The biggest ever day in Fleetwood's long and chequered history. Last surviving league 1 team and we get to play high flying Burnley. Piece of cake eh !
Our away record has been one of our strengths this season but that will be stretched to the limit and its hard to see anything but a home victory. Lot of young lads out there as Scott Brown rotates with Marriott and Stockley both cup tied. Solong as we go out and enjoy thats all you can ask for, upsets do happen, and providing we can keep a clean sheet for the first half hour or so who knows. Prediction Fleetwood to make more history !!

You've got to feel for Fleetwood in a way. Their run reminds me of Cheltenham's in 2001/02.

Beat non-league teams in the first two rounds with the hope of a Premier League team in the 3rd. Get a team from one division above. Hope for a Premier League team in the 4th - get a team from the same division (we got a Division 1/Championship team). Somehow get through that one and surely it's a big team in the 5th round!! Get a team at the top of Division 1/Championship away - we got West Bromwich Albion!

Ours isn’t a million miles away really, get through 2 League 1 teams then get Burton in the 3rd round, get through that and get Luton away, then get through that after a replay and get Southampton away, Premier League but not what you would call a glamour tie.
If we do somehow get through I’m convinced we will get either Burnley or Stoke away in the Quarters.

All the best to the Cod Army tonight. Tough game but maybe Burnley will be ‘concentrating on the league’.

Amazing to see that non league Grimsby are still in the cup.

We were similar. Started with Altrincham, then wanted a decent, big L1 side and ended up with Oldham, then Ipswich (Championship) in Round 3, Brighton (Championship) in Round 4, Burnley (PL) Round 5, which wasn't a bad drawer but still a bit 'meh' for a PL side and finally got a decent one at Arsenal in the QF's.

It's a travesty that the 5th round of the Cup is midweek!
Apparently going back to the weekend next season .

Was just during COVID and for the World Cup.

Given this is the 3rd season in a row (and I appreciate Covid and the World Cup), I'll believe it when I see it.
Yes true - apparently the bloke on 5live might have been wrong anyway.

With more Europeans games to come as well the schedule is only going to get tighter .

Be no replays in due course .

Its an awful draw for Fleetwood as realistically Burnley should win at a canter with their ridiculous form, especially at home so doesn't really give them a pay day (is it on TV?)

Reminds me of our last forage to the 4th road, negotiated Shortwood and Salisbury into R3 get L2 Plymouth... win that and get Brighton at home in R4 (they were Champ at time)!

Last season was a bit meh getting Brentford at home as well as whilst now Prem they were always a club we played loads (even beat them in a cup final a few years back) and one historically that felt no bigger than us.

That said you do get the odd good day out such as at the Etihad a couple of seasons back!

As it gets nearer to kick off, tonight's game gets harder by the minute. Sure we will give a good account of ourselves and the fans enjoy the occasion equally

You never know, we were L2 when we went to QPR in the league cup and beat them 3-1 and they ran away with the league that year.

Fleetwood down to ten men right on half time. On the plus side they’re level at the break. Was already a tough ask but even more so now but hang in there and you never know.

Say this for Fleetwood (and I haven’t seen them since we played them opening day) their defensive organisation is first rate. Can see why they’ve been so difficult to beat this season.

That’s a sickener for Fleetwood. Some absolute heroics by Lynch in goal before it finally got bundled in. Great effort by them though, always an uphill battle after the red card.

Magnificent effort by Fleetwood, always a sickener to lose in last minute but truth be told one of the most one sided games I've ever seen. Having said that in the last 5 minutes Fleetwood gave it a real go so heads held high
Terrific away support for the Cods, a proud day for the town of Fleetwood
Thrilled to bits for Grimsby, fabulous result and hope they get a plum tie in the quarter finals. There'll be some sore heads amongst their supporters

What a dead draw. Feel for Grimsby a bit, a very 'meh' game for a QF.

A weird QF this year with a lot of Championship and lower PL clubs.

When we got to QF in 2017, just checked and there was Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Man Utd, Man City, Middlesboro and Milwall.
