The Race For 5th and 6th

I think we all agree that the top 4 will be the top 4 come May. Two weeks ago, I thought Sheff Utd were a certainty for 5th but back to back losses has seen the gap to everyone else below them get a lot smaller.

So in your opinion, who's going to get 5th and 6th?

I'm going Barnsley to go on a great run and take 5th, with Sheff Utd stumbling their way to 6th place.

No chance bud. Despite your recent poor form, you've still got more than enough quality in that side to keep you in the top 4. It would take a monumental effort to drop lower than 4th.

Seen them twice this season, they only managed a draw at deepdale due to the referee not giving us a goal when the ball was three yards over the line and when we battered them in the cup.

Anyone down to Notts Co. could be 6th, but I would have a few pennies on Rochdale (games in hand, far superior goal difference). This league is so mental , that if we beat Donny today, we could be within 1pt of the playoffs, lose and we could drop to 17th !!!

How you can say that about the team who have the best current form in the league, a game in hand and one of their promotion rivals today, with 12/13 games still left is beyond me..

Theyve hit a good run so what it wont last til the end of the season i hope it does for em but i think mk dons will come 2nd

You can't say that it won't, and that on MK Dons is just an opinion, you can't criticise others for having one as well.

Be very surprised if we didn't make the play-offs. We've had a poor run (2draws and 1defeat Posh...not consecutive losses, yet) but still have enough to finish in the top6. Not a massive fan of Clough, we should be doing a lot better, but he has enough to achieve that at least.

Anyone remember having a bet about us finishing in the top6? When TFF had that betting thread I had £5 with someone that wed finish in the play-offs. Cant remember who though, feel like they were a Swindon fan. Anyway if whoever they are still want it then same rules with 1FF/chosen charity being the ones who get the money!?

We've had to have our best run of results for about 3 years to get to this stage, that will inevitably end soon (probably today) so there's no way we'll finish top 6. Given how bad we've been this season I'd be satisfied finishing where we are now, around 10th. Sheff United will stay 5th and Peterborough will nick 6th.

Sheffield United will definitely get one of them I think, the battle for 6th could be interesting though with Loads in with a realistic chance. I think it will be between Doncaster and Peterborough though.

If we do only make the playoffs and get sheffield I'm confident we'll win.

Really think we're still in with a chance of 5/6th now that Lavery's fitness has improved and he seems a natural replacement for Doyle. That wasn't our main problem in our run of defeats in all honesty. We badly missed the man who makes us tick, and now that Robbo is back and fully fit I can see us giving it a right go.

After that bad run of 4 defeats on the spin, we've been back to our fluent best against Fleetwood and MK(Didn't go, but we played well listening to those who did).

Don't think the Blades are sure things atm for 5th, but could well fill a spot. I think the final 2 places will ultimately be between Us,United,Donny,Barnsley,Bradford(Can see them falling away due to their draw today, and fixture pile up) ,Peterborough(As dire as they were in the 3-2 at ours) and maybe Gills. 2 out of our next 3 are Posh and Gills, so they could very well be season defining.

With Walsall,Bradford,Barnsley,Oldham, and United still to come as well, all who are in with a shout of a top 6 place, that's 7/12 remaining against teams going for 5/6th.


If I had to take a punt, unfortunately I'd go.......

I take everything i said back were an absolute joke at the minute i just hope we can muster a decent run at the end of the season going into the playoffs and by the way id feel confident of beating pne in them however i may be proved completely wrong and you could go up automatically i think you may of peaked a tad too early
