Looking at this is surreal, Sunderland one time known as the Bank of England club such was their stature, still a massive club with matching stadium and home support, crickey you could fit the whole of Fleetwood in the ground and there would still be room to spare
We have a 100% away record with no goals conceded on our travels, something tells me that might just come to a stop on Saturday, still I think we can give this a real go, best is a draw 1-1 but no shame in losing 3-1 Comon you Cods !!

At present though we stand in the same league together both making good starts. I expect a tough game and i have no idea which way it will go, football sure is a strange game but i do however expect both teams to score in this one as we have only kept one clean sheet but we now have Wyke and Sinclair back.

League one has been exciting so far and after reading this forum and others for this league it has been a very good read and a lot of supporters with good banter.

I fancy 2-1 to one of us today as i think it will be close. Lets enjoy our first competitive match in history and hope your fans enjoy the SOL. It’ll be a good day out.

Best first post ever. If that's the attitude the rest of the club and fans show, you'll go straight back up and deserve to.

How expensive was that penalty miss ? Paddy Madden has been a stand out player this season so he will be gutted, a great performance by Fleetwood and following the game on the bbc live it looked like a really entertaining match. Onwards and upwards for the Cods 6 games now undefeated

Went to the game as a neutral (port vale fan running the GNR tomorrow).

Fleetwood were outstanding for the opening half hour and Sunderland got nowhere near them. Not sure why Cattermole and McGeouch (sp?) play so deep, sometimes getting in each others way, as it simply meant Fleetwood could control the middle of the park (because nobody was there). Sunderland scored off a rare attack and went in level (undeservedly). Stand out players for Fleetwood in the 1st half being Hunter and Evans (bullied the Sunderland defence all afternoon).

Sunderland started the 2nd half even slower than the first and gave away a stonewall peno. Madden stepped up and it was an easy save to make. This gave Sunderland a little more confidence but Fleetwood were very comfortable until the obvious onslaught from Sunderland in the last ten mins.

Really impressed with the shape and organisation of Fleetwood. They were also incredibly savvy and played some lovely stuff in the first half in particular. Sunderland looked a bit disjointed. Nothing up front until they went a little more direct with Wyke and Sinclair (maybe they need to do more of this at home) and I was disappointed with Honeyman (anonymous) and Gooch (like a dribbling child In a playground who ultimately lacks quality).

It's been 16 months since I've seen a League One fixture (since Vale's relegation) and the step up in quality is noticeable. We (Vale) are miles off this standard at present unfortunately.

Thought you lot played well. Thought we were gonna nick it at the end which would have been harsh on you. Fair result 1-1.

Your summary exactly mirrors my thoughts. Was impressed with the gound and the opposing fans I spoke to, but I was quite shocked with how Sunderland played, also home crowd for the most part very muted. Sunderland, the team, will have to get up to speed very quickly if they are to fuful their undoubted potential in this league. Cods appear to be coming on very nicely. Barton has also introduced some 'grit' into the team, something we lacked for a few seasons, often being bullied out of a game by the opposition.

One personal gripe, why whenever I drive to an away game do the transport gods decide to close a crucial road or junction, today it was the A66, following the 'diversion' resulted in a pleasant hour + drive around the moor prior to returning to my starting point.

Really disappointing 2:15. Just didn't happen for me today. Still managed to raise a bit for charity and enjoyed the day apart from the time.
