Match of the day on Saturday sees the (current) top 2 in the league face off against each other. Both sides lost 3-1 last night and will be looking to bounce back. We are still in the hunt to bring in new faces before the Transfer Window slams shut on Friday night.

Comments and thoughts welcome.

Hype!!!!!

Gonna be a bumper crowd and hopefully a great game! We've sold 1600 tickets so far and I imagine there will be a fair few more on the day.

Big tie this one, based on playing Swindon and Exeter over the past few days I would expect Swindon to win this if they get their wingers on the ball.

I don't get to the CG very often but this will be the third Swindon v Exeter game i've seen in recent years. I believe we lost both those games 2-0 and Exeter very much had our number in both games.

I expect this to be different. I fear Law in midfield and Ajose up front but I think that Grant, Lydon and Doughty can boss the middle and the trickery of DJ can supply whoever is playing up front for us.

I read that you are organised defensively but Vale were able to get in behind you last night with their pacy wingers so hopefully we might be able to do something similar. Not going to make a prediction as it stands until I know who (if) we sign this week. I'm thinking a draw at the moment. Should be a cracker with a big crowd, we've not had a match like this in a while!

At half time Dave Kevan noticed a weakness and basically we pushed the wingers up on the opposite side to play and switched it and murdered them. The sent on a lad to overload Montano at LB (11 Williams) and within 20 minutes he had been destroyed. Based on what I saw Saturday you play a similar way with Jayseimi (spelling is probably wrong) and the other side Hope was it? so assuming you had a scout there I imagine you'd be looking to exploit that.

For a team with such a great defensive record they could of conceded 6 or 7 in the second half once we made that change.

Jayesemi when he gets the ball really comes alive with his flicks and tricks (but can be greedy and tends to do too much) is a great outball for us. I haven't seen Hope yet so can't really comment but that sounds positive. I'm sure Exeter will look at what went wrong last night and look to ensure it doesn't happen on Saturday.

If Exeter are missing Law and Williams again I see a home win. Those 2 are 2 of the better players I've seen this season.

I never want players to get injured, but it would help if there was a mass brawl and five got sent off from both sides.

A draw please.

Last time we rested a few players on a Tuesday night was away to Scunthorpe, where we also lost 3-1.. Next game was Argyle at home, which we stuffed them 4-0

Same again please.

Need to sort out that LB position.. Jayden Richardson just isn't strong enough, and gets bullied by every winger he has in front of him. Put Dickenson there, Parkes & Martin CB, Sweeney RB. Sorted. Bring Law & Williams back into the starting line-up, think it'll be Collins and Richardson who miss out. Can go 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 then.

Ajose to get the winner

Hopefully Richardson goes up against DJ (Jaiyesimi) on Saturday then. I heard he got a roasting at Vale and won't fancy a winger high in confidence and getting better with every game!

I strongly suspect that Richardson will be on the bench. Randall Williams and Brennan Dickenson will play as wing backs. Wouldn’t be surprised if Moxey is recalled to the back 3 at the expense of Parkes.

Naturally, last night’s result had made me a tad pessimistic. We were decent first half but lost the plot as soon as Vale scored. It’s unlike us but we are vulnerable when the game opens up, especially if we’re chasing it

I suspect Taylor will try to set us up to disrupt and Frustrate Swindon and hit on the counter. Law will be back in and the good news for us is that Ajose is starting to score and look like a player.

Swindon have so many danger players...Yates resigning is great news for them but Doughty, Isgrove, Hope, DJ etc are all very dangerous, not to mention that new lad from Leicester who looks good. But, the league table suggests there’s very little between us and I fancy a draw, either 0-0 or 1-1.....

Either way, it will be a cracking atmosphere I’m sure and hopefully a very good game.

City to surprise everybody (including myself) by taking an early lead (Bowman) and going on to win 2-0. Wish I was going, like the away seats at the side, City win there on occasion, and lots of beer choices in the town UTC

Got a house inspection coming up and a christening on Sunday so apparently I'm tidying and not going to the football.

#missionguiltrip begins tomorrow.

The forum is back!! Be very interesting to hear the Exeter thoughts from Saturday? I thought the wind ruined the game, neither side impressed it was all very scrappy.

We were miles better with the wind - could have scored 4 or 5.

Exeter were abysmal when they had the wind - Benda never had a save to make.

Mind you, they were abysmal throughout. Wouldn’t mind their fella who scored, though.

Not one of our better days. We got the tactics wrong and set up too defensively from the outset. We do not normally do that. Too much respect for the leaders I guess. I agree the weather ruined what could have been a belter. Excellent crowd and I think Swindon deserved the win. No shame losing 2-1 away to the leaders. We will be back and have a few easier ones to come

now i've had time to mull over it I had a few thoughts from Saturday.

Randall Williams was generally excellent, he ran the show for all the good things that Exeter did. Good finish and gynastics for his goal!

I thought Exeter were well organised and strong defensively. There was a 15/20 minute spell in the first half where it looked like we would score a second during a good spell of pressure (Yates missing a sitter, keeper tipping a shot around the post) but generally we weren't at our usual attacking best. I thought Atanga grew into the game and nullified a lot of our threat.

Law and Grant cancelled each other out in midfield. Where I was sitting I had a good view of this and everytime Law got the ball Grant or Doughty were quickly onto him not giving him the time he desired. He is clearly a classy player and I thought we did well to keep him quiet.

Massive result for us, now's the test to see if Exeter can bounce back from 2 defeats in a row.

The wind died down a lot in the second half to be honest. Free 3 points for whoever won the toss.

Very bad game, neither side deserved to win.

Wow! Thought, first half, we could/should have had 3 or 4. Apart from your gift of a goal you didn’t have a shot on target all game.

A pale imitation of your excellent side of 2 seasons ago.

Is Devon Lad OK? Anyone checked on him?

He's probably disappeared for the next 12 months after our "Shit" side to his world class Exeter side apart in 45 ruthless minutes. Rumours he is suffering post traumatic episodes as it has sent back memories of his experiences against a "shit" Tranmere side last year.

Like has been said, game ruined by the wind. Don’t think we done enough to win the game, don’t think we even done well enough for a point.

Referee was shocking for both sides. Just didn’t have control over the game, players even the ball boy in the corner of the Don Rogers/Stratton bank had the referee on strings.

Annoyingly still think Argyle will win the league, then it’ll be between us and Swindon for 2nd/3rd.

Oh, also, how has the linesman missed the handball by Caddis for the second? Basically punched it to control it

To say that Paul Caddis punched the ball is a bit of a stretch and I suspect you are being cute. Can't argue that the ball bounced up and hit his hand but it was completely accidental. Whether or not that matters in this day and age is neither here or there.

If the shoe was on the other foot no doubt we would have been howling for a handball so I can understand where you are coming from.

Regarding the time-wasting the referee did come and speak to the stadium manager about it. There are few things more frustrating than time-wasting so can also understand this. The problem with having an empty stand behind the goal (Half full for the Exeter game) is that it can take an age to get the ball back into play.
