I rarely wander north of the L2 Forum on 1FF but, curious about reaction to the FA Cup Final, I unwisely ventured into the Premiership Forum. Wow, I thought CUFC Messageboard had some divvies. I now better understand the origins of some of the end of season awards - many of which seem wholly inappropriate to the civilised company here. I had to leave quickly and take a shower so....

.....To assist the unwary, can our more experienced L2ers offer guidance on the content and occupants of other forums?
  1. The Premiership
  2. The Championship
  3. League One
  4. League Two
  5. Non-League Football

I don't really go up there, and the PL fans I know of on this forum are mainly the ones who venture down to this level from time to time such as HarvSFC who are sound. The PL and Championship forums are fairly quiet on this 'new site' compared to the lower leagues as I guess this site (and the previous ones) made names for themselves as places where the entire pyramid could be discussed.

Also I suspect that most PL fans prefer the echo chambers of their own clubs forums. I did have a little glance at the PL forum just know and it seems fairly heavy on the melodrama. The fact that one of the top threads is titled 'Arsenal club in crisis' probably tells you all you need to know.

Don't generally tend to go outside of L2 to other league forums on here, but General Chat and TV etc are both very good to discuss wider things here if you haven't checked them out.

I go to the PL from time to time, and anyone else who does would recommend the PL Game when the season restarts again, run by Munkiki which is very good. Think the general gripe with the PL forum is that unlike the lower leagues on here, a lot of supporters for whatever reason don't go to games which obviously creates its own problems with things like matchday threads. L1 looks a laugh when I browse in there, and the Conference ons is decent as well, especially the Tinpot thread :D

Is that the cover artwork of Slayer's Reign in Blood?

Re. Alan's question, I never venture above this league, but a big fan of the non league forum, as it has a lot of decent posters, and also enjoy reading some forums in the general section.

Which reminds me that I'll feel like a fish out of water when we PTTPL next year * Hopefully Luton, Carlisle and Mansfield come up with us, so the transition will be easier.

*only kidding

As Trapdoor says, all Bosch.

I considered using "Don't Move: Episode 9" but the trailer "Episode 9 is going to be a short about a mutant ninja Dinosaur waking up in post-apocalyptic Manchester and having to fight overcloned demonic football fans, who have been holding a thousand year war over something they call “fool-balls” was a wind up.

Looked similiar to Slayer's artwork but it's not. However, I think that painting adorned some album sleeve, most likely by some 'satanic' (aka black metal) band. I'll try to google some info.

I like to read and get involved in all the sub forums as I take massive interest in all football, personally though I enjoy reading the bottom 4 league forums far more than the Premier League one as their seems to be a lot of armchair fans, who have probably never been to Manchester never mind Old Trafford.

Agreed. There's nothing more that I despise than armchair fans. For instance, I don't mind Asian or other fans from far-away countries who follow Liverpool or Utd, and watch games on their tv sets, but I can't stand those guys that instead of supporting their local club, prefer to watch one of the big sides on the box. The fact that they call themselves fans is adding insult to injury, imo.

Another reason i don't visit the premier league forum is their fans think that lower league teams fans have no right to comment on that league, we are proper fans not f*cking glory hunters who "support" a team over 200 miles away from where they were born.

I am more tolerant, possibly because I am now better able to avoid such irritations. Armchair fans and pub TV shirt wearers are an occasional pain in the neck but their custom keeps some worthwhile pubs open and gives us something to feel superior about when the football and/or results are dire.

Also, we need to wean a few of them onto live football down the Abbey if the Jezolution is to continue. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Of course, as Sheldon said, "You catch even more with shit," so I'm not sure where that leaves us.

I've been the occasional tourist Premiership "fan" since I retired - often double headers with U's matches. It means I've got to Goodison and a few Everton away games for the first time, despite "supporting" them at school, as well as places like Norwich and Burnley - even took in Morecambe v York a coupl of seasons back. I get more pissed off when someone in the pub asks if I'm a groundhopper. Otherwise my credibility with Premiership fans who actually go to matches is normally heightened significantly by support for a Conference (now L2) club.

The fans in Asia probably also have a local club that could do with their support as well.

I have no idea how you could claim to be a fan of a club in another country, it's bizarre. When people tell me they support Barcelona or AC Milan, I just laugh at them.

I don't bother with the leagues above, but the non-league section is excellent.

I also dip into the Music and TV forums occasionally.

That thread title isn't being serious tbf. But the board in general suffers from too many threads descending into tiresome and repetitive Man United vs. Liverpool bickering.

I enjoy reading the League 1 forum, some good posters on there and it's very active.

I visit the Championship forum from time to time, but that is much less active, although the 3 promoted sides from L1 will increase the level of activity I'm sure.

As others have said, the Tinpot thread in the Non League section is very enjoyable.

So to sum up, have I got it right?
  1. The Premiership - room at the top of the house to keep the kids or embarrassing relatives. Munkiki has a cool game.
  2. The Championship - quiet backroom where few go by accident.
  3. League One - occupants generally sound, rarely rowdy but often driven to online games or wrestling to escape their confinement to Middle England. UTS might liven it up, with RavenBish an acceptable trade.
  4. League Two - home of witty banter and manic obsession with avoiding relegation. Already missing The Terraceman and Shrimpurh but reserving judgement on the trade at the bottom.
  5. Non-League Football - chill room. The traditional whinge fest of moneybags/shit-or-bust/proper/tinpot will get a little more spice with a few Barra and our little pack of superwhites.
I'll see if I can come up with some avatars for that - or even some album covers.

That's pretty much it. :2thumb:

Wish the Championship board was a bit busier in all honesty, just read through the entire tinpot thread in the non league section. Absolutely brilliant it need archiving somewhere.
