This is a potential meltdown thread.

Hopefully it won't come to that, was just interested to see if any of their fans knew anything. Im sure I heard that their finances were ok so long as they hit a certain number in attendance each week and that they were on target so it came as a slight surprise when I saw it

We've just turned down bids of over £3million for Luongo. I'm sure if we had this hanging over us we'd have accepted those offers.

Let's hope so anyway.

Forest have one of these every 2 weeks. Doesn't really mean anything in isolation, depends purely on how much they owe. We had one last year where HMRC fucked up, Rodders went all the way to prove we'd actually paid what they said we hadn't and it got thrown out after 10 minutes with them having to pay us for Rodders' expenses

Swindon are the lower league version of Cardiff, always living on the edge of financial morality.

Means very little on the face of it. As mentioned, I doubt we'd have rejected £3M+ offers for Luongo if we were that desperate for cash. A statement has already been released by the club suggesting that the matter has been resolved and that the petition is merely part of the process. I'm not worried, yet.

Just a bit of brinkmanship from Power we have had only 1 home game since Xmas so I would imagine he has waited until he got the red letter before paying like a large % of the population do.

PS, hilarious that a City fan started a thread on this. Obsessed.
Hilarious that you are unable to read well enough to comprehend what is written in the OP and 3rd post, or maybe having a general interest in football isn't allowed now.

It's a bloody non-story for Christ's sake. If you bothered to read the follow-up story on Link Sport, you'd know that. But no, first chance of getting one over 'little old Swindle' and you ejaculate with excitement all over the shop. It's pathetic.

If we had a thread for every time a club was issued with a winding up order, this place would be littered with them. There really is no point in discussing this any further.

Fucking hell get over yourself, I personally have no more interest about swindon than any other club in league one and would have posted this if it was say Rochdale, Gillingham or Doncaster. I know some other city fans like to wind you lot up but im just interested in football and was asking a question to find out more, that's all it was intended to be.

Probably best if a mod closes this before it does get out of control.

The story was big enough to flash up on Sky sports news...given Swindon's history I think it's fair to say there would be a degree of interest from any League 1 football fans and perhaps a little more from City fans....The OP headline of What's this alluded to that.....Get real mucker!

Given that the OP clearly visited Link Sport to read about the story, do you not think that he could have remained on the site to read the follow-up article which would have negated the need to start a pointless thread in an attempt to wind Town fans up (no pun intended)?

I can understand how you'd feel a little wounded by the post Mike but I feel there was an attempt to get a Swindon fan's perspective...we all know that these HMRC hearings are sometimes bollocks....

The follow-up article arrived seven minutes after the original and 35 minutes before you started this thread. I find it highly unlikely that you'd miss it, unless you are only seeing what you want to see.

Hopefully when Tom rises from his slumber, he locks/removes this thread.

That's all it was intended to be, just wanted to hear more about it, didn't particularly care who the club involved was.

Wounded? Not at all. As I've already said, I'm worried about this. Under previous ownership, I probably would have been but Mr Power has already proven himself to be an intelligent chairman and an astute businessman and I don't believe he'd risk the club's future.

I just don't think a thread was necessary for this non-story. A quick look on Twitter or even the Swindon forum (God knows enough of our fans seem to read OTIB) would have clarified that.

Okay, next time a club is issued a winding up order, I'll await a thread from you on it.

Well i have only been on there on my iPad and didnt see any other article, maybe it's a mobile site thing I don't know. All I wanted was another perspective which ravey was able to help with from the link he posted, you are the only one who took offense/decided to turn it into winding someone up

Well, when we've been declared bankrupt, stuffed local businesses and relied on our players to stave off oblivion - like you 82ers - I'll listen

Seems it's just a load of old nonsense for the time being, therefore I will lock the thread as asked, and if anything does come of this, it will be open to debate again.
