Not sure what to make of this game, the announcement of Westley coming in albeit not for this game may lift the Stevenage players, plus our form has been abit inconsistent in the last month or so. I still think we've got plenty of goals in the team, it's the other end where I worry, Nolan and Hunt have both been making costly mistakes, which we've got to cut out. Really need to be winning these games though if we're serious about challenging for promotion.

Stevenage 1-2 Crewe (Guthrie, Kirk, Lowery) 2,429 (220 Crewe)

Since the FGR postponement in late October we have had some horrendous luck. Bar two abject displays against Vale and Northampton though and an average one against Colchester I genuinely believe we've played quite well in all our league games since then. Poor finishing has cost us maximum points on a couple of occasions but we remain hard to beat and in a position that befits our quality so far this season.

It's been a strange season that's seen weather and financial problems cost us two games (albeit we've now played one of those rescheduled fixtures) and two referees injured in the same game which led to one linesman running the line at Accrington. I think the festive period will see the normality we need to restore our momentum though and we'll be fit and raring to go for this Christmas period. I expect a win tomorrow and I reckon we'll get a nice 2-0 professional performance to go into Salford with a bumper away following and tons of optimism.

Strange game. Been like a training match at times, creating chances with ridiculous ease and finally taking 2 goals. That really should be enough, no reason to blow it from here.

Get that 3rd goal to really kill it off and rest up for Boxing Day.

That was ridiculously easy. I can't decide who are worse, Morecambe or Stevenage. It was like playing a Conference North team at times. Carved them open with incredible ease, should have been 2 up before we eventually did score. Goals one and two were the exact same. Quick ball to Kirk in acres of space, quick ball across the box, tap in. 3rd, high line punished with a good Powell finish. 4th a header the keep should save at his near post. 5th, an own goal from another cross. Easy afternoon all round.

Slightly annoyed they switched off and gave Stevenage an undeserved goal, but overall a dominant performance not even played in top gear either. Needed 3 points today and got them.

The next 2 will be much tougher as Salford are hard to beat and Scunny are in form and flying up the table.

Good to see us put these lesser teams to the sword and score some goals. That's 10 goals Vs Stevenage and Morecambe in recent weeks.

Chuma is on fire also. 4 goals in 3 games for the big guy. Porter is going to struggle to get back in at the moment.

Genuinely think Stevenage's best hope of survival is Macc going bust. Easily the worst side we've played this season given they were at home and Morecambe always play badly at our place regardless. Stevenage were totally devoid of any end product whatsoever and they were carved open at will by our football on a regular basis. Having seen washed up Graham Westley's failures at Newport and Barnet in the last few seasons, I have significant doubts he'll revitalise Stevenage in 2020.

As for ourselves, excellent performances by all concerned. Our second goal was one of the best team goals you'll ever see and our third goal was an excellent finish by Daniel Powell. We could have had even more but let's not be greedy. This is the best Crewe side I've seen since the 2002-03 season, where our away record was also devastatingly brilliant. Keeping up this away form is crucial if we want automatic promotion. All the top sides will have strong home records, but away form is the difference between promotion, playoffs and missing out completely...

Charlie Kirk easily my man of the match. Quite why some of our ridiculous fans would boo him I'm absolutely unsure. The man is one of the best wingers in the league.

it was pathetic last weekend when he was creating everything almost single handedly, with his end product just not falling his way, yet got shit loads of abuse (round me) and jeered for the MOTM award. There’s always a player who a section of our fans love to dislike, the only consolation for Kirk is our best ever player Dean Ashton was once the most hated man in a Crewe shirt (not that anyone will admit to booing him week in week out now).

What gets me confused is that we have a player who is statistically one of the best and gets booed and we have a player who came into the team with him at the same time who, despite being a nice and quiet lad compared to Kirk, is woefully inconsistent, underachieves and has 1 good game in 10 and he'll get all the support he needs from fans who still claim he's "class".

Neither should be booed of course because they're playing for us and they've not done anything wrong to upset the fanbase, but it is strange how a minority of fans give Kirk shit but Ainley never gets it. Logically, you'd have thought it'd be the other way round and then you could probably see why despite being disapproving of it.

If it's older fans maybe they don't like the flash modern footballer that Kirk is, if it's younger fans I think Charlie might've stolen a girl from under their noses in Nakatcha's. Either way they need to get over it whatever their reason for criticising him is.
