All really bad gates in my opinion, can,t use Champions League as an excuse as no longer on ITV. Was a mild evening and on the back of a good win at Fleetwood our gate was simply awful. Just wondered anyone has any thoughts ? At Vale i think it is a general apathy and seems like we are stagnating, can maybe see why one or two are low but Rochdale in particular are flying at their highest ever league placing and still just breaking 2000. We basically had 3700 home fans last night which is dreadful.

Only 5,231 at our game last night (37 Fleetwood fans).
Very disappointing considering the ticket prices were £15 for adults and £5 for under 18s. Especially considering how well we are doing.
Expected to see a good thousand or more to be honest.

I despise Rochdale but still think it's a shame their attendances are rubbish no matter how well they do and who they play. Especially compared to tiny Fleetwood now. What's going on there in particular, mass disillusionment?

There's a general apathy towards Football in general at the moment. Tuesday nights aren't suitable for some kids, or blokes finishing work in a big city/office etc. Tuesday gates will always be worse than Saturday by some distance. Less away fans, less easy, people are busy or can't be bothered after a day at work. Not forgetting the prices are £10 higher on average than they were a decade ago.

Doesn't hide the fact there are some poor gates there, but it will always be the same on Tuesdays.

Low gates on a mid-week is nothing new

Just how it is, work and such gets in the way.

Blackpool's would have raised an eyebrow if they reported attendees rather than tickets sold.

I'd guess that there were at least 3000 fewer than published.

Other issues there though of course.

I understand what you saying but from our point of view they have dropped drastically, only about 4 years a go we could pull 8500 on a Tuesday for a game with Shrewsbury, just seems in general gates are down and more and more lower league fans are not coming back once they get out of the habit of going.

As a Vale fan you've witnessed first hand how bad we are so it should be of no surprise at our lowly gate especially with the distance to travel for the away fans and sandwiched between two local derby's. Amazingly we still had a bigger crowd than Vale.

Going to a game used to be second nature to me - home or away. I hardly bother with away games now (too expensive + cant really be arsed).

Still haven't missed a home game this season - that may change in the near future.

I'm a bad fan.

Our attendances are shocking because the town simply doesn't care enough & of course the hot bed of football that is the north west really doesn't help us. Unfortunately I can't ever see us growing much more even if we made the Championship (probably won't happen).

Football attendances appear down across the board , in most cases anyways apart from the premier league

Tuesday attendences are usually gash for a lot of teams. Family commitments and getting in from work Means something has to give and it is usually this game.
Nothing different this year. We used to dip under 2000 a couple of years back for a cold Tuesday with a wank away following

Same here considering we've started well. Don't know if it's just a cost thing nowadays or the Prem taking over younger kids' interest.

600 down from what we'd usually get against a Southern club on a Tuesday thanks to good old Steve Davis driving the fans away. Knobhead.

I'm interested to know why too.
Rochdale are probably the LEAST despised team in the division, and I'm saying that about one of my own club's local rivals!
I'd like to bet there are loads of people have a soft spot for 'dale.
Did you once get a dodgy pint somewhere in Rochdale P.H.?

I would go as far to say that 'Dale are amongst the least hated teams in the country let alone this division

Ou attendances have been pretty decent this season. Don't think we've had a home game drop below 11k which is great considering we were getting 7k at points last season.

Ours are well down - guess that's what happens when you sell all your best players and appoint a wank manager

or that it's actually cheaper to goto Premier League games. I've been to Villa for just £5 courtesy of O2. £10 offers from them I've taken up have taken me to West Brom, Arsenal, Southampton and Norwich.

Villa are cheap in general, no wonder the whole of Walsall is infested.

Yeh,having such a big outfit a simple train hop or easy 10 min drive down the M6 must be a real pull on your local catchment area.
And ofcourse you have Wolves in another direction.
And Albion.
I don't suppose Blues have too big a pull on Walsall and district though,so that's a small consolation I guess.

Blues are just Birmingham it seems, small heath, Handsworth and stuff. Don't even know a blues fan around Walsall.

Fuck them all, barely glory hunting anyway supporting one of the 'big' clubs round here is it. Least we have a laugh down the Walsall and not cry about constant let-downs.

Gates are down simply because football is too expensive, plus football fans are losing interest in the game when their are so many footballers and managers (i.e Mourinho) in the spotlight of the Premiership, earning obscene amounts of money and behaving like fcukwits...And then you only have to look at the corruptness in FIFA!!!!!!!

It's no wonder the public are turning their backs on football!
