Tom Youngs is a Bury lad (Bury St Edmunds that is) who came through the youth ranks to make 151 appearances for the U's before eventually winding down his Football League career at Gigg Lane. A smart guy, with a degree in sports journalism, Tom was diagnosed with MS in 2015 and published his autobiography, "What dreams are (not quite) made of," in 2016.

Since it's not the FA Cup, we have a terrible record against Bury in recent years. I see no particular reason for that to change. The last 2 (first team) matches have knocked the stuffing out of us and it feels like we are back where we were 5 weeks ago - but with 8 or 10 points more than anticipated (thank god for the general shitness of L2) and a fit Amoo and Jabo to take us into December hoping to stay clear of the relegation zone, principally through others' failures, until January.

I don't want to dwell on who might or might not put in a shift on Saturday. Whoever is given the shirt, it will probably be a match where reputations improve from not being involved. On current form, 0-3 to Bury is entirely possible and there'll be unrest on the terraces, with boos from the Main Stand, if it goes as badly as I fear.

Salute to Tom Youngs though, that goal at Meadow Lane on the final day of the 2005/2006 season will live long in the memory.

I enjoyed that book, a good read I think. I've just finished Left Foot Forward by Garry Nelson - a book that I thought I had already read but it became apparent after the first couple of chapters that I didn't. I'm currently halfway through Claridge's one (read it before but it's a good one to revisit). Next on the list is We Are The Damned United, which supposedly tells what really happened during those 40 something days that SIR BRIAN CLOUGH spent at Leeds, unlike The Damned Utd which was mostly fiction.

I'm not really thinking of the Bury game, nor am I looking forward to it but then again I know I will be come Sat a.m. We're just like 18 other sides in this league - look good one week and terrible the next. Also pretty similar to 12* other sides (*I'm going on the posts on here) in that we need a new striker sharpish. The only thing the other 'we need a goalscorer asap' sides have over us is that their CB's crop up with a goal sometimes while ours haven't yet. Or at least I don't think they have. My short term memory's shit so I could be wrong.

Sorry for the longish post. I'm going for a 1-1 draw. Forde with a bullet header deep into stoppage time.

Was it the year that Torquay and Boston went down? I do remember that Boston were in big trouble at the time and were deducted ten points I think. I can't recall though if the points were deducted at the end of the season or just before.

I'm referring to the one on the left, though one would've have to look closely to distinguish the two

I have read the David Peace one and yeah it's great but it's also (mostly) a work of fiction. The one I'm just about to delve into is supposedly the truth as it is based on several interviews with players and journalists who were there at the time. Online reviews of the book aren't that great but I don't tend to read too much into any sort of review when it comes to books, music and films if I'm being honest.

A fully deserved point against a side that I reckon will make the play offs, with a top 3 finish also a possibility I guess. Best side, along with MK, that I've seen this season.

But then again, it's a given that sides look much better when they're playing with 12 men. Most of the ref's decisions today were baffling, and all the big decisions went Bury's way. What the fcuk was that Paul Lewis sending off for? If, as I suspect, the ref thought it was dangerous play then he should've shown him the red card and not a second yellow, though I got a text from a mate sitting in the Main Stand and he was adamant that it wasn't even a foul.

And what about the two penalty appeals we had? Same mate reckons the first one certainly was, an opinion shared by all of those that had a good clear view of the incident. The second one is a bit harder to call as it looked to me that Amoo went down a little too easily.

Bury are a very good team but their cheating all game was a disgrace. Diving at every opportunity but what karma when their left back goes to ground to win a free kick but instead the ref gives a corner.

I’m just to the left at the front in this vid, perfect viewing for the goal, must win game this one at the time too.

As for today’s game, thought we deserved the point in the end, bury were decent but had a slight arrogance about them, they’ll finish top 7 no worries, Danny mayor was very good, O’Connell/aimson was very bad, stokes = prat.

So pleased our team didn’t give up even with 10 men, we’ll need that battling quality a lot more this season as we’re pretty dire.

Uplifting afternoon/evening at the Abbey. The nights are drawing in and the atmosphere, with one of the lowest crowd of the season, was the best - under the lights, with something to feel pissed off about..

First 30 mins went as feared. Apparently we didn't believe the Danny Mayor hype and at no stage doubled up on him. 0 - 2 down and then we discovered what was the cunning plan for when we were under the cosh - mentioned by Joe and worked on all week, led by the senior pros like Deegs, Jabo and Greggy.

We discovered a nasty streak. Little Leon (who's not so little these days) had been turned inside out by the Mayor Magic. Many around me thought he should come off. I disagreed. I'd like to think it was deliberate but it's not in him. Nevertheless he got a booking for trying to ensure that Bury will never breed from Mighty Mayor. We got closer, tackles went in, and at the start of the second half, Jabo made sure he stood on Danny Mayor's foot and passed him a message. Bury had already backed off, presumably on the basis of the first 30 minutes and seeing videos of our last 2 surrenders. They huffed and puffed but rarely actually required a save from the Forde less than Popular

The local headlines will be about a heroic fightback with 10 men after an unfair sending off and 2 penalties not awarded. For me it was the first real signs this season of a bit of steel against a side that could clearly out-football us. After watching the travesty that was Guiseley and similar poncing around (especially on the road) this season, we were laughing on the Habbin to see Reggie Lambe fired up, Little Leon delivering the crosses and growing into a game..... and I finally saw Greggy Taylor score (having missed the previous 2) on his 200th appearance. (Edit: Apparently that's 4 goals in 238 appearances)

It's a funny old game. Bury should have more than enough for the play-offs if not better. I'm motivated for a trip up to Crewe on Tuesday.............but it's the wife's birthday.

I think most of the comments are triggered by Stokes rolling around and play acting, rather than the dodgy decision alone.

For what it's worth, I think your "cheating" and falling over probably was triggered by the "air" and the fact that we'd decided to rough you up as we couldn't out play you. A few challenges went over the line, although probably not the Lewis one - which was more full blooded than nasty. The ref got it about right overall but he can't see everything.

I suspect that without the sending off and reaction to it we probably wouldn't have got the point. In fact you might well have stirred yourself to get another (you went even more into your shell against 10) and/or someone else would have got a red.

All fell apart last night anyway.
