Hoping for a home win if Derry brought a team of "good lads" and "top pros" in who were past it 3 years ago?

We aren’t quite at the stage of “must wins” but having now drew two on the trot and now on the 2nd home game in a row this is a close one to that cliche.

A point or defeat could mean we are not only 5 behind Luton but pulled back into the 3rd/4th/5th etc.

On the balance of things I think we should win, guessing 2-1 but we need better from the strikers than against Grimsby.

You could be playing The Dog and Duck with rush keepers and Derry would say "it's going to be tough there's no easy games" before picking the most mind numbingly boring negative team almost to prove his own point and repeat the same pre match interview post match.

You mean the team he got relegated vs the team he's about to get relegated?

Luckily for me I will be in Australia and will miss the next 4 games of utter incompetency at least, never been so happy to miss a United game.

3-0 County.

Easy home win. Nice of the football league to give us such a great excuse for a piss-up near Christmas. Where's good for away fans?

Think most away fans start near the canal places near the station but there is also Hooters and most of the City Centre

Take your pick, although away fans often go to the Southbank bar just over Trent Bridge, large, ale isn't too bad, and loads of screens.

Will Jabo still be out for this?

Yeah head right to the bottom junction (where you get to view the amazing broad marsh car park being pulled down) and then left towards the waterfront. Although it’s a little nipply for being outside!

If you carry on through broad marsh you’ll hit the city centre which is about 25 from the ground.

Otherwise if you go past ML towards the shitty ground there’s enough around there, oh an hooters but meh!

Derry in post for the seasonal 4 matches then a "be careful what you wish for" replacement presumably hovering in the wings for when he fails to entertain us, let alone pick up a couple of wins. Most U's fans will be either accepting of or hoping for a loss in this one. It goes against the grain to hope for anything other than a good result and performance. I'm expecting a defeat and more stuffing to be knocked out of us before Barnet show up on Boxing Day.

The team deserves and needs our support, even if the manager doesn't, but I'm struggling to find the motivation to travel for this one, having broken the habit in time to avoid the pain of Luton, Newport and Port Vale. I'll see how I'm feeling by Friday night.

Roll on County at home at the end of Jan - when we should have a new manager (new Chief Exec??), new striker and goal scoring midfielder all raring to go......................................and even if we don't, I'll be out of the country on my travels again.

Yeah, quite a lot went on there.

I haven’t seen a team like that since Derry’s Notts. His idea of what football is differs from anyone else on the planet. The fouling, the diving, the time wasting is just beyond anything normal.

And yet, Cambridge definitely have the individual players to be a good actual football team. Ikpeazu and Brown were class (albeit the latter should’ve been sent off before his goals). It was one of those games where they had three shots and they all flew in, but they were goals of real class.

The comeback only happened because they went full on Derryball. There was no attempt to do anything other than waste time and kick the ball out of play. It allowed us to stop worrying about their forwards, throw players up and keep them penned in their own box. It was 17 minutes that showed why he’ll never make it as a manager.

For us it’s a point out of nowhere from the ‘one of those games’ that every team has every now and again. Keep soldiering on until January, even extended the gap to fourth!

Hmm, don't know what to say after that one.

Positives - (1)scoring three ( :eye:) away goals (2)all the players had a great game bar one (3) Notts still haven't beaten us since Derry took over, (4) the game was a highly entertaining one, and the words 'entertainment' and 'The U's' are seldom used together in a sentence.

Negatives - (1) Obviously letting slip a 3 goal lead (2) Azeez, who otherwise had a good game, missing a glorious chance to make it 4 nil (3) Everybody knows that County score a lot of very late goals but Derry didn't bring on Mingoia who would have been a better choice than Osadebe.

Finally a word about the ref. I haven't seen such a homer for quite a long time before today. He might as well should've put on a Notts shirt, esp during the first 45 mins. Notts committed as many fouls as we did and yet they often went unpunished. They're also quite good at diving.

That last bit - we’ll obviously see things through different eyes (and Brisley should definitely have been sent off for flattering your number 2, as much as he deserved it), I thought the worst decision he made was not sending Brown off for kicking out at Dickinson when it was still 0-0.

Wow. Absolute scenes down the lane. Didn't think notts played badly up to 3-0 Cambridge have some quality in their squad. Derrys negative tactics came and bit him on his time wasting cheating fouling arse again. If Cambridge had continued to play football they would have won. This Notts team just don't know when they are beaten.

I need to watch Brisley's foul again before I make up my mind, and that's why I'm not a referee ;) It looked ugly but I'm not that sure it was a straight red if I'm being honest, although the reaction of our lot seemed to suggest it was. Same goes for Jevani Brown's incident, though I wouldn't be really that surprised if he really did kick out at one of your players. The lad's very promising but he's still very inexperienced, and Derry knows this.

I don't think you can call the ref a homer. Clearly the worst ref I've seen all season and I don't think he was good for either team.

Great game, very entertaining. Cambridge made the most of the few chances created. Definitely had us on the ropes and could have seen us off, but this team never gives up. Notts played better today than they did against Grimsby but I do worry we sit too see in midfield sometimes and that hopefully Noble will help us get going forwards better than Hewitt and Yates who are all hard work no creativity

Brisleys foul was more mistimed than malicious definite yellow have seen reds given. Same with the kicking out incident the lad definitely kicked out was right in front of where I sit but again would have been a very soft red card.

Brisley’s was completely pre-meditated imo, that number 2 had (understandably) pissed us off to the point that someone was gonna do that.

Very entertaining game. We were 3 down without playing badly, Cambridge just scored three whammers.
Brisley was very, very lucky to stay on the pitch, if that's not a red what is ? Late, feet off the ground, pre meditated, went straight through the man, absolute shocker of a tackle.
I've never known a Notts team with bigger hearts than this lot, not the most talented but they just don't roll over. It's glaringly obvious we need a striker, Stead and Ameobi have played around 35 games between them and scored around 5? from open play, not good enough and unless it's sorted it will cost is dearly by the seasons end.

If we are talking about reds, what about the elbow on Ameobi that only got a yellow? Brisley attempted to get the ball I think and would suspect that the Cambridge no.2 behaviour when he just jumped to the floor was why Brisley got a yellow, the ref probably thought he was overreacting again. Saying that, can their no.2 get a retrospective ban? He was attempting to con the ref afterall?

I'm not sure if the retrospective ban thing comes this low down. If it does, it's the most obvious one of all time. To be fair, even he looked embarrassed by it quite quickly.

No member of the keepers union so not sure how 'saveable' they were but it's painful how slow Forde moves for all 3 of our goals - he should be playing for Beeston Old Boys
