You didn't have to battle very hard. That was comfortably our worst performance since early season. Ridiculous line up from us that played into your hands.

Who’d a thought it? First consecutive wins, 2 clean sheets and a semblance of a workable team. Probably a pure fluke by Sheridactyl but I’ll take that. Still tighter than a nun’s chuff at the bottom, though.

Last night was probably the first time in a while where lady luck appeared to be shining on us. After a fairly even first half, Rovers had clearly got a rocket at half time, whereas we looked like we had been sleeping and dominated proceedings scoring what looked like a perfectly good goal in the process. A shot from the edge of the box flew into the corner but the lino flagged and I can only assume that he thought (or guessed as Barton put it) that the Rovers striker deflected it in from an offside position. It was tough to tell on Ifollow but I thought it was a poor decision. Nothing changed after the goal and Rovers continued to dominate but we got a free kick from the edge of the box which fell to Jack Payne who finished well past a static defence. That goal clearly rocked Rovers and we started to play so half decent stuff. The second bit of luck came towards the end when Iandolo's poor header fell perfectly to Ayunga (I think) but his finish was poor and was easily saved. That was a golden chance. One final chance was denied in the last minute as a goal saving tackle by Odimayo was needed as Rovers looked certain to score.

Neither side was great last night and a draw would probably not have been an unfair result but that's massive for us to get 6 points on the board. We have no game now until Easter Friday so chance to rest and get players fit for the run in. Have to hold hands up to Sheridan for being brave and making the change to the system he has. Somehow it looks to be working so far so he has to take credit for that.

I watched the interview with Barton after the game and to me it does appear that he's written off this season and looking more towards a longer term goal (he mentioned about recruitment in the summer etc) which is all well and good, but surely a longer term goal is easier if you can keep the club in the league. I do understand what he was saying, challenging his players if they want to be at the club or not etc but I just wonder whether what he was saying is going to work as a rallying cry for them to try and stay up. 5 defeats in a row suggests perhaps not. As always, time will tell, but managers these days often aren't allowed that amount of time.

Barton's way of working r.e. his comments about Ehmer might get a reaction at a Club who're middling in midtable but if you're in a relegation battle with players are naturally low on confidence and you need to keep everyone onside, it's not a great idea to create friction, regardless of your own thoughts. They can be saved until everything settles down, surely?!

It's probably part truth, part trying to get a reaction but there's got to be another way of doing it.

Also Ehmee was voted captain by the players.
He appears to be doing his best to alienate the entire dressing room.
By being so public he is just re-iterating what a classless flange flannel he is.

After last night’s game he’s practically thrown everyone under the bus - players, previous staff, officials. He’s banging on about some sort of ‘reset’. Sounds like he’s accepted relegation already - which is crazy coz they’re nowhere near a certainty.

Isn’t he due in court this summer ?

Could be found guilty and sacked I guess.

Some might say last Saturday's win was a one off -clearly thats not the case 2 back to back away wins no goals conceded, b...hell any more of this and you'll pushing for play offs

Joking aside, delighted for the manager. The Sheradactyl is dead, a new one is born

Looks like the 'Barton Bounce' is rather deflated but wish him well in his endeavours

Barton is absolutely bang on in everything he is saying though. Honestly, f*ck this squad. They're pathetic and weak. Garner and Tisdale tried the buddy arm on the shoulder tactic and we were even worse than we are now, and thats saying something.

I decided not to watch last night, just knew we'd lose 1-0 with another dodgy refereeing decision. I have to say its getting a bit silly now. Anyway, we're 100% down - no manager can save us. Barton has shown in glimpses what he can play and I've been impressed, I'm confident he'll do well with us long term.

Its been delayed and put back 2/3 times. Heaven knows where the Ex Barnsley manager who Barton assaulted is now. I do wonder if this was at the back of Andy Pilley's mind when he dispensed with Barton's services

Ehmer is always welcome back home, he was our captain too, the performances with the young lad Tucker were outstanding at times.

To vilify a single player in public is at most unusual (and at worst scapegoating).

Maybe it’s a case of a player not working out at a certain club, I don’t know, but he doesn’t deserve those comments. It’s not like he would set out to be deliberately below standard.

I have no doubt in my mind that there is a great player there, and no offence, that’s why I was surprised he signed for Rovers in the first place.

You can keep Hanlon though.

You have to bear in mind, Gassy, that the other 5 clubs at the bottom are just as bad. Honestly, we have been consistently atrocious over a period of time and even 2 wins in a row still doesn’t fill me with confidence that we’ll beat the drop. As for Barton, I think he’ll be a disaster for your club - divisive and confrontational doesn’t usually sit well with owners or players come to that.

Even if they are everything he's saying. slagging them in public isn't going to help too much in your situation, he just needs to keep his counsel for another 10 games surely?!

I'd not be happy if our manager came in all guns blazing and has spent the the duration of his time having a pop at players in public and, more recently, the Club as a whole.

Not sure about that! Will be interesting to see who will be available. Losing Jackson to covid is a big glow. Not listened to MA so unsure if any of the injured i.e. Walsh is back? Or will it be Eyoma?

We couldn't beat a poor Northampton team and we had absolutely no imagination to break down Blackpool who deservedly won. We don't look like scoring at all.

Ehmer has to be one of the worst players I have ever seen, and I've seen some god awful ones. Ever since he came in he can't run, can't turn, can't head, can't kick. The bloke hasn't given a sh*t since the day he arrived. I've not once seen him stretch for a tackle or ever attempted to rally himself or the team. Hanlan is completely out of form atm and looking dreadful, a complete waste of space - but at least he's trying tbf.

On current form, I'm not sure there are 5 worse teams than us tbh. Some of our recent home games have been Rovers 1-2 Wigan, Rovers 0-0 Wombles, Rovers 0-1 Swindon. We cant score or beat the teams below us and I don't understand where/how we can stay up

I actually think its refreshing tbh. Something is seriously wrong at the club and clearly the brushing under the carpet and behind closed doors approach has not worked. I do get where you're coming from but IMO we have nothing else to lose, better to call out those responsible

Responsibility, ultimately, lies with the owner. Not sure it’s the wisest thing for Barton to point that out.

Tbf I'm not sure he's pointing the finger at the owner, but rather the CEO/Head of Recruitment.

Wael's (the owner) mostly bad decisions has been to appoint them, but otherwise he genuinely cares and will do anything for the club. The other two though...

But you're right, it's probably not wise. I guess the summer will show us who Wael trusts more.
