Ronnie Moore leaves Hartlepool.

I know they've been a bit shit this year but surely he deserved another pre season to address what failings the team had? The miracle escape he engineered clearly doesn't count for much.

Beat me to it.

It's been coming. I didn't expect them to mount a promotion challenge but I expected them to improve after the form he put them in back end of last season.

Suppose that's just modern football. Managers rarely get the time to work through a slump (not specific to Moore here, just in general).

It's a great decision and it's been coming. If there were any signs of improvement, I'd have given him time but we were regressing, fast.

We have been beyond dire all season, last night was very evident he'd lost the fans, the players haven't been behind him for months so the writing was on the wall. The chairman was inundated with pleas to sack Moore on twitter last night. Good to have an owner that listens.

We were on a run of 15 points from the last 23 games. That's clearly alarming and we've acted in the club's best interests.

Had a feeling that was coming. Wonder if he got another "phone call" from Peter Johnson to congratulate him...

As an outsider down the at the bottom looking at Pools recent appointments other than Ronnie Moore...this is great news. With him in charge, even on a poor run, always felt like they had something in the back and still had the potential to get a result, without him we stand more of a chance in our own fight.

Pools tend to appoint pretty poorly, bar Ronnie Moore of course, so hopefully they'll continue the trend to drag themselves further into the mire.

No major investment in recent times in squad, seems moore and a hoard of other managers before him at hartlepool are fall guys. They have games in hand and are still not in relegation zone. They might not be so lucky and do great escape again this year

Your wrong mate.it would have been great news for you if we'd stuck with him ,as we going headlong into relegation.
We have the nucleus of a decent side, but Moore wouldn't pick the right players. If we did win,he changed the players & formation the following week.
Some of our play has been truly appalling, set plays shocking.
I'll always be greatfull for last season, but this couldn't go on.15 points out of the last 69 proves it.
The new management team whoever they are have some good players, hopefully they can pull us round.

That's Bingham gone, rumour has it Ronnie was the only thing holding him back. Expecting Madrid to snap him up in the summer.

Nonsense! Our boy Rakish will surely cement his place in the starting eleven now, and it doesn't matter who replaces Ronnie. If this forum can recognise the brilliance of King Raki, then all manager can also see this. Except King Ronnie of course, but something tells me he wasn't playing Rakish on purpose, like he actually wanted the sack.

OTOH, this scenario is bad news for Fat Billy, and I'm anticipating that not only will he lose his place, he'll also struggle to make the bench. A loan to Lincoln to partner up with Rhead looks imminent.

Are Lincoln planning to score goals by unbalancing the pitch to the extent that the ball just rolls towards the goal they're attacking?

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I still do not know why Hartlepool got rid of John Hughes a couple of years back, they were dire the season he was in charge but after months he seemed to have turned them completely around and they finished the season in extremely good form despite getting relegated and i was sure they'd bounced back up as they'd turned it around.....then they decided randomly to appoint Colin Cooper and never turned it around since.

The treatment of John Hughes was shocking ...The then chairman wanted yet another puppet , once Hughes was rumbled as having a mind of his own his days were numbered

Hignett is a risky appointment for a league 2 relegation battle imo. Thought they'd go for someone who has actually managed before.

Hughes would have been a success at Pools, his sacking was a disgrace, but that regime has gone now.
As for Hignett, when he was coach we on the verge of the play offs, playing some great football.
We brought in some good young players who all went onto better things & when he left the wheels fell off.
Whether it'll the same as a manager,hopefully

Sorry but I think it's time Hartlepool went out of the league, they've been terribly struggling for a couple of seasons now, maybe you'll have more fun in the conference playing the likes of Braintree and Boreham Wood.

Surprised things went so badly for Ronnie Moore this season, thought Pools would kick on after the great escape and be comfortably mid-table.
Craig Hignett seems a high-risk appointment and I don't see them pulling clear of the relegation dog-fight, though they may have enough to stay up.
