So after last weeks hammering by Colchester reserves, we're off to Adams Park tomorrow hoping that Akinfenwa and co aren't in Beast Mode. If they are we're gonna struggle, although it seems that like us they can't defend so might be a few goals.

Two new loan signings for us, Will Randall (Wolves) and Toni Gomes (Liverpool) both should bring a bit of pace to our attack, Gomes in particular seems highly rated so will be interesting to see if he makes his debut.

Hopefully we stick with the defence (and keeper) that looked a lot more solid in midweek, although it was only a Checkatrade Trophy game it came at a good time as it gave us a chance to sort a few things out, and let our new defence gel a bit more.

Endorse all of that Chris.
Hopefully we can give a better account of ourselves than last Saturday. Would love to see Toni Gomes given ago, we need to bring a new dimension to our game. This boy looks a real prospect. No pressure then.:dk:

We have let in at least 2 goals in every game so far and can't see that changing with a clown in goal as Ainsworth didn't bring in a keeper before Thursday. :ffs: Still at least we score a lot as well with The Beast already on 4 goals in 4 games, think we'll edge this 3-2. Beer tent with a BBQ in the car park for away fans so enjoy your day but not the result i hope.

We have let in 2,2,3 and 5 in our league games so far, I would be more than happy if we don't continue the trend of an increasingly leaky defence but I'm not sure that we are capable of a clean sheet yet. On the plus side we have found the net 7 times, so scoring isn't our greatest problem. I think the game could go either way today. Given the comments written about Wycombe, I am expecting either a high scoring draw or one of the teams edging it 3-2 or 4-3...who knows?

Not much in the way of positives to take from that by what bit of the commentary i got, bar Gomes sounding promising and a decent away following by our standards. They'll have to wait a while to watch a win by sounds of things.

We are a mess at the back and in midfield. No positives to take from that.

The irony of the goalkeeping situation is that if Sam lets one in it will be blamed on the defence, if Collins lets one in it is his fault, when in reality it is likely to be a mixture of the two. At present I'm not sure that it really matters who wears the gloves, when the defence isn't totally sure of itself or the midfielders give the ball to the opposition. No team is free from mistakes, if they were it would be a very dull game devoid of goals or other entertainment, it just seems that if you make one in Division Two it is far more likely to be punished than in the Conference. I am still optimistic that we will adjust to the Football League, but I'm not sure that all our fans are quite as patient as I am.

First half fucking awful, can't give teams goals and expect to get anything. Wycombe looked decent, we couldn't deal with Akinfenwa and O'Nien looked a quality player as well. Can see why they're up there, they know how to win games at this level, we don't. Our defence is an utter mess, 15 goals conceded in 5 games, have to somehow sort that otherwise we've got no chance. Probably be a good start putting Manny back in from the start, he did alright when he came on.

Got Exeter up next, massive improvement needed.

Shipping 2 and 3 goals on a weekly basis and a manager swearing at fans. Beginning to think FGR believed their own hype and vegan principles were more important than proper recruitment pre season and wonder if all of the FIFA video game media shoot and national press interviews was a distraction which fuelled this.

Nice to see Noble hasn't matured watching the highlights and you can see why most Notts fans didn't want him to sign. The red cards and lack of discipline will emerge from Noble if the defeats become more regular.

Any FGR fans is the standard of football much higher than the conference? What are your opinions of Cooper and how's the village adapting to league football?

Not the best start no. No one's happy with it, obviously which is creating tensions.

Yep too many distractions pre-season, no arguments there. Always gonna be the case when the primary aim for the owner is promoting his Company/ethos.

Noble's discipline has been fine, it's his passing that's been piss poor in the last couple of games. He clearly cares though, which is why he's a crowd favourite. Still more then capable of being a quality player at this level.

Standard of football much higher, teams are quicker, stronger and punish you for mistakes. We're not helping ourselves though.

As for Cooper, some of our fans are getting wound up by him as he doesn't always come across well towards fans and isn't playing/got rid of one or two crowd favourites. Tbf some of that is a bit unfair as before the game he came over and chatted to a few of us, and joined in the banter with Sham. He's a bit too sensitive though, reacts to stuff he reads online and sometimes snaps back when fans give him stick. Needs to help himself and chill out a bit. A lot of our fans don't remember but he was a quality player for us, so some of us longer term fans like him more and he gave us the greatest day in our history at Wembley, but he needs to sort us out quickly.

Nailsworth isn't a village, it's a town and it's coping fine, especially now with no street parking up Spring Hill and the field across the road being used as an over flow car park, equipped with burger van which has been great for us who like a proper burger ;). A lot of our fans come from around the Stroud district and further afield, so obviously that creates a bit of queuing after games and we sometimes do park and ride from Renishaws car park which helps with big crowds.

Thanks for the response ChrisFGR forgive my ignorance about Nailsworth being a town. How do you rate the lad on loan from Forest is he an asset or have we had a lucky escape?

The media exposure by Vince is a fair point. In light of the season so far have your expectations for the season changed? Thought Wycombe were a strong team when we visited a few weeks back and the quality of their finishing suggests they will occupy at least a play off spot.

No worries, easy mistake to make tbf.

Iacovitti looked great when he came on v Yeovil, big strong, quick and decent communication for a young player, but since then has started to struggle like the rest of our defence, was subbed during the first half yesterday although that was maybe a bit harsh on him.

Expectations slightly lower now I would say, would take survival now if offered although think we can still do ok. Were never going to be a top side this year. Wycombe looked good, big strong punished our mistakes and knew how to see out a game professionally. Difficult to judge but reckon they'll do well. A lot better then us anyway.

Supported FGR for 20 years, supported Swindon for nearly 30 before that. So have seen both non-league and football league in equal measure. But have to say I'm shocked at just how big the step-up has been, we are not prepared, and I don't know why that is!

I thought we might finish about 17th, I didn't see why we would not be able to compete, we were at times a very good side last season. But in fairness I've not seen a league two game since Lou Macari made winning this league look easy back in the mid eighties. And that has no relevance what so ever now.

I'm sure we will improve, but I genuinely couldn't predict how it's going to go right at this moment, because we have to sort out our defensive game, and so far (missed the opener) we've looked like getting hammered every game due to our defensive naiveties. This is impacting our whole game, so it's hard to tell just how good we could be.

So far we've only played two at home. So this is where things can get better. Probably not starting next week, as we have Exeter! Not writing us off yet, but hope to see signs of improvement before too long.

If Cooper picks a defence and sticks with it might snatch a few more points, chopping and changing when no-one's really gelled can't help.
And GTFCfish DV really did say "easier" not "easy" in the original the BBC picked that up from, not that it matters much but getting a bit sick of repeating it :D

The Beast sprinting towards the goal before shooting which led to our 3rd from O'Nien after the keeper parried it was hilarious

No beef (hahaha) with Forest Green but please let them keep losing until Cooper gets sacked.

For 'sprinting' I would replace with the word 'wobbling'.

Oh come on now. Those headlines are reporter's opinions and not actual words.
Chairman never said it would be easy to be promoted to EFL 1. He did say it was easier than promotion from Conference, which is true.
I think you've already been advised of that point so please drop perpetrating myth.

After 5 games having got FGR promoted for first time Cooper is safe from being replaced.
Besides he is an experienced EFL manager that Notts County turned to when they were heading towards non-league football.
Have no fear, FGR are here to stay with Copper probably in charge for foreseeable future.

I have nothing to add to this except that the above discussion about congestion being better in Nailsworth now.. well it must've impossible before then! The traffic through the centre and then up that hill, then getting into the 'overflow car park' (read: farmer Teds cowpat collection area), then trying to get out again and being directed out to the right and through the small country lanes was one of the worst commutes to and from a football ground I've ever experienced.

The cows in the road made up for it mind.

Used to be worse when people were parking on Spring Hill. Anyway that field does not have any cowpats, it's normally got Llamas in it.
