So then its never too early to think about Christmas in my eyes so what are your top 3 favourite Christmas songs?

Here's mine:

3: This always reminds me of driving home from visiting family in Plymouth on Christmas Eve a few years ago with the kids all excited in the back and this song came on, love it.

2: Great song, funnily enough you don't seem to hear it very often now for some reason:

1: No question, just has to be this one:

So what's everyone else's then, I've probably forgotten a few that I might've put in but those 3 came straight into my head.

Merry Christmas Everyone, Ho Ho Ho! :D

I rather like this one, however it must be said his Christmas tree is a bit shit

Fairytale of New York is the best for me. Can't really think of another one I like, so in it's place I'll discuss one I dislike intensely if I may. I't Wizzard's I wish it could be Christmas every day. Aside from the fact it sounds like an abomination, he'd get well and truly fucking sick of Christmas if it was every day. That is all.

You're hurting my feelings, but when an opportunity presents itself.

Why did you capitalise the word think? In fact your last post was a litany of grammatical ineptitude, a 6 year old would have done better. We're trashing this thread, which is dogshit anyway to be fair.

I'll take back what I said in the pm, except the bit about dismembering your cat. I'm still going to do that.

Love this by Tori Amos from her Midwinter Graces album.

Couldn't leave this one out. I so loved it being played by the school band in Love Actually.

Of course, this has to be the best......

There's a story about this video which just about sums up Britain in the 1970's.

It seems that when the BBC contacted Roy Wood to ask him to come to the Top of the Pops studio to perform the song he immediately contacted the parents of all the kids who sung on the recording of the song. Of course, they all wanted to see their children on TOTP so Roy got them all on a minibus, loaded it up with crisps and lemonade and they headed for London from Brum.

When they arrived at the studio, the kids were well excited that they were going to perform on the TV, and I should imagine that a lot of mum's fingers were hovering over the video Record button during the programme.

All looked good until a union official asked to see the kids Equity cards. Of course, they didn't have any so there was no way they were going to be allowed to go on.

A quick phone call had to be made to a local drama school, who had become used to filling in at short notice and the children you see in the video were whistled up and took the places of the children who sung on the record, and had to watch from the side of the studio.

That has to be the worst case of Bah Humbug I've ever heard in my life. How can anybody do that to children at Christmas..? I can't begin to imagine how Roy Wood explained it to the parents the next day.

But it's still a great Christmas song.

So your idea of hell would be playing the part of 'Joe' in Charlie Brooker's (excellent) Christmas edition of Black Mirror, eh?

If you haven't, I recommend it. But make sure you wear ear duffs at the conclusion <chuckle>

An excellent anecdote that at once conjures the memory of a classic Christmas tune from a bygone era.

Etty Abrics. You seldom come on here anymore, but every time you do you always aim unprovoked ill will towards me and it is for that reason I am putting you on ignore.
