Away at Stanley we always lose even when we have a striker or 2

Sunderland at home tomorrow. Hoping to be back from Greece in time for this as I land at 4pm.
We have beaten them 3 times and drew 2 and lost 2, the two defeats at home so this will be tough and they are in good form.
we are also in good form, but missing 2 key strikers so I’d be delighted with a point and I think we may get it.
1-1 for me.

Oh ffs not another game so soon.

We were dreadful against an average Morecambe team on Saturday and lost comfortably, so God knows how much we’re going to lose by against a half decent Pompey.

We could only name 6 out of 7 subs on the bench over the weekend. 2 GK’s and 2 youth teamers included in that. Mid August and our recruitment has been a shambles. We’re so far behind everybody else but Cotterill says we’ll be sorted by the time the window shuts. I’ve got faith in that but in the meantime I think we’ll be lucky to get a draw let alone win against anybody right now. It’s the perfect time to play us!

If we press and hunt you lot down like we did v Crewe it could be a long match for you guys, however.. Pompey are notorious for giving people a leg up when things are going bad.

Fleetwood have lost their first 2 but they’ve played 2 decent teams and will be keen to not lose 3 on the bounce.

If we play like we did second half on Saturday we should be winning this though.

This type of game is what winning League 2 was all about. Sod any predictions, because I honestly don't know how we'll do, but I can't wait for the game.

Oxford away. We lost 6-0 last time we faced Oxford and are coming of the back of a very lacklustre display at Portsmouth, where we didn't even lay a glove on Pompey. We really could do with a new player or two before this one, especially wide attacking players as at present we only have Owen Dale who had to come off in the first half vs Portsmouth due to illness.

Expecting nothing but a comfortable Oxford win.

Bolton at home. It will be a humbling experience to pit ourselves against such prestigious opposition.

Seems like all came through on Saturday with no-one else due back.

Possibly see Montsma come in for Melbourne, Bishop for Sorensen and Hakeeb for Bramall.

Home to Cambridge. Not totally confident. On Saturday we were fairly dull and ponderous first half, and only came into it when a knackered Gills started to play for time In the second 45.
Our most impactful striker, Ennis, is out for up to twelve weeks, the main means of getting the ball up the field, Major, is injured and our most creative crosser, Cooper, is still long term injured. So reasonable defensively, toothless creatively.

We only have two main strikers new, suspect Lowe is going to try and bring someone in.

I think the game against Bolton will be the opposite to Fleetwood who sat back and were more cautious. Two 3-3's to open the season would suggest Bolton aren't that kinda side.

Think we’ll win 1-0 for the second time in 4 days. I’ll go with Hardie to score.

They're is a gypsy funeral in Lincoln City centre tomorrow, could be interesting with a 1000 Bolton fans coming to the game. Lots of pubs aren't opening during the day until the funeral lot are gone.

You don't have anything to worry about. You'll beat us. And comfortably too, in that you'll probably be two goals to the good by HT.

It's still early days of course but I'm not liking the way Mark Bonner is approaching games because it seems to me his game plan is to keep it tight for 60-70 mins and then see where we're at. It worked at home to Oxford as they could only score the one goal (though they could've had a couple more before we scored) but it was a tall order at Accy when we were two goals down.

Yeah - I'd like to see us starting games more adventurously. I don't think we're good enough defensively to count on keeping it tight for long periods.

We've managed to create chances in both games so far though and I do believe we'll find our feet, just doesn't seem like we've settled on the right system/personnel yet.

Gillingham had a similar strategy and we only just squeaked through. Our defence is much stronger but the creative sparks are all on the side lines, so scoring may be problematic.

Ben Knight is gonna have to be a seriously good player for us to get anything out of this one. I can't remember us being so uncompetitive under Artell as we were against Portsmouth. And we weren't much better against Cheltenham.

More signings to come (and maybe a contract extension), and hopefully they will be as good as Knight is on paper. Very happy with today's signing.

Did you not beat us 5-1 at your place on the way down......Certainly wont beat us like that tonight
You have stagnated and have not kicked on.
We will steady the ship this season before rising up to the championship next season.
Leaving behind tinpot teams who dine out on once beating a club on its uppers

Rotterdam United at home. Clumsy first half last saturday but played some real good high press footy thereafter. Hoping for more of the same but we are getting a growing injury list. Ayunga now out for 5 or 6 weeks. Would love another (unexpected) positive result but I have a feeling we may struggle with energy tonight. Toumani Diagouraga has been outstanding in mid-field but at 34 is going to find it hard to play Saturdays and Tuesdays at that pace.
Having said all that, Stephen Robinson has really impressed us so far and he seems a canny manager who is able to change things for the better mid match. Expecting a loss, would love a win but I reckon 1-1.

You are allowed to big up your team without scorning others, don't you know?

Keep conceding 3 goals a game and you’ll be going the opposite way to the Championship. Santos and Baptiste are not L1 defenders.

Hoping we open our account this evening.

Happy to be patient & expect ups and downs for the first 10-15 games or so but that first win is important.

Plymouth away is never easy, a few injuries still but I’m hoping Jones can be fit so digby can get back to cm, fingers crossed we can pinch a result.

Has Lloyd Jones played for you yet? If so, how has he done. He obviously started with us, came back on loan for the last half of 2019/20 and did a job. Think he was on trial early 20/21 but we did not sign him. Some fans made a case for him this year too. I always liked him. Skill wise he has limitations, but he is a good size and always put himself about.

He started the first game of the season against Oxford and done well, I liked what I saw, confident, assertive, won everything and seemed to be a talker. He unfortunately got injured in the mouse cup but doesn’t sound like it’s to serious, we’re desperate for numbers so need him really.
Early days but he was clearly someone bonner wanted in early as I think he was our first signing.

I don’t imagine we will beat you 5-1 tonight, I think it will be a much closer game, we are nowhere near firing on all cylinders yet and still have 3-4 new players to come in with others to get up to fitness (like most clubs).

As for stagnated, either you are after a nibble, or are completely stupid.

We had numerous (6?) seasons in the Conference not even finishing above half way. Then when the Cowleys took over we got promoted into Lge Two the first time of asking. We then got into the play offs the next season followed by then getting promoted into Lge One the next. In League One we consolidated by finishing 16th, before finishing 5th last time around. So add on two Wembley appearances and a Quarter final of the FA cup, and us being the first non league side in about 100 years to get to that stage, I think it’s fair to say the last 6 years it’s been anything but stagnated.

We have started the season well (uncharacteristic of us under KR!). I'm hoping for a home win but given the set of circumstances you allude to... It'd be typical of us to falter now, wouldn't it!?

you are correct on Baptiste only because age has caught him up.....but he wont be playing much this season
Our central defensive pairing of Santos and Johnston are among the best pair in this league.
How you can say Santos is not good enough is beyond me
Lge 2 pfa team of the year last season and both players and fans player of the year.....They are both coming back from a bout of covid and will grow stronger as the season progresses
They have played one lge game each and there only appearance together was to keep a clean sheet against a strong Barnsley team

That's maybe, but think how much more satisfying and gratifying it would be to rise above the little digs rather than slink below them? (And this was only a bit of tongue in cheek sarcasm - not scorn)
If you cut the scorn more folk would read the sensible stuff you write.

I'll bill you for the therapeutic communication advice at the end of each month. The fee will reflect your progress - do better, pay less
