Could be a bit spicy this one, what with ex-Stag Donohue likely to face the club he got sacked from a short time ago. One performance apart (Crewe) he has been sensational at left back.

This will be a close game, I reckon. We are still very average at home and Stags have good away form - is Preston in or out?

If we can help get rid of The Dumpster with a resounding win, Stags fans can thank us afterwards!

I’ve got £20 for you to win at over evens.

Given how dire we are under dempster with his dull, insipid tactically hopeless football play anything decent and you’ll win with ease.

In a roundabout way a big win for you could be quite helpful. Will help push our board into making the decision that should have been made a month ago

The chances of me traipsing all the way down to Swindon for this is precisely nothing

Probably my last game this calendar year. I'm a bit worried about Maynard but really we should be beating Mansfield.

Which means we probably won't! That said, I'll predict a 3-1 victory.

Any particular reason for your home woes Swindon fans? Is it all down to the manager's approach/tactical set up perhaps?

Almost every side has parked the bus and we struggle to break them down. Playing away the home teams are more open and we’re pretty lethal on the break.

Saying that, we’ve been poor at home for years.

Just realised it’s not a home game, which is a relief and I’ll be able to enjoy my Saturday.

Any time we have performed half decent it’s been away so I suppose we can come away with something.

You haven’t reached the stage yet whereby you would relish a tonking just to ensure the manager gets the shove?

Another loss, another game without a goal.

All hope is lost unfortunately this season.

Any fan with an IQ higher than a goat can’t possibly still want dempster in place.

Time for a change

Dont give up Adam. The second half you played really well, so well in fact that Wellens had to change his formation.
You were well on top for periods, but thanks to some frantic defending you could well have equalised and if you had it could well have been a different xtory

Sounded like a very open game that could have gone either way. Fortunately Doyle did what he seems to do every week and scored the winner for us.

You don’t need to worry about Mansfield under dumpster, we just never win.

His efforts with a side good enough for promotion this season is actually remarkable, what he’s doing really is quite spectacular - achieving the almost impossible.

The sacking should have happened after we lost 4-0 at home to Cambridge in September.

It’s interesting though, that some fans still don’t want him sacked, which is remarkable.

There’s some who think that anyone getting sacked in any walk of life “is harsh” even though ppl getting sacked is a way of life in every institution across the board if you don’t perform.

I agree with most of those people. In ordinary life people are too easily expendable in the majority of organisations; a nasty relic of Thatcherism in most of today's organisations is anti-worker laws and legislation IMO (sorry to turn it political!) We regularly see people who are performing suddenly exited under dubious circumstances.

Everyone knows that football is a fickle sport though and I am in favour generally of football managers receiving more time. However, in this instance it has been 100 per cent clear for at least two months, maybe even longer if you read the signs in pre season that the team is going nowhere under this manager. Probably why there were only 200 odd Stags at Swindon today.

I agree - all you’ve got to do is look at our non-league neighbours notts county what can happen if you pull the trigger too often (though in fairness under a crazy chairman) to realise what can happen.
as you pointed out, sacking managers for the sack of it isn’t responsible but there were signs before the season started that all wasn’t well and this has been proven correct. He should have been sacked a month ago, yet here we still are

Impressed with Mansfield today - did a lot of things very well. Strangely, looked dodgy defensively but very sharp going forward. If you had had Doyle playing for you, you would have won.

Is Maynard usually that wasteful?

Thought we deserved at least a point today and Swindon were very relieved to get three points at the final whistle.

maynard has got seven goals this season but really should have had a lot more.

thought Swindon played well going forward but were a bit dodgy in defence, but keeper was very good.

Personally I'd give him more time to get things right, I hear he's not far from getting it right. Maybe yesterday was another example not that.

Too much hiring and firing for my liking nowadays

We have won five times this season and they are all below us.

Last month wasn’t too bad but this month proves we are just incapable of picking up picks under Dempster, he’s not got long left.

Nominated for manager of the month no less, that is considerably better than "wasn't too bad" Conks.

I agree with El Matador Stag on this one :)

We were very good for 35 minutes on Saturday and should have been at least 2 up, but Mansfield should really have gone into half time level as Maynard was profligate.

Second half Mansfield played their strength and went direct up to Cook who is an absolute beast of a target man. To be fair to him, Richie Wellens saw this and brought on Tom Broadbent who offered more physicality and nullified the threat of Cook. Again, Maynard wasted 2 very good chances and we managed to hold out for the 3 points. Mansfield are a much better side that they are currently showing, they have good players all across the field. Good 3 points for us, but I don't think the stags can be too downhearted with their performance.

He went to Macclesfield for a point and to Swindon for a win, just bizarre.

It’s down to attitude. You’re not going down, so why don’t you just replicate how you played Saturday and go for it.

Looked more than decent to me. Probably the best game seen at the CG all season.
