Going top of the league yesterday.Take my hat off to the manager, players etc doing this with all the uncertainty surrounding the club recently.
Seconded. Happy for you to seal things by mid-March, when the bubble will burst. We didn't want Chris Whilder anyway.

Waiting for Wilder's customary post Christmas collapse with interest.

I hope it all works out for the club off the field as it seems like the supporters might have to pay for other people's actions? A successful season might help off the field too. We are currently looking like we will be challenging for similar positions (hopefully) but I hope they do stick it out (as well).

He hasn't had a "Post Christmas collapse" in either of the 2 years he's been with us, but Oxford have so maybe your still blaming the wrong person.

No post Christmas collapse from us last season. We finished the season with an eight game undefeated run. And the previous year (when he left us at the end of January) our form was mostly his doing, although his clueless assistant Micky Lewis, who took charge for the next ten games didn't help.

Brace yourselves for loads of journeymen loanees in January and February, he did it every single year with us. The higher you are in the table, the bigger the fall with Wilder once the Christmas decorations come down.

Chris Wilder has took us from bottom of the League to top of the League in 99 games, so I can see why you didn't want to lose him.

He probably saw more in our potential, leaving a club in 7th (I think it was?) for us at the bottom?
Says more about them than us?
Although he was probably hoping to be moving to a club with four usable sides to their ground...

I don't care if it's 102 years, I can't stand the bloke.

What am I supposed to do? Suddenly say, "oh, I was wrong and dear old Chris is a splendid chap" as the regulation two years of hatred is now up?

I suffered five years of his arrogant, self centred, bullshit, lies, deceit, disrespect, and mostly crap football, so don't expect me to change my stance any time soon!

You're meant to stop posting him about him every time his name gets into a conversation, it's so boring (unlike Wilder's football).

It's a democracy and this is a football forum, for expressing opinions. So mine is different to some of yours, does that mean I shouldn't express it?

I don't start threads about Wilder and I don't comment on most of the Northampton related stuff. But, this is a thread expressly started to praise Northampton in general, and Wilder in particular, so I've had my say. Sorry some of you don't like it, so I'll try and ease off a bit, although we play each other next month, so no doubt the subject will be raised again then, and I reserve the right to respond to any Wilder love in posts.

If you think I'm angry, count yourself lucky you're not from swindon. I reserve my real hatred for those six fingered, web footed, hunch backed, sister shagging mongrels. Wilder gets off lightly!!!

Eric didn't he get you a promotion? Can never understand supporters who hold animosity to an ex manager who gets you up. It's similar to Cobblers views of Ian Atkins, got you within 90 mins of 2 promotions yet would slate the guy at every chance. Strange lot.....

Just gets a bit tiring when every topic seems to descend into you bashing Wilder and us defending him, when you must be able to see he's not doing a bad job!

Wasn't around too much for Atkins but from people I know they respect Atkins for the success he brought us. Before Wilder was brought some people actually wanted him to replace Boothroyd!!

He got us promoted from the Conference, through the play offs, after fucking up automatic promotion by signing a load of shit loanees in January when we were top of the League. He then repeated this (January loanees and collapse) every season he was with us. But, to listen to him talk you'd think he was Pep Guardiola! It was never his fault according to Wilder. Truth is he outstayed his welcome with us by at least two years, maybe more.

Nothing strange about that.

Love it, well put, they must be related to the folk from Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island, town of 10,000 with 3 surnames

Definitely a bit of revisionism here as I was around for the OUFC Atkins experience and we got the same "told-you-so" attitude from Northampton that you'd get from us if we were right about Wilder in three years.

Yeah, swindon are a good family club. Only problem is they're all in the same family!

Genuinely I have never heard a positive word about Swindon from anyone who wasn't born there. Bizarre place.
