I reckon Adams will be on a decent wage, is he signed on for the whole of next season as well? I can't seem to find much info about the contract length, but if that is the case then they'll be very reluctant to sack him.

Although I read it after 12, I'll admit you got me for a second. Fair play. :brill:

Since it's now after 12, and I got a Tranmere fan I've edited the title. Far be it from me to break the ancient rules of the order of April the 1st.

Contract runs to the end of the season, then up for review.
Almost wish this were true, though the timing would have made it difficult for any replacement.

So he's gone at the end of the season either way then presumably, wouldn't cost too much to get rid then. It'd certainly shake things up a bit if both you and Cheltenham had gone for a new manager, but Cheltenham's is slightly different as Milton is still there to advise Johnson on who's good/bad. If you got rid now by the time the replacement had properly evaluated the squad the season would already be over. I'd still probably like to see Adams sacked if I were a fan though, can't see him picking up many wins between now and the end of the season, let alone the required 4 or so out of 7.

The Adams thing is a tricky one.

He obviously has inherited a poor squad and has failed to improve it much apart from a decent couple of months around Christmas.

In most cases he'd probably have been sacked, but he has a great record of getting teams promoted so if Tranmere do join us in the conference, Adams would probably be the man to build a squad capable of bouncing back.

If Tranmere do sack him, I wouldn't mind us appointing him for next season's task. Like I say, he's got a good record of getting teams promoted.

Adams inherited a squad which was unbalanced, partly as a result of the financial straight-jacket Rob Edwards had been placed in by the previous regime. He started slowly, but things seemed to be going ok until the transfer window opened, when instead of fine-tuning, he went for wholesale changes with disasterous, if not yet fatal, consequences.

I think that Mark Palios took the gamble a few weeks back to stick, come what may. Part of the reasoning may be what you say; Adams ability to build squads capable of promotion. If by a miracle we do stay up, I'd expect an offer of a further contract and more funds to shape the squad as he sees fit. However my impression from his interviews is that Adams doesn't seem entirely comfortable and he may move on regardless.

In the event of Rovers dropping into the Conference, there is a very strong argument that a manger with experience of getting a team back into the league should be appointed.

Only just seen this - wasn't on here yesterday. Nice try! Wouldn't have got me anyway, as I only woke up at 12.
