There's an interesting video doing the rounds with a pissed off Liverpool fan (I think it's from one of their Youtube Vlogs) bemoaning the stadium becoming a tourist destination and the number of 'fans' snapping up tickets just to say they've been to Anfield. 'Tourist fans'.
As a sidenote:
Have to admit he has a point though. Had a large bunch of Feyenoord fans (40+) who stayed behind after their defeat to Man Utd in the Europa League and took in a Burnley game that following weekend. We do have supporters groups abroad obviously but these just picked a nearby match. We've had an influx of others as well, Germans, etc who aren't regulars. Has caused some level of anger as regular 'walk on's wanting to attend can't get on.
Nothing against new fans but it is annoying to an extent when you can't get tickets because of fairweather tourists. I think they should have to travel through official supporters clubs in their respective countries to get tickets.

Thanks for the "Liverpool Fans" in the title and not "Liverpool Supporter". At least, I can identify myself with that (don't know about the others ;) )

Same here in Germany when "hordes of Brits tourist fans" want to see a match of Borussia Dortmund in the packed Arena and they nearly always sell out their 82.000 capacity stadium. And tbh there is no moaning here about foreign fans who want to attend a match in the Bundesliga. Must be a typical "brit-attitude" /i ( i for irony, just in case ;) ) Even at HSV we see them a lot but with an average crowd of 54.000 in a 57.000 capacity stadium we can accomodate them.

As stated. Having new fans/foreign fans is not the problem, it's the lack of tickets for regulars. That's for a different topic though as German clubs have safe standing areas, which could accomodate a lot more fans. Our stadium capacity, for example, was reduced from 48,000 to 22,500 with all seater regulations. So less room to accomodate. I was alluding to the 'plastic fans/tourist fans' at Liverpool and elsewhere.

Shane has never been a regular poster, MBR hasn't been regular for about 2 years, Allouso doesn't post anymore.

Everyone else is still here...

Germany do it properly. Affordable ticket prices and safe standing.

That's right. Unfortunately for European matches we have to "transform" the safe standing area into seaters (or leave them void for the match). So for example at Dortmund the capacity for CL or EL matches has to be reduced from 82.000 to 66.000 due to UEFA regulations.
I hear that safe standing is more and more discussed now in the PL. Hope they'll do it in the near future.

Can't slate Liverpool fans at work though. They've all resorted to angry grunts :bg:
