Well it's here, I know you boys and girls will have been counting down the days on your Tory advent calendars, possibly hardly even slept last night. But it's here! At last!

Mother Theresa gets to tell us all what a bright and wonderful future we all have, and outline her plans for leaving, in Florence this afternoon.

Great. Sooner we dump the Euro bollocks the better. Fucking corrupt bastards the lot of 'em.

Sacrificed the youth of Spain, Greece etc to a nightmare future - all in the name of keeping the club together.

TM confirming we NEED a transitional agreement. We'll be negotiating from a position of weakness, who'd have thought it.

Transitional was always the way to go. It doesn't change our hand. It's just so infuriating it's taken so long to announce what should've been said the day we confirmed article 50. It just shows the fake projection from the Tories that they're best placed to deliver brexit.

Not sure anyone thought this would be quick and easy - maybe if so they were a bit naive?

Where next from here? Do they tell us to shove it and we come back with a bigger and better offer?

TM has said that Brexit will not run smoothly without a transitional agreement, and as she's mooting it in public, it seems that no transitional agreement will hurt us more than the EU.

I don't remember Boris, Gove etel saying we need a transitional agreement. In fact, if Brexit is such a good thing for this country, as they said, why do we need a transitional period when we're better out of the EU? Why would we spend billions of pounds for something that is meant to be holding us back?

That's what we were told during the lead up to the referendum fella. And again, if leaving the EU is such a great idea, why are we paying billions to stay in it after March 2019?

Because it's the sensible thing to do. We're intertwined whether we like it or not and it's going to take time to sort shizz out. It's also goodwill to the EU and should provide foundation for constructive negotiations in the future. Remember this is very much about long term gains.

Aside from anything else, I think we can all agree that this confirms that Jeremy Corbyn is in fact the prime minister.
Thanks.

Think most rational Brexit supporters have considered a transitional period the most sensible path for both the UK and the EU, I remember posting in support of this approach months ago. It's just a shame it's taken our government six months to reach the same position.

If it's the sensible thing to do perhaps we shouldn't leave in the first place?

The scary thing is that this government, so far, appear to have made a complete cock up of it. Even if I thought the idea of Brexit was a good idea, I'd have no faith in this government to actually deliver.

Isn't it a bit early to determine that since the terms of our exit haven't been agreed yet? Your comment is jumping the gun.

No progress has been made since article 50 was triggered, when time is of an essence. We’re 6 months into a 2 year period which has to allow for all member states to agree to the agreement, whether that be transitional or not.

Are you in on the talks then? You seem very confident that no progress has been made.

Edit: just like to add that the EU approach to these negotiations merely backs up the reasons for wanting to leave:

EU won't negotiate trade until UK confirms financial settlement, citizen rights and Irish border. Why not? Because they say so? They should just get on with it.

EU sets settlement at €100m with no breakdown as to how they reached that then appears to not want to compromise. The UK also wants its own law to settle citizens rights in the UK (seems fair enough since the EU courts will settle in the EU) yet no compromise there either. Then Macron et al have the cheek to say no progress can happen on trade until these points are settled. Well if they compromised occasionally and worked with us then we might get somewhere. It's like they want talks to fail.

The EU attitude to this is dreadful and it proves exactly why we have to get out of this thing.

What progress has been made?

Because they have the stronger hand we have to dance to their tune, that’s the way it is in negotiations.

And there it is, it’s all the EUs fault.
