Largely just replacing players we've lost so far. As I've said in another thread, most of our remaining budget will go on a new ST. Hopefully we'll also pick up a DM but we might just leave the squad largely as it is.

We have a few players out of contract at the end of the season who might leave if we get good offers:

Harlee Dean
Jota
Florian Jozefzoon
Andreas Bjelland

I would hope all of them get new deals, but the priorities will be Jota and Dean.

There would be no shortage of suitors if those two were listed.

Andre Wisdom - £2m (£4.5m) - I'm very happy with this one; he has been severely missed since the day he left the club, so it will be good to see him back.

Curtis Davies - £500k - Again, I'm happy with the signing in principle. The fee helps, certainly, as it's £500k for a player that was talked about as an option for the England squad less than 12 months ago.

Out
Will Hughes - £5m (£9m) - I still can't find the words to put into context just how atrocious the money we got for Hughes is. I can understand him going, but for less than what we got for Jeff bloody Hendrick. Nope. It's an absolute shambles of a decision.

Abdoul Camara - Released - He signed for a £1m under Clement. He's shown mostly nothing bar the odd step over. I'm not disappointed he's gone as he was probably first on the list when it came to making players available. I just can't see the benefit in letting him leave for nothing/potentially a pay off. He had interest from France and signed for a club not even a week after leaving. I'd say it's another very poor business choice.

Tom Mellors & Alefe Santos - Released - Both youth players, neither troubling the first team. I think both were out of contract.

Overall, despite two good signings, I'm still disappointed. I'm actually worried it will get worse with Ince & Keogh potentially leaving.

leaving.

Well I hope you are right on the Hughes deal (from our point of view!)

Is Rowett maybe looking for a more defensive set up maybe?

This one passed me by. That's a ridiculously good signing. How did you manage to get him so cheaply?

Relegation clause in his contract, although I'm surprised there wasn't more of a scrap to sign him. It seem to be done and dusted within a day.

Thought your lot rated him? He does score a few goals for a defender too.

That's all he's good at scoring a few. His defending is absolutely comical at times, he got dropped for about our last 10 games or so

What's up at Derby? Would have thought you would have kept Ince, Hughes.... Not heard many ruumpurs about players heading towards you either, which is weird.

Think it's mixture of two or three things; coming close to the FFP boundaries, Ince and Hughes wanting PL football (& bigger contracts?) and Gary Rowett probably not fancying either of them. I don't think it's a secret what type of footballers Rowett fancies. Whether that bodes well for us or not we'll have to wait and see.

We've signed up a couple of improvements already which we're pretty happy with and just like the Curtis Davies deal I expect further signings to come out of the blue and be pretty much wrapped up by the time the rumours hit the press. Might be annoying for the fans but a much better way to do it when there's large amounts of money at stake. We're away in Tenerife this week so wouldn't expect anything to get over the line until Rowett returns next week.

The Curtis Davies signing was a good one. I'm all for this "out of the blue" method: it's frustrating being linked with every player under the sun then transfers dragging on for weeks, inch by inch.
Really surprised that Rowett let Ince go, in particular.

He was the only player I wanted us to keep really so yeah a shame to see him go. As soon as his dad started talking up a move to the PL a couple of weeks a go it was pretty much a foregone conclusion, Paul Ince in can't keep his mouth shut shocker. I think the fact that Tom waived his 12.5% transfer fee claim (£1,000,000+) to join Huddersfield shows how much he wanted to have a crack at the PL again though. Decent fee for us, big wages off and some dosh for Rowett to bring in his own players. Interesting month or two ahead.

Ins:

Conor McLaughlin (Fleetwood)
James Meredith (Bradford)
Tom Elliott (AFC Wimbledon)
Jed Wallace (Wolves)
George Saville (Wolves)

Outs:

Gregg Wylde (Plymouth Argyle)
Joe Martin (Stevenage)
David Forde (Portsmouth)

Done some really good business so far. Managing to bring in the two best fullbacks in League One last year is a real coup for us. Not sure about Elliot, who as far as I can tell is back up for Morison. Never been completely convinced by Saville, either, though he is at least neat and tidy on the ball. Wallace has the potential to be a very good Champ player given a proper run.

Think we have enough about us to stay up, definitely.

How has Tom Elliot got himself a move to Millwall? I thought he was shite for us apart from a handful of games.

I'm not convinced either, but I think the reasoning is that he is a big lump and, more importantly, cheap. Someone you can throw on for the last ten minutes of games when you're defending a lead or trying desperately to claw one back.

Yeah when he was with us, he spent half the game on his arse, Gannon got the best out of him and we got players around him and played off him, I think if you use him as an impact sub like you say he could be alright, he's so awkward I doubt even he knows what he's going to do next, but he's quick and good in the air and has obviously improved since he left us.
