This obviously changes from club to club, geographic location and rivalry etc.
Me personally, I don't mind the long trips as it's a good excuse for a day out and a piss up. This is obviously based on initial thoughts as the fixtures aren't out yet.
For me it would be
Looking forward to:
1 - Blackburn Rovers (never been, local)
2 - Blackpool - (local, last time we were there at Easter was an ace day out)
3 - Charlton (love a trip to the capital, would say AFC Wimbledon but their ground ruins it)
4 - Portsmouth (loads of places to drink, obviously a long trip but makes it a good day out, great stadium with great atmosphere)
5 - Bristol Rovers (good piss up)
6 - The local derbies with Dale and Oldham, decent due to a decent away following and atmosphere, but as a day out pretty shit.
7 - Wigan (local, decent selection of boozers)
Least anticipated:
The usual selection really, unless they fall on a bank holiday or last game.
1 - Scunthorpe (an away day with no redeeming feature, boring town in the arse end of nowhere, dead ground miles from the town centre)
2 - Gillingham (miles away, awful away end, not the nicest place, although Bury is hardly paradise in fairness),
3 - Milton Keynes (Great stadium, but Milton Keynes is the strangest place I've ever been to, so concrete and sterile)
4 - Southend (again, miles away but it redeems itself in that you can potentially make a weekend of it)
The other 13 trips are either just unnoteworhy (from the perspective of a Bury fan) and aren't too bad or too good, middle of the road.
I also understand that for many, a trip to Bury hardly sets the heart racing, although I imagine it's proximity to Manchester saves it somewhat.
How about your perspective on away games for the coming season?
