From a League 2 side to add to your own side and why.

For me its a toss up between Norwood and Mayor. A consistent goalscorer at this level is often worth his weight in gold but for me I would probably take Mayor. Since we lost Alzate earlier in the season we have lacked the creativity and goals from midfield. Doughty of course has chipped in but has been in and out of the team for a bit of the season and we have felt his loss.

I would like to think with Mayor in the side, our strikers would definitely have more goals in the team.

Good thread Agombar. The only problem is we've been so poor this season that I don't think it's that easy to pick just one player, though I imagine a striker should be top of the wish list. Quite a few players I like the look of in this league (such as Eardley/Bostwick/Day/Mayor/Scott Davies the Tranny keeper and Gambin the Crawley winger) but right now I think I'd go for Akinde or Norwood.

We lack goals so Norwood would be the obvious choice...

Most Vale fans who were at FGR away in the FA Cup in 2012 saw his quality and wanted us to take punt... in fairness we signed Lee Hughes in that window but he would have had a field day in that Vale side!

Weird seeing so much praise heaped on Danny Mayor, has he got on the weights yet?

Only area I'd really look to strengthen would be attack, so I'd go for walker or Norwood.

Chair from Stevenage, was taking shots from everywhere and in the end unlucky to not get a hat trick. I would imagine QPR will have a lot of enquiries should he not be featuring in their first team again.

Danny Collins would fit in our team well, ball playing CB, already a strong contender for our goal of the season and he's not even signed yet.

Danny seems to have got over his depression (rumoured) and has had 1 hell of a season.

Can I cheat slightly and say Sam Surridge. I know he’s no longer playing for Oldham but he was excellent against us at Boundary Park in December and he’d be the perfect forward that we lack since Stockley left.

For a player still playing in L2 it would have to be Norwood. Never stops running and clearly is a class act in front of goal.

Mayor/Law/Rowe are the best 3 I’ve seen attacking wise this season so any of those please.

You wouldn't take Bingham from Cheltnum?

Left back is probably our weakest position so Benning?

We’ve struggled with our keeper all season so maybe the lad from Exeter, Pym?

Also Maynard. He's a natural goal scorer, and he's one of our own.

Based on the games I've seen this season, Neal Bishop or James Norwood.

Danny Mayor. We had him on loan over ten years ago when he was still a teenager and he was scary even back then. I’ve never got round how he’s paying at this level.

Or Illais Chair at Stevenage, man likes to score worldies.

Yep. First name that went through my mind too. Great intelligence, works his arse off, brings others into the fold and can stick it in the net. Newport have struck gold getting him to sign a new deal.

Podge aside, I'd maybe look at players who are gonna get sold on for a decent fee relatively soon so maybe Perry Ng or Sammie Szmodics?

Padraig Amond from Newport. He has always played well against us whenever I have seen him play, he is also the sort of player who contributes more than just scoring goals, which is a bonus for a forward. I know we are reasonably well blessed in the forwards department, although the return or Doidge has restricted opportunity for McCoulsky, but I still think Amond would be a brilliant addition to our squad.

We're pretty well covered really but if there's something we probably miss it's a central midfielder who's able to take people on so in that respect a Mayor or O'Shea from Bury probably tick the box there?

Doidge from FGR. 100%.

You were impressed yesterday then. No doubt he's top quality at this level, you don't go for 7 figures for nothing, but his head isn't right atm. Can't blame him given what happened at Bolton tbf. Can see him going in the summer.

To be honest the only players I wouldn't swap out of Crawley for someone else are the keeper, Morris and Camara who has great energy and a trick or two.

I've not seen some of the players mentioned on the thread (Norwood) so I can't really choose them.

I will go with O'Hara from Lincoln. He just completely bossed our midfield when we played them, good on the ball and aggressive enough for a central midfielder.

I was tempted to say Harry Anderson from Lincoln because if we had him in our squad we could name a full bench as he was at Crawley when he was 16-17 years old...plus he's not a bad player.

Jordan rossiter was absolutely class against us at Gigg Lane would take him in a heartbeat but we need a striker never replaced surridge so would prob have to be Norwood

Christian Doidge which is ironic since we turned down the chance to sign him from
Carmarthen Town in 2014 after a week's trial because Justin Edinburgh thought we had 'enough strikers' He's a local lad as well.

It was ex-player Mark Aizelwood, then Carmarthen Town Manager, now doing 6 years for fraud who was keen to get the move done.

Our loss, FGR's gain.
