Normality now though, Dirty Harry would be in hiding from now until Spurs signed a young European talent which is vastly over-hyped.

Hughes really has done a very good job. He's had his setbacks but overall I think he's a very decent manager.

Southampton tired badly last season as well, didn't they? Pochettino training regime perhaps exhausting his players?

Can't you just play all reserves in every single tie if you're that worried about league form? Particularly in Tottenham's case as they have a fairly big squad.

Spurs were abject but to be fair we got at them from the first minute and played really well. They've literally gone sideways since Sherwood was in charge, it's like Groundhog Day watching Spurs flatter to deceive year on year......

Meh, yes we were rubbish, Stoke read our game so well and broke with pace while we played the ponderous 'sideways' stuff going forward giving them time to get their players back in numbers. Our defence is terrible, even our best defender Verts was a liability yesterday. Paulinho, Chirches, Adebayor, Soldado, and Townsend can all go in the summer for me, I'd gladly trade that lot for a decent striker and a decent CB.

As average as he may be, I wouldn't be selling Townsend. He still has something to offer. Just like I wouldn't have got rid of Lennon this season, he would have been playing many games for me and he's shown why at Everton, he's still a good player and would have offered more than Lamela has!

Will we be able to sell Paulinho? Didn't we spend a lot of effort trying to get him?!

Lennon is only on loan to Everton Dave, but if they don't fancy him as a purchase I hope he can bring some of that revival in form back to WHL. It has been a long time since I saw him have a good game in a Tottenham shirt. As for Townsend, you may be right, but his final ball consistently is not good enough. I don't doubt his energy, his pace and his work rate, but unless Poch can get him to use his head a bit more he isn't going to trouble PL defences and if he can't do that what is he for?
As for Paulinho, sure we'll be able to sell him, but I don't think we will as Pochettino seems to like him and gives him quite a lot of game time. I'm not as despondent as some Tottenham fans have become recently - there have been a few highlights to savour this season and getting to a cup final is an achievement even if we didn't turn up on the day. We have some talented players (as well as a few too many passengers), and that defence needs some surgery - 53 goals conceded is the only stat you need to know - but we have the basis of a decent side. I'm backing Poch to do the business, but he has to be given time.
