We're taking our son to London on an overnight trip for his 8th birthday in a few weeks. I worked in London for nearly a decade so know it well, but know bugger all about it when it comes to what can be done for entertainment outside of obvious shit like the London Eye and the London Dungeons. Any suggestions that a kid that age would enjoy?

I was going to suggest the National theatre for decently priced shows, seems saltire beat me to it.

Peter Pan is starting on 16th Nov, if you're going after then and might be a bit more family friendly than the cancer one he posted!

Also, being on the southbank means you're a short walk from London Eye and Dungeons and a load of restaurants.

I'm there on the 10th. If the Pagnells are going out for pizza that night then drop me a PM.

The London Aquarium is shit.

Go to a football game. Dulwich Hamlet ;)

I think the big free museums are great. But a little busy.

Cheers for the suggestions all, I'll read up on them. And sorry Des, it's before the 10th. I know, you're gutted.

Jump on The Duck Boat (near the London Eye)

Drives around the roads, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace etc............then straight into the river for a short trip up the Thames.

As an 8 year old he'll love it!

And if you're lucky it won't burst into flames.
