As I have said a few times, I have treated myself to a new telescope. Now there may be a limited audience for this thread but I wondered if anyone had any tips, pictures or stories about stargazing?

I've just had my first proper go tonight and managed to take some pictures of the moon (skies weren't clear enough to see much else).

Anyone else had any luck with their telescopes? I'm hoping I can spend a few nights over the Christmas period getting some of the planets. I'm a total novice so I have no idea what is or isn't visible at this time of the year though.

I'll add more pictures as I get them.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Not done any for years. Used to with my dad when I was a kid. Seeing things like the moons of Jupiter and Saturn's rings is just amazing.

I usually try and make the effort to see the ISS fly over too, just because YOU'RE LOOKING AT AN ACTUAL FUCKING SPACE STATION...!!!!

It's coming over on Christmas Eve, if anyone wants to tell their kids it's Santa. (And it's not cloudy)

I was quite awestruck when I first saw it fly over. It's pretty amazing. Just a shame it moves too quick to see it through a telescope!

I've just dug out some photos I took with my previous telescope and DSLR, the difference is staggering.

I was fiddling around with a few settings a while back and managed to get this very interesting shot of a moon.

Iss is coming over in about 45 minutes. To give you an idea of the speed it goes at... It's currently over New Zealand.
