Thought this deserves its own thread - post here your delusional post match interviews:

Saturday's candidate Darren Sarll: "That penalty was scandalous", for what was a stonewall penalty.

Tuesday's candidate Harry Kewell: "They weren't that good, we had as much as they did" after being absolutely battered in every department, with a result that should've easily been double than what it was.

Honourable mentions for John Coleman and Russell Slade for their comedy value earlier in the season.

Now I'm not starting a Luton cheerleading thread, but has any manager shown some humility after playing us this season? And it wasn't a case that "Luton were lucky" or "Luton have a huge budget and squad".

My favourite last season from Luke Williams, after 3 home draws, was that the 3 points were the same as a win.

No wonder we went down.

Michael Brown after losing to Luton said it was ok as we would end our six game losing run when we beat Forest Green the next game... we drew (he’d half done their team talk) and he was promptly sacked! He made many a bizarre statement but I’ve been so traumatised by his reign I’ve blocked them out!

Managers have generally been alright with us this season, Kewell was a bit bitter when we beat Crawley first game If I recall. When we’ve won most have been complimentary.

Artell was a bit of a penis calling Vale fans uneducated and making a comment about Vale going down Crewe going up in jest... which has kind of backfired!

Jones isn’t averse to a silly comment to be fair, he likes a good moan about a pitch!

But he does actually give some credit when we get beat, especially if a side has properly done a good job tactically on us.

After the Wycombe game he wasn’t really drawn on the whole time wasting thing and he normally says something like a draw was fair when wenstruggle to a draw.

He has calmed down a bit in his post game interviews of late I think used.

It’s difficult for managers though, tough to have perspective so close to something that you are so heavily invested in and let’s face it, it’s tough to say that someone else is just better than you, think we all struggle with that! Kewells comments last night were very typical of a manager who was struggling with that fact I think.

Keith Curle appears to have blamed Carlisle losing last night on our ball boys.

Sarll gave an interview after our 3-0 against them and said our first goal was as a result of a 'smash' down the pitch, which was actually a very well placed through ball from Rhead.

Artell gave it the old 'all they do is smash the ball down the pitch' line after we beat them.

Coleman, after either our league or Checkatrade game, started his interview with "I don't want to come across as a moaner..." and then proceeded to moan for a full four minutes without taking a breath.

Darren Sarll sounds like a bitter sour grape loser - seems to think the officials and everyone else is against Stevenage.

Well they were managed by Graham Westley twice..

Of course I do think these managers have to look for excuses because if they dare criticise the players said egos probably get all upset and probably complain to their agents/the chairman

Or they get accused of losing the dressing room...

Lincoln don’t do much more than that to be fair, but you can’t moan about it if you know what to expect.

A few managers have alluded to the fact we're shit and that they expect to beat us, which is clearly massively deluded.

Ah no, not disputing that, but you can't describe a goal as a smash down the pitch to fit your own opinion of a team (correct or not) when it's quite clearly not how the goal was scored.

EDIT - Suspect you were talking about Artell.

The most delusional thing I've heard was Jose Mourinho saying that a penalty shoot out loss "didn't count as a defeat" when they lost to Charlton in his first season at Chelsea to end his unbeaten record.

Well what does it count as then? Why are you out of the cup?

Steve Cotterill once said that we were famous in the game for going down with head injuries after we'd beaten his top of the table Bristol City side. Genuinely hilarious.

Cotterill must the most overrated manager going!
Has he actually won anything since leaving Cheltenham?
Awful manager who somehow keeps getting jobs at clubs way above his ability, so fair play to him in that respect.

Steve Davis set such a high standard with quotes such as;

"If you take the goals away there wasn't much between the teams." [We lost 5-0]

"We are 18 places better off than when I took over" [Justifying his job when we were rock bottom of League One.]

He is seen as a god amongst Delusional Managers.

Nobody really understands anything that comes out of Tisdale's mouth so he could be completely delusional or he could just as easily be completely honest and realistic.

The previously mentioned Michael Brown
We have 12 cup finals left
11 cup finals
10 cup finals
etc etc
oops we are relegated.
In his much vaunted 12 cup finals we failed to score in 9 of the 12 games.

Cottrell also kept Forest up when they were definitely on their way down and was very unlucky to get sacked, took us up smashing club records and looks like rescuing Birmingham City this season.
Not a bad record.

Well that was true at the beginning but since then we've lost Jones and McNulty and many other players to injuries.
Also, the quality of the squad doesn't really matter if the tactics are shite.

Of course! There was the infamous interview after Notts County at home after slipping into the bottom two in mid September... “we’re only eleven points of the play offs!” Was in Crete at the time on a terrace about to have a meal with the wife and kids as the sun was setting and was seething reading it! Ruined my evening even more than the shithouse 11 on the pitch!

I recall that on P&G actually, nuts! Didn’t he try and appease your fans after being relegated at Vale Park by saying you were higher than when he took over or something too!

What did we do to end up with cretins like Brown and Davis between us!

Sounds like a Russell Slade special that one.
Yeah he seems to save his special quotes for when we play Luton.
The 'apart from their 2 goals they didn't have a shot until the 85th minute' and then at Blundell Park 'Luton's goal was their only chance'.
Firstly they had 1 cleared off the line, secondly the one fired accross goal that just needed a touch and thirdly, Russell, they only had 10 fucking men you absolute tosser!

Jose Maurinho on Chelsea's transfer budget and a parting shot at Roman Abramovich, 2007:

"The style of how we play is very important. But it is omelettes and eggs. No eggs – no omelettes. It depends on the quality of the eggs. In the supermarket you have class one, two or class three eggs and some are more expensive than others and some give you better omelettes. So when the class one eggs are in Waitrose and you cannot go there, you have a problem."

Seagulls following trawlers springs to mind.
