We have just announced that our stadium will be renamed for the first time ever. It will become The Sands Venue stadium which sounds awful. What are some worse ones?

Two of our last three sponsors must be up there.

It's currently The Johnny Rocks Stadium (named after a local chauffeur service). In the 15/16 season it was The World of Smile Stadium - which was after a conservatory and extension company based in the town.

My favourite sponsored ground though has to be York's - KitKat Crescent.

For plain dullness, you can’t beat the County Ground.

It's especially bad as the hotel isn't even local, it's in Blackpool. Plus it's owned by Peter Swann, so are you actually bringing in much money from it or is it just free advertising - like Sports Direct/Mike Ashley/Newcastle?

I would assume it's a way of circumnavigating FFP. Its classed as a sponsorship rather than just money being injected. Bristol City have the same thing with their kit being sponsored by Bristol sport who their chairman owns I believe. Assume other clubs do it as well

That was definitely a bit of cringe. Often wondered considering how DV rebranded us in pretty much every other way he's left the name of the stadium alone. Maybe the new stadium will get a suitably silly name if it ever gets built.

Kit Kat Crescent - York
Tony Macaroni Arena - Livingston
Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium - Dumbarton
Bargain Booze Stadium - Witton Albion

All run it very close I reckon.

But at least they're not sponsored by a place 130 miles away!

Whilst not quite the stadium, we have a stand called the Ice Cream Van Stand. That is pretty naff.

I'm not bothered by stadium sponsorship to be honest - fans still refer to the grounds by their original/most common name so it's effectively easy money for clubs.

For example, even though it's now the Johnny Rocks Stadium, I don't know anyone who calls it that and still refers to the ground as Whaddon Road. Hell, it's official name is The Victory Ground and I don't know anyone who's ever called it that. It's why I find Gloucester Rugby fans hilarious when they lose their shit over the Shed being sponsored - as if anyone will call that part of Kingsholm anything but the Shed.

Don’t mind ours especially considering the revenue it brings in, plus it’s officially One Call Stadium, Field Mill because the actual area is Field Mill and you can never take that away.

Ours has never attracted sponsorship though I believe they are thinking of naming a stand after our most successful chairman ever.

The Bell end has a nice ring to it

Wouldn’t class Smurf as a succe... oh you mean Mr Bill Bell.. ;)

I’d like us to honour Sir John to be honest with a stand!

Ours name of Blundell Park is pretty shit, I mean imagine naming your stadium after a retired motor racing driver with no links to the area, ridiculous.

One of my favorite ground names, but nothing to do with a sponsor, is the Dripping Pan...home to Lewes FC.

Another is the bombonera, home of Boca Juniors, which means the sweet box

I can't believe I am saying this but we should try to foster some kind of partnership with Mike Ashley/Sports Direct. Head office is in Shirebrook and apparently he has a house in Glapwell. Both of these are right next to Mansfield and have been for many years but we've never had any partnership.

Couldn't care less what it is called, just as long as the name generates an injection of cash. Change the name every season if necessary. Being brought up on the Old Show Ground name, I have never liked the name Glanford Park, named after some local government district, that is not in Scunthorpe and doesn't even exist anymore.
