Seeing as we're doing match threads.......

Should be an exciting game at the Webbswood, with both sides gearing up for their league campaigns. Marine go into this on the back of a 3-0 defeat at home to Banbury, whereas we thrashed Kiddy 1-0 on Saturday at Shortwood. Could be a mixed team what with us playing Worthing on Tuesday (match thread to follow) but expect Drissa Traore to make an appearance, after he only returned to the squad on Saturday. Ex FGR player Jon Else will probably start for the home side, expect he'll be keen to show us what we've been missing.

Admission £8/U11's-FREE. Limited parking so fans advised to get there early, as a large crowd is expected.

Gosh Chris, you've talked me into it and I'll be there for this tip-top fixture.
Good practice for when we take on Supermarine's big brother [live on Sky] later in month.

Good stuff FGR Stroud.

Coops has already said we'll be mainly giving players who need minutes a game, and will be trying out a few different things. Should be interesting, and you never know, our new defender might make his debut if he signs in time.

Last year we finished off pre-season by putting 5 past them, thought their keeper was comically shit then realised he was actually on our books.

Nice friendly club is Swindon Supermarine. I wnet there a few season back when Premier Sports (who had the rights then), changed our game at FGR from Tuesday to a Thursday night after I'd already booked train tickets so I went down on the Tuesday anyway. Went to Chippenham v Stourbridge on the Tuesday night instead and then went to see Swindon Supermarine play Truro on the Wednesday.

Got talking to the chap on the turnstile and when he heard that I was actually staying in Swindon (which is about 7 or 8 miles from Supermarines ground), he offered to give me a lift back to my hotel. Also got chatting to a few Supermarine fans in their clubhouse too. Very friendly bunch.

Was a very friendly night out, Marine well organised but faded a bit late. They went ahead via a pen but we ran out 3-1 winners, Doidge header and a couple from Shams. Flattered us a bit but overall good run out.

Good to see Sham starting to fire.

Saw new boy Iacavitti went off early, injured already?

Sham's second was a great take-down and finish. Had Iacavitti mixed up with another new lad and missed why he came off, not injury though IIRC. We made a shedload of changes all through.

Think Sham will come into his own this season, he's still raw but has got all the attributes to be a very good striker at this level and has a great attitude. I would definitely consider starting him against Barnet, now he's got some confidence infront of goal he'll cause them a lot of problems.
