Im from near Mansfield and i live in Cheltenham so

Ive spoke to a few fans who despite being incredibly poor still think cheltenham are a very good side that could still go up:brill: (that was a few weeks ago so its probably not possible now but made an interesting score thread title haha)

I watched them last year when they won the conference and kept saying how shocked i was because they were f***ing awful in the games i saw despite being top of the league, well i guess its shown that i was right because they've been the same this year against better teams and their league position shows their true quality. At least someone like Eastleigh or Forest green didn't come up so thank you cheltenham for that.

Pitch is crap, probably worse than newport but is the same for both teams.. although one is used to 'playing' on it.

We've shown what a top side we can be since Evans took over but i feel he's still one transfer window away from having his ideal side that can really challenge. Slight dip in form lately but if were really aiming for playoffs and are good enough we should beat Cheltenham. Hopefully a better game than the 1-1 draw two seasons ago. COYS!

Can see us losing this. We are too wasteful infront of goal, I hope Green and Rose are fit. Shearer might have kept a clean sheet the other night but he didn't have a deal to do and the things he did worried me. If Cheltenaham score I can't see us scoring twice but hopefully we have put the shooting boots on the coach this week.

Which games did you watch last year WH_Stag, out of interest? We had the odd poor performance (and usually won anyway) but largely played everyone off the park every week.

We've been one of the form teams in the league since all the January changes and should be looking up rather than down. Would be nice to extend our run of wins and clean sheets but I'll predict a 1-1 draw.

Cant remember exactly who, probably all the rubbish at the bottom, was playing but a couple of games were 5/6-0 and it was baffling how cheltenham kept scoring because the movement and passing etc was like watching a pub team, i had no idea how they kept getting away with losing the ball and doing basic things wrong but the kept putting the ball in the net. I went to about 6 or 7 games including an fa cup replay (which was the worst game I've ever seen) and the quality on show was average at best but they kept winning against very shit teams, it was like teams were scared of you for some reason and put in no effort.

That said all the small errors that you get away with in the conference you don't in this league and the first few games i went to this year the same things were happening and cheltenham were finally deservedly being beaten. It reminded me of when we went up, we won a lot of games and looked really good but when it came to the league we just weren't good enough and its still taking us time to rebuild a decent squad and i think the same will happen to you lot.

I don't think cheltenham are the worst side in the division now though and should be hard to beat and if we don't turn up we'll get hammered. Exited for this one. Hoping for an entertaining game for both fans

Came across like a performance worthy of pub team today, despite playing against ten men.

Against Yeovil we seemed to perform pretty well but was not clinical enough in front of goal, today was just a pathetic performance.

The main excuses are the state of the pitch/beach which obviously benefits nobody except Cheltenham, and the fact our best two strikers and top two scorers were both out injured (Green & Rose) but they still don't make up for such a shit show, did Cheltenhams goalkeeper need to make a save?

4 points lost in our last two games, we need to start doing the business against the likes of Plymouth, Carlisle, Colchester otherwise we won't be making the play-offs.

First half we rode our luck until half-time following the red card (shocking decision btw). Second half, we realised Mansfield offered absolutely nothing, created little ourselves and saw out the 0-0 quite comfortably.

4 points from two teams in the top 10, 4 games unbeaten, 4 clean-sheets in those games. That should be enough for safety this season.

Bet Mansfield didn't blame the pitch for not being able to score like we did.

Comfortably? All the pressure was mansfield. That pitch really shouldn't be allowed in professional football, whilst its the same for both teams its no good for a good game, i can't imagine theres been much entertainment on show there. We couldnt do anything on it and playing it long to macdonald and hoban with a combined height of 4ft didn't make any sense.

Also the reckless challenge on whiteman, high foot, off the ground and from behind should of been a straight red and cheltenham down to 9 men, Ref Bottled it after already giving one. The First Red on McGuire was similar and i think he actually hardly made contact but the way he went in was enough for the red and was dangerous play, Two stupid tackles you see in the conference.. Again Cheltenham are hardly any different from last year, same style of football and very quiet home fans. Also do they not know you're not allowed to wipe the ball with a towel when taking a throw in professional football, ref should of spotted that.

0-0 was about right.

Can't remember who you seen them against

Maidstone, Boredom wood, woking, Eastleigh, solihull moors, north ferriby all that crap in that league don't really register as teams i can remember, they all sort of mash into one amateurish team. The year we went up i can remember wrexham and lincoln thats about it for proper teams down there. I think the fa cup replay game was against Havant or Harrogate and they were the better side by miles

I actually can't take you seriously. We get it, you don't rate Cheltenham. Did a Cheltenham fan break your heart or something?

There was literally no pressure from Mansfield in the second half until about the last 10 mins or so when we had made some changes. In the first half we struggled to get used to being down to 10 and we invited Mansfield to have all the ball. At half-time we'd worked out that Mansfield were more toothless than a 90 year old woman who at a bag a sugar every day of her life so actually decided to attack.

Regarding the towel, as long as it's available to both teams it is perfectly legal. It is made available to both teams.

It just came across as you (understandably) set up shop for a point and to hit on the break and we didn't offer anywhere near enough to win the game? something like that? I must admit I did expect to win when you were down to 10 men for so long - but these things happen - we were down to 10 men for 80 minutes against Yeovil and ended up winning 1-0. The result did annoy me somewhat - but I was more annoyed at Mansfield - if you played a blinder and we were unlucky then so be it, when you don't have a shot on target, well...

I can't agree on the tackle though, whereas i'd agree that 15 years ago that wasn't a red - with the game the way it is today, that's a red all day long - the problem - as always at this level - is the consistency shown by the ref's - which is still of a poor standard all round.

After seeing the tackle on the highlights I can see why the ref gave the red. It does look as though he's gone in, over the top of the ball and his foot has come down and it looks abit reckless. Why players commit these sorts of challenges infront of the dugouts is beyond me.

It was used to justify why Adams removed the ball boys went off towards the end of the game on Saturday.
