Has anyone managed to make it through the whole video?

I had to stop after the 'Brians' bit

It's had nearly 1,000 views on Youtube. I hope it doesn't go 'viral' and make these dickheads any serious money.

Did a little sick in my mouth watching that. Poundshop version of the Wrexham lads (who are bad enough themselves).

Beginning with this video from Crawley's owners

It's so sad and embarrassing that these new so called professional football club owners of Crawley have used such vulgar and racist jokes in their video.

So cringey!

We'll just go about our business on Saturday and do our talking on the pitch like any normal club would.

Safe to say this has not gone down well and has put a real downer on the start of what should be a really exciting season for us. Complete embarrassment and shit show. They’ve done so much good so far but this overshadows everything. Our club forum says it all.

After seeing some of the responses to it on social media, I decided if give it a watch and I have to say I’m bitterly disappointed in how boring it was. Nothing controversial or offensive. I was expecting something far more outrageous. Tinpot yes, but other than it’s just a nothing video.

It got posted a bit on our forums and Facebook. I hope we don't engage with it massively as that's what they want and it will only encourage them.

Is it actually someone involved with the club or just some random person following it all? The post seemed to suggest they've been asking people to send their "scouting reports" in.

Here's one

Strange behaviour really, even if it's from a fan rather than an internal report you don't want to publicly state what weaknesses you think you've spotted in the opposition.

This sort of thing will send chills down the spine of Orient fans. We’ve seen all this before… except our guy had actual Mafia money, not fake internet money.

It's also a very shit level of report, regardless of the content. If they're signing up that individual to regularly scout for them then that's great news for the rest of the league.

Given that they've used American spellings, I imagine it's some bedroom-dwelling nerd in the States who's done it. They've got themselves a YouTube scout.

Crawley's owners have deleted the video and apologised for their behaviour

The owners must have seen the video and given it the green light which is the concerning thing. Even disregarding the downright childishness of the video, the fact they have an irritating yank using the word 'soccer' surely is a red flag? I know people look down on the Wrexham owners, but at least they seem to know how to play to their audience.

And the fan scout thing (whilst I can kind of see why they are doing it) is also a ridiculous venture. It's like they are trying to make football manager come alive, in a really crap way. I wonder what is next from these 'visionaries'?

They also describe Tomas Holy's role as 'Whale'. I have no idea what this means, some kind of American term for a goalkeeping style? I don't know.

I suppose people are talking about it... which is what they want. If I were a Crawley fan I'd be concerned that their idea of success doesn't seem to be tied to the football club winning many fans or doing well on the pitch. They seem like the sorts who would lap up a season fighting relegation, as they could make lots of self-deprecating NFTs, probably already in talks with the players over cringey goal celebrations they can turn a dime (yes I said dime) from.

If HG is right though everything will look much rosier for them come 5pm tomorrow.

I don't really understand what benefit the crypto bros bring to Crawley. OK, short-term, they pump some cash in now and get a decent-ish squad. But that's all temporary and every bank-rolled club needs a plan B for when the cash runs out. And it might well run out given how volatile crypto and NFTs are.
I might be wrong, but the media attention around them isn't driving interest and crowds up at Crawley in the same way that Wrexham have had with their ownership. And stunts like this Twitter video wouldn't make me as a floating football fan think "yeah, I want to be part of that". It's all a bit cringeworthy. I also can't picture loads've folk with MS Paint monkeys as their Twitter profile pictures rocking up in Sussex for a match. Maybe they'll buy some shirts? But really how many will they buy? I'm all for fan involvement. But some stuff is going too far. Getting the general public (and I mean gen public, not fans, as it's twitter so open to anyone) to vote on signings. That's a naff idea anyway but also renders the position of manager or sporting director a bit pointless. In the same way managers get annoyed with meddling owners I'd guess they won't like being told who to sign by randomers on twitter. I might be misremembering but was it Stockport that let their fans vote on signing either George Donnelly or Jamie Vardy. That went well...
And getting some amateur who might've played Football Manager In for a scouting interview. Crikey.
I don't wish any ill on any club. But I worry that this'll all go belly up sooner rather than later.

The video was crap and embarrassing.

The scout idea with a cash prize to engage with the fans was/is quite a good idea. Giving the winner a job is going too far but I'm OK with the rest of it.

I did ask for some Carlisle fans input for me to enter. I would have split the £1200 prize but no one was interested. Hey ho.

Casey

Edit, if you think the teams in the efl haven't got professional scouting in place and this would be used by the club you have a screw loose. To my mind it was a chance to win 600 beer tokens each.
