In my opinion, our strongest 11 is ;

Gk: Mike Cooper

Cb: Will Aimson
Cb: Niall Canavan
Cb: Kelland Watts

Rwb: Byron Moore
Lwb: George Cooper

Cdm: Lewis Macleod
Cm: Panutche Camara
Cm: Danny Mayor

St: Luke Jephcott
St: Ryan Hardie

Subs: Luke McCormick, Gary Sawyer, Scott Wootton, Joe Edwards, Conor Grant, Frank Nouble, Dom Telford.

Still likely that we’ll sign Ben Reeves, and we’ve got some space to work in the loan market.

I would expect us to line up against Crewe:

GK: Ethan Ross (our only GK at the moment

RB: TJ Eyoma (Aaron Lewis with Wales)
CB: Monstma
CB: Joe Walsh
LB: Sean Roughan (17 year old)

CM: Tayo Edun
CM: James Jones
CM: Conor McGrandles/Jorge Grant

RF: Zac Elbouzedi/Harry Anderson
LF: Jorge Grant/Anthony Scully
CF: Tom Hopper

Injured: Adam Jackson, Liam Bridcutt (big blow and will be a few weeks away, Max Melbourne (may be fit for Saturday. Archibald not fit.

We are really, really light at the moment with not a lot of depth to speak of. Even the first XI doesn't have many first team appearances to their names.

Would expect Palmer (GK) and Morton (CF) to join before Saturday but would be surprised to see them play against Crewe.

Based on those who have appeared in pre-season, and in the absence of any senior central forwards, we're presumably going to impersonate the Spanish National team of 2012. Or possibly give Tavares and Baah a half each (both are rapid and skilful, and the latter appears to have grown a foot taller and put on some muscle in the break.)

GK Gavin Bazunu (18) IRL
RB Ryan McLaughlin (25) IRL
CB Eoghan O'Connell (25) IRL
CB Paul McShane (34) IRL
LB Jimmy Keohane (29) IRL
CDM Aaron Morley (20)
CDM Jimmy Ryan (31) IRL
RAM Alex Newby (24)
CAM Matty Lund (29) NI
CAM Olly Rathbone (23)
LAM Matt Done (32)

Subs
GK Jay Lynch (27)
CB Jim McNulty (35) SCO
CB/LB Joe Dunne (18)
LB/LM Kacper Mialkowski (16) PL
CM Ethan Brierley (16)
CM Harrison Hopper (19)
RAM Stephen Dooley (28) NI
CAM Lewis Bradley (19)
LW/F Fabio Tavares (19)
W/F Kwadwo Baah (17)

We still need to get in another CB, CM and 2 strikers, as it stands we will likely only have 2 players start who featured in our playoff final win which is far from ideal!

GK: Jonathan Mitchell
CB: Fraser Horsfall
CB: Cian Bolger
CB: Luca Racic
LWB: Joseph Mills
RWB: Michael Harriman
CM: Christopher Missilou
CM: Ryan Watson
CAM: Sam Hoskins
ST: Harry Smith
ST: Joe Nuttall

We are greatly lacking goals and Nicky Adams who is our most creative player injured. The CB's are solid, look forward to some aerial bombardment!

Seems like every team is still way short of a settled squad / the numbers required for the season.

I’m hoping this is where I hope we can gain an advantage early on in the season. Our team and system is going to be pretty much the same as last season.

I think that is going to be a huge advantage! I imagine there will still be a fair few signings around the league even after the window with the amount of free agents around.

I'd go for...

GK: Matej Kovar

RB: Paul Caddis
CB: Mathieu Baudry
CB: Zeki Fryers
LB: Rob Hunt

CM: Anthony Grant
CM: Michael Doughty

RW: Jonny Smith
CAM: Jack Payne
LW: Diallang Jaiyesimi

ST: Tyler Smith

Tyler Smith will be second or third choice striker by the time our business is complete I imagine.

The likes of Dion Conroy, Jordan Lyden, Matt Smith and Hallam Hope making up the squad from the bench.

You have no idea how much it pains me to say it, but that looks a decent starting 11.

Ours will be close to this, with possibly O'Neill instead of Kalambayi and Longman instead of Palmer if he's not yet fit. Expect a couple of the squad players to go out on loan with maybe one more loanee coming in.

LCB: Terrell Thomas (24)
CB: Will Nightingale (25, via academy)
RCB: Paul Kalambayi (21, via academy)

LWB: Paul Osew (19, via academy)
CM: Callum Reilly (26)
DM: Alex Woodyard (27)
CM: Ethan Chislett (22)
RWB: Shane McLoughlin (23)

ST: Joe Pigott (26)
ST: Ollie Palmer (28)

Subs:

GK: Nik Tzanev (23)
RB/CB: Luke O'Neill (29)
LWB: Nesta Guinness Walker (20)
DM: Antony Hartigan (20, via academy)
ST: Ryan Longman (19, loan)
ST: Adam Roscrow (25)
AM: Jack Rudoni (19, via academy)

Squad:

CB: Jack Madelin (18, via academy)
CB: Archie Procter (18, via academy)
DF: Huseyin Biler (18, via academy)
RWB: Cheye Alexander (25)

ST: David Fisher (18, via academy)
ST: Zach Robinson (19, via academy)

I'll have a go at ours. We've got a current squad of about 17 and I've no idea if we'll be going 442, 352, 433. or something else. And you could poll 10 Gills fans and have 10 different starting XI's and formations. Hard to pick.

If it were 4-4-2 (diamond) then I'd go -

GK Jack Bonham

LB Connor Ogilvie
CB Zech Medley
CB Jack Tucker
RB Ryan Jackson

DM Robbie MacKenzie
CM Matty Willock
CM Stuart O'Keefe
AM Kyle Dempsey

CF Vadaine Oliver
CF Jordan Graham

Subs - Walsh (GK) Maghoma Mellis MacDonald Coyle Akinde plus one of youngsters Woods or Bancroft.
I think I'm probably forgetting a player or 2.

Brandon Hanlan has not signed yet so can't play. Wouldn't start him in our current squad anyway. I think the young Arsenal loanee Trae Coyle might play his role and could be a star.

We still have only 2 loanees in so far (Medley & Coyle both from Arsenal), so we've 3 or 4 available spots there.
Our defence is pretty set (as last year). Midfield can perm any 3/4/5 from 7 and different positions. Up top we are still light on goals and bodies. We all need that 15-20 goal striker don't we?

Our midfield is pretty formidable in my opinion, I certainly wouldn’t want to try and defend against that. In league 2 teams often tried to double mark players like Mayor, but when we have so much strength and dangerous players right across the pitch that will no longer be possible, there’s always the risk when we line up so attacking of being vulnerable the other way so we’ll see how that pans out. Lewis Macleod at CDM also already looks a real quality edition dictating the play and a player I feel should still be in the championship from what I’ve seen so far.

Apparently Nolan is pretty much finished. Offord and Daniels will start. I’m not sure why people had Nolan ahead of Offord even when fully fit? Offord is the best young CH I have seen at Crewe. Absolutely outstanding last season.

Also Lowery is still not right after his hernia, don’t think we will see him much at first.

Stab in the dark time, isn't it? It's been the biggest turnover of players since I've been watching Lincoln. KA had a fairly high turnovers but nothing like this.

With a new squad age, new style, new league, Covid etc it all feels more uncharted territory than other clubs probably feel.

As others have said, fuck knows! We've played numerous different line-ups in pre-season games so it could be anything.

As it stands we only have 1 'keeper so probably Ross in goal (likely to sign Palmer on loan today but not sure he'll go straight into the side for tomorrow's game).

Bridcutt, Jackson, Melbourne injured and Lewis on international duty with Wales U-21s so they won't be starting.

I expect Guernica is not far off though. The trialist we just signed (Remy/Ramirez Howarth) might start. Scored against Forest U23s in the week in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

In contrast we have the highest turnover of players in the division in terms of minutes played by players last year and still with us this year. I think we might get a pasting off you lot tomorrow. A totally new squad with an average age of 23 and playing a totally new style of football. It'll at least be interesting...

Ok pretty much the same as last season, apart from Bass having a mare and getting injury v Stevenage and being dropped. Still hoping for a new CB and CM before saturday - failing that it'll be the following v Shrews

Will either be a 433/451 or a 4231 depending on how the midfield is setup.

GK - MCgillivary

Bolton Downing/New CB Raggett Brown

--------------- Naylor

------- Morris Evans/New CM

Harness -------------------- Curtis
----------
---------------- Marquis

GK - MCgillivary

--------------Naylor Morris

Harness Evans Curtis

--------------Marquis

Subs: Turnbull (GK) Mnoga, Whatmough, Williams, Close, Cannon, Harrison

Need the back 4 to be better than they were v stevenage as that was a horror show

Hoskins probably done his hamstrings, so i'd imagine might be out for a few weeks. At the moment I'd imagine that Lines will replace him to start with unless we manage to land a target soon.
