated pub for Grimsby fans so we can all mill about town together but they'll shut a gate at the ground to keep us apart. How the fuck do these moronic c*** deal with Forest v Derby, Leeds, Newcastle, Villa etc.

The thing is with visits to Mansfield, the town centre is right on the doorstep of the ground, so there's plenty of boozers within earshot of Field Mill, if you were willing to venture in to the scruffy bowels of town. However, the daft 12:15 kick off time is likely to scupper any away fans and their perfectly acceptable wishes for a pint - Notts Police clearly go along with the 'town full of knuckle-draggers' adage, as we have historically been treated differently to the Nottingham clubs in almost every way. I'd suggest that Mariners fans go for a scoop on their way in to town, though unfortunately the northern route from junction 29 of the M1 is devoid of anywhere worthy of a beer. The Rufford used to be a decent location until it got turned in to one of those 'unlimited heaps of mint sauce' eateries.

Enjoy your trip Grimsby fans (though not too much), bring a camera and you can take plenty of photos of local neanderthal carrying dinner over one shoulder and neanderthal woman-folk under the other arm, amongst legions of totally unnecessary coppers from the city on double time, staring from street corners and bridges, whilst being judgemental under funny shaped hats.

The majority of our fan base will love Il Rosso. It serves excellent prawn linguine in a creamy white wine sauce and has gluten free options as well. Wash down with a light and crisp Pinot Grigio it will be a real hit with some our followers from the Nunsthorpe estate...

I'm coming from the a46 to the south so Talbot for me I think...

Will the game have to kick off at 12.15 at Blundell Park too?

I can understand it for Doncaster and Chesterfield (maybe county) but Grimsby? really? always seemed a nice, decent bunch to me.

What will Notts police to when Luton (we've had issues in the past) and Portsmouth come to town? play at 8am? on the moon?

They'll be bouncers on the door of The Talbot pal, so either ditch the colours or find somewhere else - There's several pubs coming in to town from the A46 route, through Rainworth: Golden Eagle, Widecombe Fair, Oak Tree, Reindeer, Brown Cow, Kings Arms - all should be fine for away supporters and happy for the custom.

Opening early is another issue though. Doubt these will open until 11 or perhaps 12 noon.

Il Rosso it is then. They do breakfast...bit pricey mind.

Do Notts Plod thinks this is a 70s throwback Miners v Dockers fixture...? Someone should point out they are extinct...

Can see why Mansfield didn't give us more tickets... Struggling to cope as it is.
