Ben Nugent, Ajay Leitch-Smith, Gary Roberts, Joel Grant, Efe Sodje, Luke Rodgers, Anthony Tonkin...
Quite a few ex-Crewe players have turned out for Yeovil since they became a Football League club in 2003, but this is perhaps the biggest meeting between the two clubs so far due to the implications it could have on both clubs' seasons.
Before kickoff on the 1st April, Crewe were 15 points clear of relegation. Not content with wanting to be safe before the final day as per usual, we engaged in a few poor performances whilst Newport decided to keep one-nilling. So at kickoff tomorrow, that gap is now 7 points and could easily be 4 if sides below us all win (perfectly possible). The good news is that a win for Crewe will 99.99% see us safe if results don't go our way and 100% safe if they do.
Yeovil have only won twice since they put 5 past Crawley on the 22nd November! However, they have a history of edging dull and turgid affairs between both our sides. 3 of our last 5 meetings ended 1-0 to Yeovil and a win by a two goal margin for the Glovers would take them above Crewe with 3 games to play. If Yeovil were to lose however, they could be 1 point off the drop zone with 3 games to go which would put them in an incredibly precarious position.
A draw will see Crewe hit 50 points which, if Newport were to lose at Plymouth, would mean a point from our last 3 games should definitely keep us up as our goal difference is a lot better than Newport's. Yeovil would go to 47 points which would edge them a point closer to safety but they would still probably be in the thick of the scrap for at least another week.
Crewe team will be - Garratt, Turton, Ray, Ng, Bakayogo, Bingham, Jones, Cooke, Cooper, Bowery, Dagnall. Ben Nugent went off injured on Friday so I can't see him anywhere near the starting line up and we haven't heard anything about when Jon Guthrie will be back or not for the game tomorrow.
Yeovil 1-0 Crewe in a really crap game, 3832 (217 Crewe)
