First game in charge against Carlisle for Richie Wellens - I wish him well. If he can conjure up a tune out of our misfiring, spluttering lot it will be a great effort.

Noel Hunt has come in as assistant and still holds a playing registration. He’s younger than both Taylor and Richards so may do a job until January.

I’m sure the talent is there to make the POs.

Kept you up, though! You seem to be getting results despite your claims to be shite.

No idea what to expect from Saturday, but having watched Brown's dull football recently (although the York game was quite entertaining, mainly as York were terrible) this is the first weekend in a while where I will be looking forward to seeing the line-up, way we play, and result (of course). Appointing Wellens doesn't exactly cause me to explode with delight, but I am genuinely interested and hopeful to see what he can do with us. So far, all he has said makes me positive.

I think he'll start with a win. 2-1.

Always a bit tricky predicting what'll happen against a team under a new manager, can see a draw here but wouldn't be surprised if we nicked it. Went to this game last season, and it can't be worse than that was.

I could be proven wrong, but I'm not really anticipating any huge new-manager-bounce from Swindon. Not on Saturday at least, something about Wellens being an inexperienced manager and unspectacular appointment, I tend to associate bounces with more experienced managers who have plenty of tricks up their sleeve to turn things around in the space of a week. Wellens might prove a good appointment in the long term, but I think it'll take him a bit to settle in.

If it was Swindon v Scotland then I’d want Swindon to win.

As it’s not, and it’s against Carlisle United, a club that isn’t actually based in Scotland, I’m hoping and preying for an away win.

I was at Crewe last week and whilst it was a pretty shit performance in a dismal match between two dreadful teams, we created quite a few chances (by our standards).

I do think this will be a tougher test simply because new managers usually get a performance and our lack of quality will probably show. A week ago I was confident of getting a result here until the managerial change happened.

My prediction: Swindon 2-0 Carlisle

The more I think about Wellens appointment, the more I think that this might be a good thing for the club. When we have appointed a young manager our fortunes have come good , Bobby Smith, Macari, Ardillies, Hoddle, Wise and De Canio just to name a few.
Macari came in when we were rock bottom , no money, crowds below 2000, the ground falling apart, with capacity cut to less than 10000, but the fans knew that there was something special happening, especially after he was sacked, and fans came together and put so much pressure on the board that Macari was reinstated, and we all know what occurred after that!
Carlisle, we have a pretty good record against them, and with the new manager bounce I can only see a win for us ..... sticking my neck out ...... 3-0!, with a crowd of 6500+

Everything seems to have come up Carlisle today. Where have these days been where everything seems to go in the back of the net? Doesn't sound like we've particularly dominated and the first half sounded quite even. We've just been more clinical, and Swindon maybe fading a bit now the lead is three goals.

On a side note, hope that James Dunne's baby is OK.

Some times you have to hold your hand up and say “I was wrong”

A week ago I had us down to get a result here, not a 4-0 but something, but when they changed manager I genuinely expected Swindon to give a reaction and win, especially as we’re without our captain.

But it sounds like we were simply too good and efficient today. A very pleasant Saturday afternoons work.

I want us to do this at home to someone. It would do wonders for the general mood around the place if we could batter someone 4 or 5.

Wouldn’t get too excited. We are truly terrible.

Douglas Bader would have run rings around us today

Very much here for the World War 2 legless fighter pilot reference. Bit obscure but I like it.

Don’t worry, it takes a lot more than one 4-0 away win for me to get carried away.

Carlisle United fans are used to constant disappointment so we’re well aware that another shit show could be just around the corner.

On a rather sad note, Dunne went off early in the first half as his newly born son was taken ill.

Hope all goes well.

Been on a downward spiral since the Preston play off final and it continues to dig deeper and deeper. Where does this end? Bromley and Barrow if we can't turn ourselves around.

We haven't been the first team to score first in a home league game this season. Shocking. Well done Carlisle. Scoring 4 away is no mean feat but we are a rotten football club at the moment, really rotten indeed.

Carlisle had won once in 20 at our place until today. Record books go out the window this season. We are minging, truly pants.

Not been a great time for the relegation class of 2017 has it... bar oddly the most messed up of the four of us in Coventry!

Rico was pinging them in for you last season what’s happened with him out of interest?
